4x4 4WD AWD not engaging in SUV Truck, flashes yellow light CEL Code C0035

Often Four Wheel Drive 4x4 High Low light will flicker but 4WD transmission will not engage when the 4x4 switch is pressed. It could be the AWD Transfer Case Control Module TCCM, Transmission control electric motor, or something much simpler like ABS sensor. Video will show a possible reason and how to repair if transmission is not engaging.

you have to put the gear in nuetral first and then press the 4lo and should be activate

Yes the speed sensor hold downs tend to fail. I mounted mine with rubber /metal pinch loops. Keep them away from the wheel. As for my TCase, I never use 4wd which I think messed up the encoder motor. They say you must use it every so often. Got it on my PM when the car is lifted as there are no dirt roads in my area.

Hummer H2 has continuous 4WD. You can not drive on 2 wheel mode.

@@wisemonkey1551 I let me clarify; rarely used 4wd"H" or 4wd"L". If you don't move the module cap contacts on the motor, it tends to fail. Re 2wd; You can however turn it into a 2wd for long hauls in the summer. Take off the front axle and put it in the trunk; a 5 minute job.

I think this is a Hummer H2 I have the same broken wheel speed sensor an same none shiftng to 4hi or 4low locking.

Yeah, I have one hummer h2 that I just bought that is doing that. I replaced the transfer case actuator but that didn't fix.

I do have abs light on, but none of those buttons will work, even 4 high open just flashes and then goes out, everything is off yellow lights flash and then go off. I checked codes but nothing for abs came up, maybe my code reader doesn't read that one.

@@n3d.studio If ABS light is on, highly likely one of your speed sensor wires is bad. Happened to me. The Tcase gets data from abs sensors.

@@operationsword9457 yes it is. I confirmed it on another hummer. the abs light will come on once in awhile and when it did I tried to put it in 4wd but it didn't switch. I ordered one set of speed sensors for front but the box has been sitting in garage for awhile I need to get it installed. I hope it's the front because the rear sensors cost a lot more.

@@n3d.studioProbably the front. First time my front bearings were going out and chewed the driver side wire. Second time my wheel rim rubbed against it as the plastic retainer came loose. Make sure you mount them tightly against the A arms. I use locktite on my caliper bracket bolts so if you don't you shouldn't have a problem pulling calipers off. 10 mm bolt after that and it comes off.

If it doesn't shift/ you dont hear any gear exchange under your feet, it's probably the encoder motor.

On normal roads, press the switch on top of the Neutral (N) writing. Usually that one is by default at start ups.

I had the same problem. If you hold the very top button and hit any of the other buttons 5 times quickly it will engage or disengage.

Mine said the same thing at first I turned the vehicle off reset all codes and it works fine

@@LuisVega-ks2wn sorry for my late reply, finally i took the truck to the repair, and i was told it was the transfer case which has a problem, but he didnt tell me exactly what was to change. did you manage with yours? Let me know what repairs you did , most likely if you have the same problem you might be told the transfer case.
