Nice! I have a 4L60e. Could this switch be causing my car to only shift in R,P/N, and L? Diagnostics showed the ecm telling the trans to shift, but it stays on first . Thanks

sorry for the late reply. no. it sounds like your front one way roller clutch has failed. it locks in one direction and free spins in the other. when this part fails it wont shift past first gear. could also be a faulty shift solenoid. you can remove the solenoid and test it with a 9v battery to see if it operates. that would also give you ane opportunity to see if there is any material in the pan.

What yall think would keep the 2-4 band applied. Opened it up and band was toast, done to the metal and reverse drum was shot. All clutch were good even the 3-4. Replaced all clutch, sprag, hub, band, drum and anything else that looked bad. All seals and pistons were replaced. Now now codes but goes to limp and 2 gear is applied. 03 z71 5.3 all stock

I see this alot, people rebuilding and going limp. Before I pay I'm going to clean my pressure switch and look for a fuse or burn wire. 9x out 10 its those problems

From the parts distributor for your transmission shop. Then you charge $500 to repair and it's almost pure profit for a couple hour job. The rest of us just buy a whole new part and replace, cause they aren't that much.

Thanks a bunch, but where did you find your rebuild kit? Mine were torn and dislodged! I have a '93, and can either get the 'entire' switch for around $25, or just the SEALS for $5. BUT,...I can't find the diaphragms AT ALL!

Thanks for the video. Would this cause for the transmission to hard shift from park to reverse, and first to second when cold only? Once warmed up it goes away. PO961 code

My 4l60e shifts right into 3rd if I use the shifter to select third but if I use Drive and let it shift into third automatically from 2nd, it slips.

more than likely your third gear clutches are burnt. when you select manual third its at a higher line pressure so it holds better.

Could this switch be causing a no overdrive condition on my 4l65e? By no overdrive I mean first second and third shift fine, overdrive randomly is like it shifts into neutral. Trans has been rebuilt twice in the last 6 months by two different shops for this issue. That's why I'm leaning more towards an electrical issue vs a mechanical issue at this point because I highly doubt either shop replace this or any of the solenoids besides the tcc solenoid.

Datalog your pcm readings. If the pcm isn’t commanding 4th, it’s the switch. If it is, then you have a servo issue.

It's a $35 part and a Rebuilt transmission plus install cost $3000. You're telling me this pressure manifold switch is not routinely replaced in a 4L60e rebuild? you said, "Rebuild kits come w/ the seals" - does that mean a whole new manifold switch or your painstaking repair seal process? haha. thanks. "I would always just replace them" - so can you tell me if a Rebuilt $2000 4l60e has a REPLACED $30 part? Or did someone actually go through each seal? This is bizarre. I hope they replaced the whole part and that would be the standard and norm for paying $2K for a rebuilt 4L60e. But there's no detailed report on this most expensive part! Totally crazy and some say a big scam. hahaha. thanks

I have an issue with a low miles 4l60e that does not have overdrive. I took down the pressure manifold and 2 of the o rings were blown out from the switch. Put in a new delco pressure manifold . still no overdrive? any ideas ? thank you.

If it has 1-3 and no fourth I would look at getting an upgraded remanufactured valve body.sounds like there may be an issue with the 3-4 shift valve. I would check for codes and as long as the fluid isn't burnt and there's no clutch material in the pan that's what I would do.

make sure it has a gm transmission pan gasket. if you use silicone or aftermarket cork gasket you could block the little passage hole that allows fluid to come out of 4th and drain back in pan
