Wow, this is the most informative video about Logos. You just shortened one week process into 15 minutes video 😃. I loved that you use the mood boarding in everything which explains why you chose those specific colors or these particular fonts and this can convince the client more, because sometimes clients don't know about other competitors graphics and they start judging your work from its outer shape. Beautiful content Lauren!! 👏👏

So glad to help you and you are so beyond welcome! I would absolutely say to go for the pet brands then. Just think about all that is connected with that: pet stores, vets, pet toys, pet health products, pet care, pet food products, pet accessories, pet shampoos and conditioners and on and on. It is a massive industry. I just looked up the market size which shows how big the industry is and the forecast for the future and it says it will keep growing! Good indicator!

I love how you emphasize the importance on doing the research and sketching out your ideas, before hitting the computer! This is something that you don't hear too many people talking about. Also, I have a quick question regarding the final stage. So after the client has approved the logo design, how do you go about exporting the logo files? This is something I've often had trouble understanding. Also, when designing a logo in Illustrator, do you use CMYK or RGB?
@4TheCreatives Жыл бұрын
Thanks! I export them from illustrator as ai, eps, png, jpg and svg so they have a variety of file formats. You should design your logo in black and white initially. If you add color you should have an RGB version for web and a CMYK version for print. That’s one reason why I like to provide a full brand guide as I can then give the color specs for digital, web and print.
@CanvasOfGod Жыл бұрын

Great video, super informative! I love how you walked us through each step, and explained your thought process in your decisions. Thanks for this! Do you present all brand identity packages in a video format for your clients, or do you usually do slideshows? Also, you may have mentioned it in the video, or elsewhere in the comments, so I apologize if you've already gone over this: how long does this process normally take you? Thank you!
@4TheCreatives2 жыл бұрын
Thank you Jessica! Slideshows are easier for sure, but nothing can beat videos if they are paying enough and you have the ability. It is not necessary thought if you are not a motion graphics designer. The full process usually takes about 20-40 hours. The research side is the most time consuming. I shortened these steps to make it into a KZbin video, but the research, the sketching, the creation of the logo, the font searching, the mockups, it all takes a lot of time to get fully right. But having a basic process to follow helps to make it easier to manage.

How did you extend the “y” like that in Indesign? And how do you trace over the images like that in illustrator? This was an awesome video. Ty!

I first outlined the type in InDesign and then using the A shortcut for the selection arrow I selected the bottom of the “y” only. Then I nudged it down with the arrow keys. My favorite tool for free form shape creation in Illustrator is the pencil tool. I just traced the shape of the “r” using the pencil tool. Does that make sense? Glad you liked it 👍

great video! thank you! I have a question, something i find really hard to deal with. I usually present one or two logo ideas that I really like and think work perfect. I also present them in different colours and with mock ups. My clients sometimes ask for changes and after all changes they want i start disliking the design as to me all changes they suggest just look wrong. How do you accept this? i dont want to be sharing something as my work if I dont like it. It really puts me off doing graphic design especially logos.
@4TheCreatives2 жыл бұрын
This is a common situation for at least a small percentage of clients. When you are presenting your design to the client, you can back up your designs with research and evidence on how this would attract their target audience and get them more sales or clients (as applicable). If they keep wanting to be the art director and order you around even after you have had phone conversations and gotten them to understand your design strategy, then just do as they want and make sure if they go past the agreed upon revisions you bill them more. The only way to work with these type of clients is to increase your prices and have a very firm contract in place. Then just don’t use it in your portfolio if you hate it. I’ve been there too!
@iveta_fl2 жыл бұрын
@@4TheCreatives thank you so much! yes i think i need to come up with a proper contract and after 3 free revisions start billing hourly i think. its just very disappointing as i hate working on something i dont like! but thank you very much for the response i am glad its not just me. looking forward to your next video ❤️
