before all the hilux cult get in, we have 9 tritons at work, the first of the 2.4 one has a aussie quick spray unit mounted on it, it weighs 3.089t full, that truck works on many mine sites and has now done 230k, only had one rear wheel bearing just recently, standard front suspension, hd rear springs. now the kun hilux that had a lighter unit it replaced didnt even make it to 100k without needing (its a long list), 3 front diffs, 1 hd clutch,so many rear wheel bearings i lost count, steering rack, 4 front wheel bearings, injectors, rear diff, multiple ujs, cvs, front shocks and im sure im missing things. same drivers but we take the triton worse places offroad because it loves it. we do allot less repairs on the tritons than the hiluxs they replaced ( i know because i fix them). and if ya thinking we should get rangers, we dont own a transport trailer to get them off the side of the road.

@@TORTLESSS Yes it is possible to have different ratios in the same model of box. But in this instance, the published specs show the gearbox ratios are exactly the same for MR and MV. I was disappointed they didn't use the 8spd from the PS. With 3.9 diffs you would have had a lower 1st gear and equal top final drive ratios (box+diff). Using the 8spd with the 4.272:1 diffs would give you a materially lower first gear and still retained a viable (in real world use) top overdrive. Given the manuals come with 3.6/3.7:1 diffs, you could drastically improve the performance on and off road by swapping to the auto 3.9 or 4.272:1 diffs

Same, so bloody intrusive, it's not the manufacturers fault though they're just making what they're required to. Will be illegal to disable this btw, you're not allowed to disable any safety equipment that comes with the vehicle.

I had a new MV for a day and couldn't feel the power gain. I'd like to try one with my van on, but in all honesty I couldn't see any need to change. I've been across the country with my MR and 2.3t van and have never had any problems.

16:30 no, you can't tow 3.5 tonne, you have the capacity for a 3.5 tonne tow depending on your GVM, ATM and GCM. GVM + ATM must never exceed GCM.

I think the new MV ticks a lot of boxes for towing and touring and certainly be on the shopping list. As an owner of a Dmax Xterrain for 3.5 years and 77000kms towing a lot. The Dmax has been impressive. But I was expecting a bit more than what’s been offered in the 2024 Dmax. Sorry, but I’m a bit disappointed in Isuzu.

With the popularity of the "mid-size" market in North America and the ridiculous price of our "full size" trucks, I'd be surprised if we don't see more Utes coming over. Ford finally brought the Global Ranger platform here (different engines however) we've always had the Tacoma (Hilux) and the Nissan Frontier (Navara). We still have the GM twins that you don't (though I think you guys would love the Colorado ZR2. But nothing from Isuzu or Mitsubishi anymore. But we don't get the diesels. (They didn't sell/too expensive)

Anyone thinking of towing 3.5 ton with this should study GVM, GCM, axle load front/rear, payload before hooking up. Because as soon as you put some proper tyres on, fill up with fuel, put a bull bar and winch on, put some stuff in the tray under the canopy and load up at least one passenger you may find you are over the limits. Check carefully because policing of these weights is intense, and if you crash while over you will still get weighed and your insurance company will walk away.

I think they've made a mistake, I love my Mitzys currently have a pajero sport and an old SWB GDI, but I always thought Mitsubishi had a niche market, being a bit smaller and more nimble, and considerably cheaper while still being extremely reliable. Their mistake I believe is to make them the same size and price of the other utes whilst keeping a smaller engine, they should have gone to at least a 2.8 ( these modern engines are getting highly stressed to produce the power). In NZ we see a lot of Tritons in fleets because they are cheaper to buy and maintain and have reliability so I think they've just lost that selling point. Plus in my opinion the new ones are ugly.

Full credit to Mitsubishi for competing with the others and I don't doubt it would be a reliable, comfortable and capable vehicle but you've made me more confident that I made the right decision in buying my Hilux. Hilux may have older tech, I mean shit it has a 8 segment digital clock in the dash in 2024! But give me that any day over face observing cameras, electric assist steering and bloody AdSpew! Oh and if anyone buys one please get a Roobar fitted ASAP, children shouldn't have to see that ugly bumper so think of the children.

Like any new dual/single cab utes it need time to break in to really see where it sits in the eco system of the market. The fact its price is near level with most other models it’s got a high bar to meet, where’s your previous models it’s was a bang for buck, paid what you get workhorse type. AdBlue personally is a real nuisance and worse if you can’t up level the capacity if you plan to go more remote. By the end of the day it’s still cheaper than hilux and ranger so it’s got that going for it at least (ain’t counting dmax with that statement). I saw this that the recent National 4x4 show in Melbourne when Opposite lock was showcasing their new bulbar for it, it does help a bit with that hideous bulldog face, and honestly it could still do what many have done to the older tritons, just more for either the retires with towing, or new drivers that wants a brand new Ute but on the low end of the spectrum in terms of cost.

After deciding not to jump into a next gen Ranger from my PX3 ranger, I copped a new MV GSR. Loving the underdog, sad the new model is kinda being slept on. I've had more questions and interests from clients i visit each day about the MV compared to when I had the Ranger. There is genuine interest out there for these, and they shouldn't be overlooked. Not a Triton tragic by any means, but I do not regret the purchase. I had no expectations for these (after owning an MQ and absolutely hating it), only a few boxes to tick, it did that and more surprisingly. There are a few reviews online that don't do these things justice sadly, but I get a sense those reviewers are paid by other brands, sometimes it's blatantly obvious. Are these things perfect - No. Do they have everything - No. Would I buy another - Yep! Strange to admit that, but they are a significant leap ahead of the MQ/MR model and definitely a solid option to a Ranger, which costs more anyway. But as I always say, ignore the online videos and reviews and drive one in person - some dealers will let you take one for 24 hours.....
