Yes, and their medals were stripped and given to the true winners, USA. The medals were awarded at the 2017 World Championships in London. @cloudbudget
@cloudbudget 6 жыл бұрын
If congratulations count when the team who won is doped. At the very very least they are on meldonium. Now that meldonium is no longer permitted and the Russian team will be watched very closely for more state sponsored cheating etc. just watch what happens, suddenly Poland, France, GB and perhaps some others will be on them. The Russians are great athletes, but so are the Poles, maybe soon the Poles and others will have a fair chance at the podium. Wouldn't that be nice.
@ranhill62
@ranhill62 6 жыл бұрын
After they were found to be cheaters, they deserve no congrats. Even being doped to the max, and the USA down two of it's best runners (Felix and Richards-Ross) the USA women STILL nearly pulled it off. In the end, the cheaters were stripped of the gold and it was awarded to the USA at the 2017 World Championships.

@@FourSeasons04 As you said - 2 well trained teams USA and Russia. Russia is using steroids. Beats USA with very tight finish. Are you saying that team USA without steroids or some more other advanced performance enhancing techniques can compete with fully charged opponents? That's quite a bit of arrogance! Perhaps in that case USA team shouldn't train that much at all!

@@redchameleon613 I have no idea what your point is, but suppositions and conjecture are pointless without documented evidence of illegal drug use. The Russian system was uncovered; to date, there has been no evidence presented that indicts this American team.

The US lost at the final exchange. Why didn't the US athlete move to the inside curb to align herself with her incoming teammate?? I've known officials to place athletes in an order and then tell them not to move. BS. That ineffective exchange affected an even closer finish.

I agree. RUS was the stronger team. Coming off the turn the RUS girl goes to the second lane. I don't know if the US anchor could have moved or not but she should have right then taken the inside lane. The US 3rd leg had to cut stride to move and make the handoff at the end. And yes. I've run plenty of 4x4s. In HS we ran 3:21.

Under Int'l rules, the positions of outgoing runners are set by the order of previous runners when they hit 200 meters. The line can move inward as runners leave, but no one can change places in the outgoing line. The Russian runner was on the outside of lane 1, had clear running room.

Why did USA last leg NOT move to inside lane when 3rdcleg was clearly in the inside lane? She had to behind Russia and go to other lane. That could've given them the baton 1st and they possibly could've won.
