Abdullah Suliman Unfortunately no, the PS4 Pro hard drive area is very different and there is only space for 12mm for the hard drive caddy, and the 4TB 2.5" hard drive is 15mm.

Thank you for the confidence. I am enjoying my PS4 console now too! I had a problem reading discs after I installed. The drive made an odd sound, and I thought I must have damaged it. It turned out, there was just a little too much pressure on the drive - I loosened the screws a little and it's all working great again. I can't put my plastic cover all the way back on - but it goes on 99% so it will keep the dust out anyway. Now if only PlayStation Store downloads didn't take forever... So s l o w . . .

Hi friends, I tried to install a 4TB seagate slim on my PS4 Pro and unfortunately you can't, as there are only 12mm space on the Pro once you take out the disk carriage, and the raw 4TB seagate slim 2.5" drive is 15mm thick. The pro has no space to stretch and fit the drive. So the maximum options are the 2TB or if you want to invest with more money an SSD drive that go up to 4TB.

Just finished doing this. Downloading the first game now, Red Dead Redemption 2, so I can play with remote play. Will download all my other games while sleeping tonight. Got rid of my Nyko 6TB hard drive setup because Red Dead Redemption 2 was making the fan scream while remote playing. Thanks again for the instructional video. Target has the 4TB Seagate for $95.

+Strydenn Valle sad news. after day 2 when I did put game disc it begon making scratch noise, no scratches to see on the disc ,don't know was sound from disc driver or hdd but it was because of pressure. when i had removed hdd noise was gone, I have used same hdd as your, now I have ansambled hdd in case and will send it back :/ tomorrow will receive 2tb and sad but see no another option yet..it was worth of trying anyway.

Easiest solution possible if you need more storage. I did 1 terabyte. Took me 30 seconds to install and format and I was good to go. Thanks for the update Sony that made that possible!

The aluminum cage does bulge/arc very slightly, but it does not affect being able to put the cover on properly.

I find out how you have to go into administrative tools, then disk management, the are a few videos about it and it's easy you have to delete all the mini partitions that PlayStation ps on it then format it... took 5 minutes... now I'm just waiting for my restore to finish and I'm Golden... happy gaming and thanks for so many good videos

I watched this video this afternoon and did the upgrade from the 2 TB HDD I installed about two years ago to this same Seagate 4 TB HDD. It wasn't easy shawshanking this into my original PS4...I had to take tin snips and remove the cage the previous HDD in the tray slid under. I cut that all away, scrapped the tray, and duck taped the 4 TB HDD into place, but the cover slid shut and locked securely and everything works as it should. I only buy digital downloads of games, so this upgrade should keep me seated until the PS5 comes out.

Sky Hygh hey I think I found a solution lol, it's a lil different from what we were looking for with the HDMI splitter but I think this will work, I'm thinking about trying to use the PS-TV, used to be called PS Vita TV. If U have a ps4, ( stream a game from ps4 to PS-TV or play co-op on both together) u can Play Share from one room to the other or both in same room. So, in theory, u can co-op in same room with two TV'S or in two different rooms. U can also leave a ps4 on in one room then play a game in another room meaning, instead of having to move ur ps4 to play in another room, u can for example, turn on ur ps4 in ur bedroom but leave it on- so u can go to the living room and play that same ps4 game that is still on in ur bedroom, on the PS-TV that's in ur living room. Hopefully this will help because that was a super long reply lolol. But I'm thinking of getting one, let me know if this will help or have a better solution.

thank you, I was looking to do this with the WD my passport 3TB but it doesn't have the right connector, only a USB port directly to the HDD I ended up buying this external drive and it was only $10 more for an extra TB anyway, I did I quick Google search and found your video so it convinced me to get it. I'm going to swap my out both my ps3 and ps4 drives so when I'm done I have the 4TB in the ps4, the ps4 drive in the ps3 and have the ps3 drive in the external drive

Thank you for making this video. I bought that exact hardrive and when I took it out and tried to put it in my ps4 I realized it was too big. I've been stressing for the last couple of days cuz I couldn't figure out what I was gonna do with the hard drive. I've been running my Nyko Data Bank since 2015. 6TB of awesomeness, that is until you get the games that requires a lot of back and forth reading of the hard drive. Since it's a 3.5 hard drive is gets hot and the fan works double time to cool it. Sounded like an airplane taking off from the runway. Now hopefully this will minimize the airport sounds.

