5.0 Coyote Swapped 2008 Mustang GT

A 2008 Ford Mustang GT with a Coyote 5.0 engine producing around 415hp swapped into it. The S197 is a great platform for engine swapping. The swapped engine comes from a 2014 S197 Mustang. The car pulls hard and is extremely loud.

She started talking about the lift and duration of her new cam and knew more about it than the guys standing there. She's now 49 and just as smart as she ever was. Idk why everyone hates on the 4.6 3v. My 05 ran a 13.2@106 with just an intake and a 12.7@109 with intake x pipe and a bama tune. Literally $700 bucks worth of mods. In 2005 that was pretty quick. Back in the day I walked countless e46 m3s, ls2 gtos, evos, stis ext. In the real world on the streets of south Florida it won a lot of races.

My 08 GTCS has 337 rwhp. Got 4k in mods. These are hot rod cams,Headers and after market cold air intake and pulleys. Also a custom tune. All work done by Alternative auto in Chesterfield Mi.You can get great results out of the 4.6.

@@tylerdingle8528 the reason people hate on them is because see the dude above with 337 rwhp cams headers intake pullies etc they'd say do the same mods to a coyote and you got 450-500 wheel. They judge everything off what power it comes with stock and what power it's capable of. There's no doubt the 5.0 is faster stock for stock mod for mod but it also costs significantly more so its all relative. The 3v isn't nearly as bad as people think it is. Fbo cammed with boost can get you a reliable 500 rwhp and that can get you into the 10s with a decent suspension and tire plus driver. That isn't bad at all for a car from 2005. Just because another engine is better don't mean the 3v is bad. I would do that if I had one fbo cams headers and like say an m122 from a gt500 I think those work well with a stock motor 3v and can give you all the stock motor can take and then some. It's undersized for the 5.4 4v but on a 4.6 3v it's a decent setup especially a stock bottom end car.

35 spline axles with help handle more power to the rear end. A full spool means that both wheels will lock up kind of like a limited slip, its better for drag racing. Very nice car

Spool means both axles/wheels are like one straight axle going to both wheels. Both wheels rotate at exact same amount, always. Limited slip allows slippage while cornering as does Detroit locker style setups. I’ve driven cars with spools/welded carriers on the street/around corners. At best it’s VERY annoying. At worst, causes wheel hop around turns, twists axles. She needs to install a 9’’ rear with a detroit locker. I cannot fathom why someone would spend all that money 0n a swap/tune and then WELD diff. That said: that thing sounds really great!

Mods below; = 102 hp. 3.73 gears GT500 throttle body + 18hp 93 sct 3015 octane tune + 25hp Pypes long tube headers + 15hp Pypes exhaust + 24hp (With x pipe, no cats.) JLT CAI Series 3 + 20hp 402 hp at crank. 334 to 351 hp at the wheels.

my 06 has the 4.6 it's still fast, just not as fast as the 5.0....the motor is a good motor but Ford did a great job of throwing under performing air and fuel equipment on it. along with under performing cams and rear differential.

I bought a 2007 new and back in its day, the car was fast. Remember, there was no Camaro or Challenger back then. The cars we cross-shopped it with were the Honda Accord V6 coupe, Infiniti G35, Acura TL, and the Pontiac Grand Prix. All v6's! The Pontiac had a supercharger, but still only made 240hp.

05-09 is same kind of exhaust routing as 11-14 5.0s they're s197 also. But the later s550s are different and imo don't sound as good as the s197

Very nice car and from the looks, power and sound you all have engineered a maserpiece. Perfect dd or weekend worrier imo. I love it. I agree the 3650 imo is a better tranny when compared to the new 6 speed sticks all my friends complain about theirs ive witnessed soo manny loose 3rd and 5th . I know i put my 3650 through a lot, with around 435 hp 500 tq on spray, not always that much, all i ever had to do was upgrade the clutch we also added a pro 5 0 shifter with a hurst stick not only does that setup look great it performs very well. My wife and i owned a 06 3valve full bolt on with a 100/150 nx plate kit thats why i believe they are more reliable. Had ford designed the 05 through 10 gt with the same bottem end the new 5.0 has even with the 3valve head we would have never parted ways with ours. Now we own a 93 fox, I've wanted to replace the pushrod engine in the fox with a coyote but after research its close to a 10 thousand dollar swap it was out of our budget, we are curently building a stock block clean 90 fox gt, my primary focus is sus and weight. It already has a good top end package it came with poted trickflow tw that flow 305 at .600 lift, extrude honed holley upper and lower intake. The stock block on a 150 is very close to the threshold, had our budget been a few grand more there's no way we wouldn't have a coyote or atleast a dart block between the shoc towers, behind it sets atko 600 we just purchased, we have always wanted a mid to low 10 sec setup a full bolt on coyote on a 100 shot will run low 10s all day. Maybe one day our dream comes true the whole family loves it, however few car enthusiast/dRacers are patient lol. Hopefully one day we can afford the coyote setup our car has already been down over a year. My youngest daughter loves mustangs, that has always put a smile on my face, obviously because im using their yt account. Lol Everyday she asks when will it be done so i can take her for a ride._lol Hopefully soon. This house has the mustang fever bad.

4.6 parts are not cheap and limited to find. It would have cost me more to fully forge which I was in the process of doing when I decided to swap it. 5.0 parts are easily found and this engine is no where near being done...

MacPro8CoreMan Swap in a GT setup with the 5 speed and call it a day. Don't make much power stock but cams + exhaust your at 300whp in a light car to begin with. You can find 4.6 2v engines for dirt cheap too

I was told by my mechanic that the cayote is inferior to the 4.6.. it has weaker internals. Also the manual trans of that generation is super weak.. this is why I'm staying out of the 2011+ v8 mustangs.

It's extremely simple in a mod motor car. You literally only need the engine itself and a control pack unless you're going stand alone ecu. You can use stock k member stock mounts stock brake booster setup stock tr3650 trans will bolt right to it. It's an s197 so since the later s197 had 5.0s it's very easy to get it into an early s197 as if it came stock. With the 5 speed you'd need 4.10s like she has its much longer geared.
