I have the same vehicle. The power to me is sufficient. Not nice, or more than enough, but sufficient. I get 12.6 km/l out of town and 11.1 km/l ( yes km/l, not l/km) in town. I noticed that the engine responded much better after 3,000 km, and again a improvement after 10,000km. The ride and handling even when lifted is very good. A very good value for money vehicle

Mine is June 2016. 118kw 385nm. Standard tyres. It seems yours is 265/75/16 ? 5.3 % bigger than standard 255/70/16. Puts a bit less torque on the road.

I Think ford focused more on the automatic models since they are sought after more (worldwide) I hate automatics though. Hence the delay in 3rd gear and turbo lag. But comparing it to other suv’s/pick up’s Ive driven I’d say its in the middle in terms of speed compared to isuzu and mitsubishi before (not the latest model). But the thing is you dont buy a pick up for speed. Its mean for hauling and truck purposes and that is where the ranger outshines its competitors by a lot!

Good review, one point though: On your dislikes you mention the fuel consumption. My question regarding this is the following: Don't you think this is something that may be self inflicted? If you lift a bakkie and fit it with tires that give you more of an off road advantage you tend to lose something on fuel consumption. If this is the case, I don't think it's fair to list it as a sort of draw back because you caused it when you customized the vehicle. Not a criticism, just an observation.

Its actually true I get around 10.5 kpl on city driving and my ford ranger is in stock tires Also a manual. Exactly same model.

Thank you for the compliments. Stay tuned an awesome vid coming soon. Yes, be careful the BUG of modding. It gets expensive, and very tough to be happy. Start with tyres, then suspension, Front and back bullbars (check Rival.com) Awesome product. It boils down to how and what you use your ranger for. Enjoy, and thanks again

Nice Video. Like your intro video. Like the fact that you obviously like the vehicle but you were still honest in your negative points. I think the power delivery problems is a software issue and you need to get updated mapping from the agents. Will be waiting for your next review.

Must say, brilliantly done episode. So this was your car, use this as a Pilot episode and approach other Manufacturers to let you test. I'd love to see a review of the Nissan Pathfinder 2.5dci and the 3.0dci.

Good video thumbs up. Suggestions: 1st have a comparison vehicle or have a stock one. 2nd it would be nice if you'd like put some on screen words for the specs, kinda like what you did with the likes and dislikes. They help a lot because viewers can pause and look at the specs rather than rewind and play and rewind and play. Other than that great video. :) keep it up

Very good review, 4x4 fuel consumption will always be more, but if you enjoy the trip and your vehicle nothing else matters. I'm in the process of converting from Toyota to Ford. Have you made changes to the suspension?
@4x4ventures_southafrica4 жыл бұрын
Absolutely, and well said. Thank you. Yes, I have the Old Man Emu 2inch full suspension upgrade. Reason being, larger tyres, and it is a suspension designed for overlanding the Ausi outback under heavier loads, so a tried and tested suspension. Does me well, especially off road. Enjoy your ranger 🤟

for a 160hp engine,would it be enough if it will be set up to a full overlanding vehicle?or is it much better to get the 2.0 bi turbo engine?
@4x4ventures_southafrica3 жыл бұрын
Yes, more than enough, but at the weight she is at, you do feel like a snail sometimes, especially on steeper inclines. She does the job and is doing very well. Watch the CKGR series. We went through some heavy sands and no problems

Hi Ryan,Thanks for the reply and commends/recommendations, highly appreciated.One more big question, manual vs. auto?I have spoken to a guy driving an 2.2. xls 4x4 manual and he has done some traveling through Botswana, thick sand with a off-road trailer with no power issues. He say open road travel at ± 110 pulling the trailer with no problems. Metalian trailers are good, even exporting them to Australia.Your further comments will be highly appreciated.Best Regards

I dont have question on power and reliability. My question is: why the Hood is so high? Poor visibility u cant see obstacles
@4x4ventures_southafrica6 жыл бұрын
Yes, the bonnet scoop is for show and doesn't really add any practical advantages whatsoever. At first it did limit visibility when off roading, however, I am now as used to it as I am the ranger's natural blind spots. I use the drivers side tyre line as my guide when choosing obstacle avoidance, and line. Thus far it suits my driving style, and with the added height gain from my tyres and suspension lift, as well as a better approach angle from the rival 4x4 front bumper, I dont stress too much. Thank you for the comment. Subscribe to my channel, and view some of my later videos to see how my Ranger has progressed.
