In this video the trail really looks to be in good shape. When I did the trail on 5/12/18 the trail has not been touched after the winter. There are a lot of large ruts and water damage at each hair pin turn. Also a lot of rock on the trail from land slides. The brush is tall and over grown, making the trail narrow at times. Otherwise I had a great time on Clarks Grade, the climb up to the summit was fun and the views were excellent. Highly recommend this trail for anyone. In its current condition I would recommend 4 wheel drive.

at about 3 min into video is the hardest part of trail, which is a sharp right turn with large ruts (within first mile on Clarks Grade). possible without 4wd. It's about 1 hour up to Skyline. However, if there is snow at top, then better luck next time. I tried a week ago. I guess legally trail was closed, but gates open (no sign saying closed). I came from Santa Ana River side (West), so there was no postings of this. But on way out, there was sign towards the 38 saying trail was closed. Dirt bike came up behind me, couldn't make it through snow. I hiked the last mile to Skyline in snow. Skyline had a single dirt bike track, so even this was unpassable. Lotta snow this year.
