From a Japanese perspective, it's intriguing to see how Americans can enjoy sports and competitions like this. If all the spectators were Japanese, I feel like everyone would be more reserved and calm. The level of excitement and enthusiasm they have for events where things explode or collide and break is indicative of cultural differences.

A large part of the American national identity is centered around mastery of our environment through big acts of creation and destruction. When America needed to establish itself on the world stage, a lot of that was done through stuff like exerting our will over the whole of the country ("manifest destiny"), building big things (damming the Colorado river, Mt. They have incredible passion for certain things and incredible attention to detail. They seem to display incredible craftsmanship, passion, and dedication in almost every aspect of daily life. I love Japanese tools, cars, and appliances for example because they are built with such care yet are so balanced and well thought out.
