Great job on the conversion. You have traveled the same path that I am currently considering. I looked at the van conversion as well. I too felt that the space was very limiting. I stumbled onto the idea of a ambulance conversion and it intrigued me. Then I saw Ujoints channel and I had an aw ha moment. Was considering purchasing a class C and do a 4x4 conversion. I realize from your video and from others that they are not built well enough to do that kind of thing. Your content is great. Lots of good info. Ignore negative comments as they are from angry, ugly people that have nothing better to do than criticize. If you're having fun doing these videos, keep doing them, because they are very informative and appreciated. I would have loved to have seen a video on the 4x4 install. BTW never even thought about the safety feature of the ambulance but after seeing your videos I realize the ambulance is far more superior to a van than I had even first considered. Perhaps we will meet on the road someday. One question. What was the name of the stove sink combination that you purchased?

Absolutely love what you have built from the ambulance...Also, thank you for all the advice and input as I am in the market for an ambulance and have 3-4 contenders I am currently looking at. I am in my due diligence stage and you have answered many of the questions I had and tackled many of the concerns I had (I was initially torn between an ambulance, step van, box truck, or high roof passenger vans). I have not decided that an ambulance would suit me and my needs best...thanks again...

Thank you for sharing your info, it seems it was built really tough, and should last a while too. I was considering used ambulance for fire rescue vehicle for work truck, as you stated it has pretty much all the infrastructure there already! God bless! Enjoy! It looks really cool too!

A couple questions. 1. Is that a 7.3 a powerstroke or idi? 2. Do you know what your mpg was prior to 4wd conversion? 3. What company did the ambulance conversion. Mine was Wheeled Coach. 4. Have you had any issues with electrical? I believe mine has had too many hack electricians working on it. Its a mess that I keep working through. One constant issue is that if I hit hard bumps on the freeway, the transmission resets due to momentary power loss. I'm about to go through the whole harness to find the loose connection. As for mpg, my non-dually 7.3 idi gets about 15.5 combined. mileage. Lastly, build a guard for the tranny cooler lines. I had a serpentine belt let go and it whipped around and tore my lines out. After reading online, this is a common failure that is devastating. I lost a newly rebuilt transmission to this.

1. It is a 97 7.3 powerstroke. 2. It seams to be the same as before, the gear ratio was much lower before the 4x4. i think it was 4.63 now it is 3.73. it is much better at highway speeds at 3.73 3. It is a wheeled coach as well. 4. I cant say I have had any major problems with electrical. one thing i did have is a ground problem from the frame to the motor and it would stall. I replaced the egps sensor and the oil pressure thinking that they were the problem before I found the ground wire not connector to the block. Thanks for the tip on the tranny lines I will get on that one a.s.a.p.

Ya, that tranny line thing was a real tough break. I was on a trip with my 10 year old son. We were making a run out to Colorado so he could see his cousins. We had planned a 7 state trip over the course of two weeks so I could show him some of this country as I saw it when I was a kid. We headed out from Northern California, then Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, then home. I had the idler pulley back out and it dropped the belt tension. The belt then caught up in the crank pulley and snatched the cooler lines up, swinging the steel lines all over in the engine bay. The issue was compounded because I was on the interstate with no real shoulder and a kid in the van. Initially I thought it was a blown front tire because of "Bang-rap-rap-rap", accompanied by heavy steering just sounded and felt like it. So, I drove several hundred yards or so to find a safer wide spot in the roadway. By then I'm sure the damage was done. I got her patched up and decided to continue the trip. However on our way home, just outside of Laramie Wyoming, I lost all gears. Just like it was in neutral. Nothing. So we ended up stuck in Cheyenne. Got quoted $2300 and 3 days work for a rebuild by AAMCO, ended up having to pay over $4000 and staying an extra 9 days (real unhappy about that treatment), and were on our way with a transmission that still blinks the OD light when decelerating. Needless to say, my tranny cooler lines run through a 1" pipe between the radiator and the frame. Never again.

Love the truck it's a beast. What wheelbase is it? I have a wheeled coach 96 Chevy 6.5 diesel which is non turbo. Not the best thing in the world but I am looking at converting it into an overlander. Got a surplus of Axles etc to make it 4x4 if needed. Love the strong body but it is damn heavy! I have owned it nearly 20 years and have used it as a storage shed for the past 14 years! Time I built it or stripped it I think? Keep the videos coming 👍

earthstewardude, I don’t really do videos often. I just had many people asking questions and figured I would share. Sorry for the bad audio
