Great video sir. I have a Ranger XL on order here in the states now. The one difference I see that I wish Ford would have brought to the states is the height of the rear bed/tray. The states version is much higher, and is difficult to reach inside the bed while standing beside of the truck. Oh well, it will fit my needs and that's what is important. And one other thing I saw was Ford put the steering wheel on the wrong side of your test truck. You should have that looked into. lol

Had a 2012 Ranger XL 4X2 2.2 Hi Rider - brilliant ute! Only gripe was the sluggishness on takeoff (also inconsistent) but great to drive. Gearbox was a bit clunky the last 12 months. Just traded it in on a 2021.25 XL with "Tradie Pack" 4x4 3.2L... lots more grunt from takeoff, different engine tone (still getting used to it) 5cly V 4 cyl - but fun, comfortable ride with a heap more gadgetry... Lets see if this one lasts as good and as long as my previous model...

The 2.2L with a proper gearbox makes so much better use of the smaller engine. The auto is a bit sluggish. Get the manual!

A hi riding 4x2 is an attractive option for my LSL grand fishing tour. I dont plan on heavy towing, and the clearance would be handy getting to more remote beaches and to carry a couple of kayaks, rods, bbq and swags.

So it’s designed as a work ute ok, why the paltry 150W 230V socket then? Surely it should have a 1500W-2000W inverter system minimum. 150W can barely charge your laptop so that’s odd.
@2157AF4 жыл бұрын
Its more for use as a recharging point for batteries. If the work crew need that sort of power, then just carry a petrol generator.

I'll take the BT-50 in the 4 x 2 with the 3.2L, thanks!
@doctorboy58923 жыл бұрын
In the BT50 watch out to put your load close to the front of the tray. The rear wheels are too far forward and so they are renowned for 1. Turning the tray into a banana due to a load at the back using the rear axle as a fulcrum and 2. Swaying all over the highway, if you don't. The BT 50 uses the ranger technology from 2002.

My Ford Everest Turbo “Broke” with only 58K on the clock. It seems there is a massive problem with the ford Turbos that no one is talking about! Sold it immediately after being repaired by ford and got a Hilux. Stay away as far as possible from ford. You have been warned.

gees that 2.2L turbo diesel is downright awful, lacks bottom end and mid range torque and top end power is next to useless as the transmission won't hold gear (even in sports mode), it struggles just to move and the Ranger at speed and with cargo / towing it would be severely dangerous, also I see you were in Picton and North Nowra ... that highway from Kiama S-Bends through to South Berry is a fantastic (new) highway to drive on, shame that it's limited to 100km/h, you could easily do 130km/h with no issues as the highway has been very well developed, almost Autobhan like.

I have the 2.2 auto. I'm currently working on a farm renovating a farmhouse - crap roads while carrying a load (cement, tools etc.) are part of my daily commute. No problems at all. Pulled 3 tons of trailer and a '64 Ford Fairlane with spares 560km from sea level to 1,694m ASL and it didn't battle at all. Not sure if you guys are talking about the same engine, surely not?!
