We've really done it this time! Shauno & Graham just bought a G60 patrol at a pub in Tassie - and you can guess what we're about to do with it! It doesn't get much better than wheeling the tough tracks of Tassie with your best mate, in an old bucket.
The old G60 is no show pony, and we've got our work cut out for us. Tune in for bush mechanics, dodgy roadside fixes, mechanical failures, old school 4wding and more!
The old rig wouldn't have made it much further without a suspension rebuild from fulcrumsuspens...
Even old rigs deserve top notch tires, like our set from www.goodyear.c...
The G60 was brought back in to good wheeling condition with a handful of spare parts from our mates at www.drivetech4...
Don't go anywhere in a barn find without a good set of recovery tracks like ours from: www.maxtrax.co...
We only use the best oil, even in old junkers! Head to rego2oil.castr... to find the right oil for your 4WD.

Great to see the old G60 out there roaring like they do. Amazing how far it can go in those conditions, no centre diff, no diff locks or computer aided suspension control. Just pure Nissan grunt. You need to adjust all the brake shoes as close as possible to the drums to have a decent brake pedal. Regards Steve.

It finished on August 20th 1966 at Cape Byron NSW (the eastern most point -Pacific Ocean). Waypoints along the 26th parallel included Meekatharra, Wiluna, Carnegie, Gibson and Stony Deserts, Giles, Ayers Rock, Finke, Andado, Simpson's Desert (crossing took 22 days, 1105 sand ridges) Birdsville, Windorah, Cunnamulla, Goondiwindi, Lismore. I’ll never forget the time I replaced the rear brake shoes on 79 Nissan Patrol G60 only a few hours before an 800 km drive out bush on a hunting trip , I had to pump the brakes a bit before they worked just fine . I think the 4wd store gave me the wrong brake shoes . I quickly got used to the brakes and left them as they were , I just wouldn’t let anyone else drive the G60 . Shauno you’re not supposed to put it in 1st gear when the vehicle is moving, only put in first gear when completely stopped . I look forward to next weeks video.

My kinda episode! Never owned a 4WD and the only misfortune Ive had off road is bogging my old '90 laser in a puddle slightly deeper than it shouldve been. Just bought myself a 2002 GU 3.0TD Wagon as a salvage for 7K to try and minimise the covid tax. The GU had a 2nd oil pump which used to be a turbo. Total smoke machine! New turbo, intercooler, gauges, alternator, 3"inch exhaust, sway bars (people seem to chuck them out) and other bits and pieces. It ows me about 11K now but nearly ready for rego and more love to be a beautiful and respectful truck again. It spent many years well loved before it went from QLD to Wollongong to be abused. Thanks for the videos guys. Lots of inspiration to explore NSW. Sorry Seano, Landcruisers were just too much coin.

That is the most iconic truck I've ever seen. I love that look and I bet if you search for "iconic" in the dictionary there will be a picture of that truck. Sorry it gave you so many problems, 24 hours is not enough for an old lady to get back to a reliable state. I say you give her a good TLC, fix those brakes (oh my that's scary), make that transmission a bit smoother, possibly slap a locker or two to help the performance a bit, maybe the cheap canopy similar to the pony, then take it for an epic adventure with the farm truck. Maybe also some kind of challenge, similar to the cheap 4WD one? That would be epic.

My old man had one of these and it’s what got me into 4wding. He drove from Darwin to Melbourne towing a tandem axle Millard. If u use the choke it acts like a cruise control

About as high-tech as a hammer with all the creature comforts of a WWII tank, this old truck shows what off-roading used to be like.

An old tech once told me if the cooling system is full of rust not to put coolant into it just use water as coolant is more slippery then water and adding coolant can cause leaks to spring everywhere which I have personally seen.

This is what I've been waiting to see I love this I love it when people go out and buy these old vehicles put a little bit of time and effort into them and it's more fun driving these junk vehicles then it is driving a brand new vehicle I'm pretty sure it's because if it's older vehicle you're not worried about getting scratches or dings in it so you will drive the way you want to. But if it's a newer vehicle you'll be worried about scratching it dinging it damaging it so you're going to drive it a lot slower and not going to take the risk you would with the older vehicle. Thank you for bringing the old vehicles back to life. I love old vehicles if I had a choice that's all I would drive because the new vehicles are made to break and are made not to last.
