Just found this video, very informative about what an auto spindle looks like vs manual. My only feedback is that Toyota tells you to check the hub bearing end play with a spring scale (fish scale) and the hub should move with the wheel off at about 10lbs of force. Thanks!

Great video I am also a visual learner, but with so much old grease it was hard to see all the bolts. Great job my friend. 🙏🏾👍🏾🙏🏾👍🏾🙏🏾👍🏾

Interesting that on factory trucks with Manual locking hubs there is a Snap ring on the outer axle shaft vs the bolt through the axle , like on the Auto hub trucks. I have reused the center bolt and had not had any issues yet.

I also found that interesting, however using the bolt hole is useful for getting the snapring out :)

Hi, great video.. Do yo think 🤔 55mm semi deep socket fit hub wheel nut, thanks
@TylerStoner3 жыл бұрын
Hmmm I'm not sure, if I remember correctly, the shotty socket I made was just barely deep enough to get me by. If you end up doing the swap let me know what you use!
@nasleathercare48273 жыл бұрын
@@TylerStoner i just realised that impact socket cannot be use for 54mm hub nut cause socket round lip is quite thick, need to use thinner socket, which is special 55mm hex socket

Can you post a link to the kit to convert it
@TylerStoner4 жыл бұрын
Yotashop has manual Aisin hubs but they aren't exactly cheap. You can pick up other brands on Amazon or Ebay. I got mine on Craigslist and they guy was parting out his stuff so the kit was all together. Here's a link to yotashop. Not sure if its a straight swap or what comes with it cuz this isn't what I used. But Yotashop has some sweet stuff. www.yotashop.com/toyota-4runner-truck-ifs-aisin-manual-hub-1986-1995-fht-018/

Tyler Stoner I’m talking about the kit not the hubs the washers and the nuts
@TylerStoner4 жыл бұрын
@@oscartierrablanca5590 I don't know if anyone sells a full kit. I refrenced a "kit" in the vid assumming the Craigslist guy got it as a kit or something. Just dug around some 4X forums and yota pages and couldn't find a "kit" anywhere :/ The link in the vid description that I followed while doing the swap says you can get the parts straight from the Toyota Service dept. He even states the parts you'll need. I've def got some very specific stuff for my old truck over the years through the parts dept.

The diff is what locks and unlocks not the hubs.automatic disengaging differential
@TylerStoner4 жыл бұрын
The stock setup on the front is an open diff with hubs that Auto lock to the axel when you drive forward in 4x. But if you reverse or roll back, the auto hubs disengage from the axel. So still open diffs front and rear all the time, but the front are manually engaged.
