That was a workout. Still, I can never get over the views of the mountains from the trails at Aletsch. Every time I see a "Closed" sign on a trail, I think back to my second day skiing. A friend took me up to a long beginner's trail called "Lazy River." It was closed. The only alternatives from there were two intermediate trails, "Wildfire" and "Bandito." I chose "Wildfire," a twisty kinky path that had me run off the trail perhaps fifty times. I made it down alive and did not quit skiing. I have to admit, I envy the kids I see starting skiing at young ages such as four and five. Thanks for the ride, and it's back to the novel.

The views all over the Alps are stunning, very different in real life, even now after so many years, sometimes I just stare, thinking how incredible. The mountains are alive, sentinel beings standing guard. So tell me, what is your new novel about?

What is it about? The writer's usual snarky answer is, it's about 200,000 words. My character is a CSA soldier in the American Civil War who, through a number of magical interventions, acquires the powers of a god, and through them he discovers why God and the previous pantheons of gods quit the Human Race. The one power none of the gods ever has is being able to prevent human willful stupidity. My guy is immortal and he has the time to devise a means for humans themselves to reject willful stupidity. After a few rejections and publication through my own imprint via Amazon, I expect pitchfork and torch wielding cancel culturers to show on my doorstep. By then, however, I expect to be elsewhere skiing. @@ChasingSnow

@barrylongyear1933 sounds like an amazing book, perhaps we'll get a movie out of it?

Maybe. Disney is looking at a couple of my novels. I am afraid, however, that The Candle Man won't tick off the politically correct boxes. Things are changing, however. More are finding the courage to call the stupid "stupid." Maybe in enough time to keep Disney from completely destroying itself. @@ChasingSnow

Eines der mühsamsten Skigebiete der Schweiz. Kaum Höheunterschied, voller Familien und Skianfänger, kaum oben, ist man wieder unten. Schlechtes Liftmanagement (fehlende Single-Lines). Für Familien Ok, zum Skifahren nicht empfehlenswert.
