That back bench and sooo many other things you did inspired me....so smart and simple and best of all? Cheap! Fold up rear bench....genius. Great to see the electronics, the info you gave in the last 3 videos I watched tonight were exactly what I wanted to know. Especially converting to led, which you have to do. Badass rig man thank you!!

My favorite part is the very end, the last three words actually. It shows that you understand how video works and unless we meet some day you will never see me. So, “Thanks for watching.”! Not only is that the truth it also acknowledges my participation in watching these videos till the absolute end. So, thank you! These are the most informative videos on this new and growing phenomenon of converting used ambulances. It is also the best way to saving tones of carbon retaking a used vehicle so that is has a second chance at life.

Absolutely awesome!I am now currently looking and placing bids to buy an ambulance to do just this. I have been studying every type of build out from cargo conversions to mini bus and vans. This is the best build for what I plan on doing. I plan to only semi retire and work camp and snowbird the construction business that I have done very successfully for 36 years. with the outside box's available I will be able to bring along my tools and fishing stuff.You were very smart in that these have all the inverters and battery banks already there plus lights and cabinetry that will take the rigors of mild off-roading. Great job! Plus I do agree about the bed I would rather have the versatility of an open space and seating to a fixed bed.Thank you for sharing your ideas, made my decision solid and no longer a dream. I do think I will buy the truck version in 4x4 diesel and understand the turn radius will be longer. only due to ready available lift kits and not having to spend the money on the 4x4 kit.Amazing!!!!!Thanks again Brett

Beautiful job! You built a very sensible RV and focused on the essential areas. The fold away bed is so smart. Now you have a moving van for free. Who does not need a moving van for those bulky items from IKEA? Your build reminds me of a very smart Ford Transit build by a retired engineer named Dave Orton. Check it out. You might get ideas. I liked your explanation of the electrical wiring. I was worried it was so complex, but you reassured me, thanks! There is a good LED shop on Amazon called LED Wholesalers. They have their own website too, and their shop is in Hayward, CA. I've bought lots of 12V LED bulbs from them. Be aware of the Kelvin rating for bulbs. Get bulbs that are 2700 Kelvin - 4000 Kelvin but no higher, else it will be a bluish color. You can color match the light with existing bulbs. This shop is cheaper than most.

Ive been working on Ford vans and ambulances for over 20 yrs. I have 3 ambos I'm working on at the moment. Ive been doing 4wd conversions for a while as well swc4x4. I dont offer a DIY kit, I build them in house. I will install a ujoint for anyone as well. If youre in New England area and cant do it yourself or cant afford or dont have the time to bring it down south. Very nice job and I agree with your bed setup. I use an RV pullout sofabed.

Very nice build! Since the mid 80's I have wanted to do an ambulance conversion. Moved to Europe, scratch that idea, the Sprinters they use here are tin cans compared to a Horton or a Wheeled Coach. No structure for rollovers. You can't beat American Quality. We appreciate the videos!

I think the bed/ bench design is very smart. Keeping the van functional for hauling is the right way to build it. It also gives you a clear view out of the open doors, creates a passageway, outdoor shower area, etc, I would feel boxed in with a bed blocking the exit. The flip up bench is genius! Thanks for the mpg rating. I was wondering. Thanks also for explaining the wiring and the relays. I know nothing about that and it made it so simple when you explained it. Please do a video on the wiring and tracing it back to the control panel in cab area. My thought is - how would I add a DC appliance like lights or ceiling fan to this system as an add on? How do you connect it to an existing wire grid for a device that was removed or decommissioned. How would you add an inverter to this grid and solar as well. Would a house electrician know anything about this wiring? How did you figure it out? Understanding the existing wiring grid is the key to functional use of this RV. Great video. If there was one tip I would give... anytime you do a van video, let the camera roam and show the van while you talk. its nice to see the inside in detail. All the pros typically do that. I appreciated the serious talk, loved the fact there was no hype or music in the presentation. It felt honest and you came across as a person of substance. I'm grateful to have another dependable source of information and experience when I get around to my ambulance build. Thank you!

Thank you! I have purchased a 2002 7.3 liter Ford Super Duty. It isn't a 4 wheel drive, but I am okay with that! Unfortunately, I am having mechanical issues. Mine isn't converted yet. But I know that won't take a long time. I had mine checked out at a Ford Shop before I purchased and I drove it from GA to CA. It broke down in NM and was there 3 weeks. I just went and got it a couple weeks ago. It is in the shop again.

Hey Ryan. Love the rig.QUESTION: I know you said 7.3 Deisel is best, but would it be huge no no to get a 6.0 or 6.7? Seems to be more of 6.0 & 6.7 diesels available on eBay and Craigslist. Do these get better gas mileage? I'm not very mechanical here except for changing oil,, fluids, filters, tires, and maybe some audio equipment. Appreciate your thoughts. Thanks. -Scott

Just bought an ambulance and am in the middle of converting. Did you bypass the auto-shutoff function? I’ve considered adding another inverter instead of replacing the current one which will solve running an Induction Cooktop but having the entire box turn off after 15 min is annoying at the very least. Luckily I’m still months away from her official maiden voyage but that is the highest priority on my list. Thank you for posting such detailed videos! I’ve drawn a lot of inspiration and ideas for buildout based on your rig! My wife has named ours the Wanderlance :)
@protint44674 жыл бұрын
Mine doesn’t have an auto shut off, just the main switch under the seat that shuts down the whole rig. I haven’t changed out my inverter to a higher output yet because I haven’t needed any more power. Propane works well and has eliminated most of the need for more power. I have thought about having more power to run power tools but haven’t acted on it yet.

Very inspiring! Great, informative videos. I see you are in the SLC area. I travel quite a bit from Idaho to Colorado through SLC. Idaho and CO areas are very rural. SLC would have some great resources, I bet. Would you suggest I send the rig to Chris at Ujoint or is there someone local to SLC who could do it? Also, I'll need to paint the exterior. Anyone you recommend in your area?

Cool rig. LED is cheap light, yes. But it's like fast food. Not beneficial to human heath... Too much to explain in a YT comment section. But we absorb and store this energy in our cells. LED is like a poison. Incandescent, halogen and tungsten are much healthier options despite the power consumption. Sunlight is the most healing though.

Pro Tint I'm jealous! I just picked up a partially converted 1994 Quigley 4x4 Wheeled Coach and it's only 5'7" tall inside. I'm quite a bit taller than this, so once I've got the money saved up I play to take off the top and put in a pop-top. I don't feel comfortable doing this project myself, so will probably pay Colorado Camper Vans to put in their pop top. Added bonus would be the addition of another bed.