You can try that to relieve some of the pressure, but so far mine is working fine to this point and I play both digitally installed as well as disk games.

So far it's working fine and I now have like 2.5TB of games installed and about 1TB of free space. I leave it on rest mode often and it downloads updates on rest mode just fine, etc.. I am pleased.

you can just on Amazon and search for a screw driver set that has the security torx T9. It can cost around $5-$20 depending on if you buy just the one screw driver or a whole set with a bunch of different bits

It's a T8 with a security bit. I repair gaming consoles for a living and fat ps3's use a T10 and all slim versions and all ps4's use T8.

yes I'm aware I have a 6tb rdy for standby I'm an avid gamer and collector HD install successful just setting up system now... my laptop won't recognize the 500gb as a drive tho... I want to format it so I can put music on it any suggestions

John Brown Ok, excellent and nice you got it installed. I also have a lot of games, so will also be installing an external drive for extra storage. My computer does not recognize my left over drives as well. I am sure there is a method to format for the computer can read them, but I have not done the research yet, been too busy and don't need the drive immediately. hYBRYDcOBRA You will have to check the specs. It needs to be a 2.5" drive, and maximum thickness of 15mm to be able to use this method.

I was buying the 4TB HDD Its model STDR4000200. On front of the drive i an plastic unit with connector to put the usb cable. How can i remove that to have a normal Sata connector. So that i can plug it in the ps4?

Hi Dave, you simple pull carefully the small PCB that is attaching to the hard drive. Than you all have a raw hard drive that plugs into the PS4 just like the hard drive you are removing from the PS4.

Hi there, once you plug to the PS4 the PS4 process will ask you to format the hard drive to be able to be used with the PS4 👍

Lol there is no heat buildup in this area. I did the same thing and have had it in here for about a year and a half with no problems. I also have an IR camera and the heat buildup is not bad at all near the hard drive at all. Most of the heat is an inch or two behind the USB ports. Besides I’ve had the entire PS4 apart and all that’s underneath the HD is the optical drive really. Nothing crucial to staying cool.

I'm having trouble with my install.. I downloaded the 900mb update to my flash drive and installed my new 4tb but I can't get the PlayStation to read the flash drive I formatted it to fat32 and made the folder PS4 with a sub folder named UPDATE and the file PS4UPDATE.PUP.. I did this with a 15mm 3tb Seagate Expansion Portable Drive(external, which cost me $130 at Canada Computers and it works perfectly. It was a bit tricky lining up the hard drive inside the hard drive bay with no tray, but after many tries I got it.

+l OmarB l I know there are slightly different models based on the color of the enclosure. Remember you have to use 2.5 inch drives as well. I have not tried any other models outside of the Seagate Slims, so wouldn't be able to answer if any other fit or connect as this one. I would recommend just sticking with this one.

Hi Gabrie!, I am glad my video was helpful. I actually did not have the exact screw drivers needed so I used some small Philips screwdrivers I had and was very careful not to damage the screw. This is not the right thing to do, but that is what I had when I did it and did not want to wait until the next day to buy another one.

For anyone else looking at this, get a torx screwdriver bit set...it's almost the same price as a single & the others will eventually come in handy:). I've used mine on laptops, phones, and cars. Hope this helps

Sharpypus Productions It does not like this method. It only fits if you take apart your PS4 to make it fit, but you void your warranty.
