Just finished my 80e swap up in a gravel driveway, and with someone who has never messed with an Fbody let alone anything LS, this swap was very straight forward and it all plugs together like legos. This video and LS1Tech will be your best friend.

Not a cheap swap… Need a new driveshaft and yoke 4L80E Crossmember Converter SFI flexplate (if racing) Trans cooler: I like Tru Cool 40k OC-4739-1 Cooler fitting adapters to 6AN male Banjo fittings for oil cooler lines Trans cooler 6AN line kit External Wiring harness - (make your own) Dipstick tube - Use Madman MM-DT 4L80E 4L80E segment swap Depending on converter, may need Crank spacer, Pilot adapter, longer flex plate bolts… I’d run a pressure sensor in the pressure port also to log trans pressure…it adds up quick but lockup and OD is so worth it over the TH400

SPOILER ALERT haha! It is a very expensive swap but gets rid of the garbage 60e and lets you retain overdrive! The plug and play harness we used was pretty seamless and needed no segment swap. The Tru Cool 40k is a beast of a cooler, running it on multiple vehicles. We also used the madman dipstick, it is like you are naming everything in the video! Hey I had question and wonder could u guys help me? I have a 98 trans am and did the 4l80 swap , I have the 99-02 ECU upgrade with 4l80 segment swap and had my original harness repinned for that newer computer and trans but after installation I’m still gettin in limp mode? And pcu tuned correctly and harness wired correctly and getting 12v, I can’t figure out what else it could be

Im not sure tbh, kc maxx, our tuner has us get that pcm of nc 80e to 60e harness. It doesn't do a segment swap, one modified the 60e shift tables based on the instructions. The ws6 drives flawless. Those jumper harnesses arent super expensive in the grand scheme. If someone smart was to make a decent 60 to 80 harness about 12 inches long with a super low profile 90 on 1 end and car plug on other end, I bet they would be the only one anyone ever bought.

Yes, you will need to reprogram when doing the 80e if you want the pcm to control shift points

Sonnax T3-3-5571HP is the yoke we are using. You will need a conversion u joint.

@@Autofaze Good call, that yoke has full spline engagement, I always recommend a fully splined output and that yoke for 4th gen to reduce vibration.

I'm curious as well. Does anyone know if umi has a crosmember that works with their torque arm? I have their setup that takes it off the trans already, but id hate to have to swap my umi adjustable torque arm on top of already expensive trans setup

For this exact setup a hair north of 4k. This could easily be done for high 2s or in the 3s though. Get a cheaper converter, reuse your aftermarket 60e cooler, rubber transmission lines, ect. This car already had a chassis mount tq arm that we put on in 2020. Your biggest $ items will be transmission and converter.
