I know that area very well. I Grew up in Redondo Beach and graduated from RUHS. We moved there in 1948 and after graduating in '59 I went in the service. When I was 15 I set pins in a ten lane bowling alley on the strand. I had a car delivery route up in Palos Verdes. Thanks for sharing. It holds a lot of fond memories but I would not like living there now. We moved out of California in 1978 and I'm so glad we did. We go back to visit family and that's about it.

That’s great. I’m 13 right now and I’m going to RUHS in a few months!

@@ultimateproductions6681 I hope your time at RUHS will hold fond memories, as mine does of my high school years. Take care and stay safe.

I don't know if you're aware of this, but the Manson Family member, and attempted assassin of President Gerald Ford, Lynette "Squeaky" Fromm, went to RUHS a few years after you in the mid-1960's. I grew up at the top of the hill on Emerald St., near Hillcrest Elementary School (now Parras Middle School), a little after you graduated. I still live in the area, as do my siblings.
@williamfaulkner19593 жыл бұрын
@@brianmccarthy5557 OMG, I did not know that about Fromm! We lived on Phelan Ln. (1406) and Huntington Dr. I went to Washington and Hillcrest. Our house is still there, at least it was a couple of years ago. Thanks for sharing.

@WindWalkTravelVideos4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Indeed, a lot of nice places to explore in LA!
@brianmccarthy55573 жыл бұрын
I'm glad it makes sense to you. I'm a fourth generation native and I still find areas I've never seen or heard of. I learned a lot about LA and Orange Counties, and the Inland Empire when I worked as a salesman for several years in the home improvement industry and was constantly on the road here 6 days a week, pretty much all over the place. From Ventura in the north to San Onofre next to Camp Pendleton in the south along the coast, and from the coast going inland as far as Riverside and Norco, and even farther. For a while I commuted from Simi Valley in the far Northwest down to Long Beach, well over a hundred miles round trip commute. Yet I can still look at a map of the area and easily find huge neighborhoods and cities I've never been in. I don't know that it will ever make complete sense to me, even with satellite imagery.

Hands down my favorite area of California - I love Palm Desert/Springs/Joshua Tree & Malibu/Beverly Hills/Hollywood BUT nothing tops these beach towns for me. I would dream to retire here; I try to come once a year to experience this paradise.

Lots of comments about the lack of people. If I’m not wrong, this was recorded during COVID lockdown. In 45:25 and 48:43, I can see the parking places on the right are closed; the only time they didn’t allow parking was during the pandemic. We were still able to ride our bicycles.

A bicyclist on parts of that road is like an armadillo on a Texas highway. It may think it'll have a long life, but their bones mark the center median. There are much safer routes along the coast to bicycle.

If you ever lived in Manhattan/Hermosa sand section, you know already everything there is to know about your neighbors, everybody lives on top of each other, you hear farts, toilets flushing, arguments/laughter, and a roll in the hay, it really sucks after a while, I lived in both cities, had to move to Malibu.......much better!
