We've never been evacuated but we were just about to board Big Thunder Mountain at WDW once when the computer hit the e-stop. For some reason they let us go ahead and sit down in the next available train and we watched the entire restart process and got to be the first "guinea pigs" after they had run several empty trains through on the other loading side.

Folks are given the choice of staying in line at an attraction that is not operable. An advantage is that one will be able to board the ride sooner. Disadvantage is that in all that time spent waiting at a ride that is inoperable, such time could be spent at a ride which actually operates well.

When I first rode the Haunted Mansion, when I was about 6 years old, the ride stopped for a few minutes in the graveyard scene and I - being little and it being my first time on the ride - was NOT having it. Now that I'm older, I love that ride so much that I'd love for something like that to happen cos I could examine the details... I'd hate to have to get off, though.

I asked what happened because we got stopped several times in different spots like right before the drop and in the same spot as them for about 45 mins to an 1 hour at WDW and they told me they were taking a boat off. Then again I didn't ask this type of cast member i asked the one who was operating the mechanics! I agree with your statement though..

I remember when I was 13 I was on the Indiana Jones ride. I got to the rock scene, and the rock came towards us but we weren’t moving. I remember my sister saying “That ain’t good.” Then right on que everything went dark. Indiana was lit up wiggling around on his rope. That was families view for 30minutes. Eventually the lights turned on, and I got to see how the rock was magnetized and was on a set rail. It was worth being stuck for 30 minutes just to get a bit of a behind the scenes. In a way getting stuck on a Disney ride is just as magical as riding one.

As a kid the only dark rides I rode were Fire in the Hole and the Flooded Mine at SDC and I was obsessed with them as a kid, and still am as an adult, trying to figure out how it's all done. Dark rides are so fascinating

I was stuck on this ride last week where the bear is wiggling his butt. 4:33 We were eventually evacuated too and we got real close to all the animatronics as they walked us back. It was really fun and cool and they gave us fast passes to anything in the park which was nice.

I think the ride had to get evacuated because towards the beginning on the first lift hill, this kid yells "mi gorro" which means "my hat!" I'm guessing his hat fell in the water, and it wasn't until later on in the ride cast members found the hat in the water and had to stop the ride due to safety reasons.
