Kurt Warner in 1999 is the reason I started paying attention to football again after not watching it much in the 90s. That was such a wild, unexpected season that it was impossible to ignore. And like everyone else, when Vermeil said they were going to rally around Warner, I was thinking here comes 4-12 again. Still the greatest out of nowhere story in NFL history. And then Warner took the Cardinals to the super bowl and damn near got them a victory! My other thought watching this is that recently, you don't want to tank for the #1 pick. Get that #2 instead. The last three #2 picks are Aiden Hutchinson, CJ Stroud and Jayden Daniels. All three are better than the #1 picks. Lovie Smith did Houston such a favor and needs a statue.

19:54 yeah that Tuck rule game is hella messed up. The raiders should have won that game that was totally a fumble. But besides that, one thing I wish you would have mentioned that I think is a pretty big deal is that Tom Brady was injured and couldn't play in the AFC championship against the Steelers so Drew bledsoe had to take over again and he actually stepped up and won them that AFC championship before Tom Brady came back and won the super bowl. That is epic

Despite not knowing anything about it (I was 8) I wanted to do the thing my big sister was doing. So I watched it with her and cheered for the Rams, because thats the team she was rooting for. The Rams became my favorite team (ignore that it was the only team i knew aside from the titans) until i realized Michigan had a team, then it was lions all the way. Speaking of, the Wolverine/Spartan rivalry is a fierce one in my state and EVERYONE just HAD to know which one you liked. I chose the Wolverines for a simple reason, their uniforms looked like the Rams! its funny to think how my love of the sport spawned from such a tiny thing.

Imagine being some schmuck who ended up being literally the last draft pick, BOTH guys ahead of you got injured, and your first game as a starter is against TOM. BRADY. And you ball out, win, the whole stadium is chanting your name, and you don't lose another game as a starter until the NFC Championship game. Regardless of the questions about how good Purdy is compared to the elite squad around him, you gotta admit that's one hell of a rarity.

In my own mind, I am largely, if not solely, responsible for the comeback success of the 2004 Steelers. Allow me to explain… In late 2003 I moved to Detroit. But as the Lions sucked miserably (an would only get worse from there), I remained a Steelers fan. One snowy evening in January 2004, the Detroit Vipers of the Arena Football League we’re playing at The Palace of Auburn Hills. Tommy Maddox, then the Steelers’ starting QB, had once been the Vipers’ QB. And as it happened, he was at the Palace that evening, meeting fans afterward for photos and autographs. I was among those lucky individuals to meet him. While we didn’t speak much, he was very nice and agreeable to having our photo taken and to signing my Steelers hat. Fast forward several months to the 2004 regular season, and he was knocked out in Week 3, allowing rookie QB Ben Roethlisberger to finish the game, and start the remainder of the season, and the playoffs. Clearly I had jinxed Tommy to the effect of starting Ben’s path to a Hall Of Fame career, including two Superbowl wins. You’re welcome.
