It's interesting to see how the control cabs on these push-pull trains, both the single and double-deck versions, are styled to look exactly like the RE460 locomotive that's attached at the other end. At 45:00, as we drive along the Rotsee, there is a farm building on the hill on the right. This is where i used to stay with my father, a rowing journalist, when there were championships on the lake. The farm had an old storage building, and on the top floor was basically a furniture storage. Both sides of the central pathway were lined with beds including mattresses, so we could simply choose any one of them to put our sleeping bags on. there was only a single light, no heating, and for shower and toilet we had to walk 200 meters to the barn where the cows stayed. I've got very fond memories of those times. On the left side of the track is the dock for the small ferry that crosses the lake whevener there are customers. Because the lake is a protected area, this small boat is the only powered vehicle allowed on the lake, outside of rowing contests.

The video is excellent! But Switzerland is making a big mistake of adding sound-protection barriers _too liberally._ This destroys the passenger experience. I noticed them suddenly popping up everywhere along the Luzern - Lugano line (through Airolo)and it's _really_ bad. And I won't even mention they are a magnet for graffiti vandals.

started watching your videos 3 years ago, best cab videos i've ever seen! I like the camera out of the cab but it would be nice to put a windshield for the noise from the mic (or record the sounds from inside the cab and record the image from outside, that could also work). it is also nice that you add details in your videos (speeds, names, routes etc.), great work, looking forward for more journeys!!👍👍🌏

I'm afraid that the wind noise on the recording is very loud, and this spoils the viewing experience considerably. If you mount the camera outside the cab, you MUST cover the microphone with a furry windshield. A smooth, foam one - like that used on TV news interview microphones (the handheld type) - is no good because its smooth outer surface means that the air just rushes over it, and all you hear is the noise made by that air movement. A furry windshield disrupts and diffuses the movement of the air, keeping it away from the microphone and virtually eliminating wind noise. Just a tip from years of experience!

Another beautiful video, as always! I really like your addition of details about each segment of the line in the upper rightand corner of the video. The history of each line is especially interesting. I'm assuming that prior to the inauguration of the Thalwil-Zug line in 1897 that the only semi-direct route from Zürich to Luzern was via Altstetten-Affoltern am Albis-Zug?
@lorirocks777 Жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yes, that's correct. For traffic not requiring to pass through Zug, there was also a direct connection in Kollermühle, which is no longer there today.

Ansonsten, Weiter so! Gxxxx Videos!!!
@lorirocks777 Жыл бұрын

Visually it's awesome. Why don't you fast forward when the train is at a stop and waiting? The wind noise is too much and takes away from the stunning visuals.
@lorirocks777 Жыл бұрын
I decided to leave the stops this time for those who prefer their added athenticity. I mostly take them out though.
@norbertk.1473 Жыл бұрын
What does mean: "Why don't you fast forward when the train is at a stop and waiting?"? It's very good how @lorirocks777 presents his video. Because even the long waiting time at the train stations is part of the journey. A tip from me if you are that impatient: There is a key on the keyboard that you can use to jump forward in the video. It's the right arrow key. And for the wind noise you can turn down the volume. Was heißt: "Why don't you fast forward when the train is at a stop and waiting?"?
@norbertk.1473 Жыл бұрын
The waiting times are always part of the experience of this beautiful trip.
