Thanks for the awesome video. Just dropped the pan on a 4L80e in my 96 k2500 Suburban. Only have 2nd and reverse. Replaced the internal harness cause it looked like a 25y/o harness would. Was able to ohm out my solenoids. Tcc and pressure control were ok. Shift solenoids were out of spec. Going to replace the pressure pad while im in there too. Fluid and filter actually look great. For anyone in this spot too, make sure you have key on source voltage on the truck side connector that feeds the 1-2, 2-3, and TCC solenoids.

It’s ok, you can rebuild it! Faster,stronger,.....we have the technology. And probably nobody under the age of 35 is gonna get that reference. Damn I’m old. 😂

@@BlaserBuilds How difficult do you suppose it would be to install a hd2 kit with the trans still in the truck. My main concern is the checkballz.
@BlaserBuilds
@BlaserBuilds 5 жыл бұрын
@@rememberussliberty1822 Wouldnt be too bad. The balls should be able to rest in the separator plate holes.

built units for 47 years,nobody but a few of my customers ever changed the fluid and filter on timely schedules,those who did didn't have rebuilds under the 280k mark,when they did,they rebuilt it to new,if people would religiously change their fluid and filter every 45k miles,they wouldn't see guys like me for years,that filth in the valve bodies is metal dust in suspension,its the culprit,it wears valve bores and valves and loss of pressure in holding members fails,and its rebuild time,change those filters and dirty fluids,lose the agravation,i built thousands of units,always add LUBEGARD to any trans that is an overdrive,it works, if your converter shudders put it in ,problem solved,this guy knows his stuff,pay attention

This is very helpful as I may need to do the valve body. Does the transmission need to be removed to do this job because of the ball bearings?

Impressive my man! I like it! I've messed with all things mechanical, but never a transmission. I always thought you needed to have specialty tools and jigs in order to work on Transmissions. I'll be following this! Thanks! Keep up the great work!

Great video! My 4L80E is with a 6.5TD, and has very strange behavior. I can manually select 1,2,&3, and they will shift automatically, but fourth and TC lock up don't work. Additionally, throttle control is very sketchy. If you don't continually accelerate even just slightly it shuts down to idle, then kicks back up to original setting. Also noticed this morning (rather cool for Fl.) that it acts up at even lower speeds and not just over 45MPH. Would the trans temp sensor cause this? Or several problems?
@bigbill2376
@bigbill2376 4 жыл бұрын
What about the temp sensor that's zip tied to the harness? What does it do? Can it cause the trans to go into default mode or lose TCC?

very good quality video, but if we could just get ya to lover the level setting on your music just a tad , that would be great, yeah the music comes thru a little heavy on my set up, (laptop with kinda old laptop speakers in the garage) i find i get to rewind a little often, BUT other than that a most excellent very high quality production, thanks -, idk you look like you might be having a little Reggea in the back ground of your garage, that would be cool

thats the truth i used to be a video editor in LA i usually did my final inspect on a pretty crappy system if it worked and sounded okay on that one it was usually fine, no idea what system or software you are using but it looks plenty great for youtube and as an in-structural production!

I lost reverse in my 4l80e in my 2003 2500 4x4. It just stopped like I had lost pressure. All of my forward gears run fine and shift smooth. Could the problem be in the reverse servo seals?
