The little detail that gets my attention is that this is not a race car! It's a flat out gorgeous, very fast street machine that resembles an old race car. The race car was faster, lower, lighter, louder and raced against Ferrari (among many others) on the Mulsanne. Consider the conditions at 3am, at 200 plus mph for 3 1/2 miles (with NO chicane) with a line of 3' diameter trees on each side of the road. They have a white painted band about 4' high, around the bottom of the tree trunk. Some of your competition is running near your speed but the ones that will scare the crap out of you are those little 1 liter French cars that are also allowed to compete, together with everyone else!! Back in the '60s, their lights barely showed to the other drivers. They might have, on a really good run attained 110 mph, while the leaders were closing on them with a difference of nearly 100 mph, in the dark, with 1960 vintage lights!! I've been on the Mulsanne straight in 1964, in the daylight, and knowing what conditions the racers encountered still gave me chills. I still clearly remember those white painted trees that seemed to go on forever (They looked like oak trees but I don't know what they actually are. They're still there.). At racing speeds they just looked like a really big picket fence!! I spent 10 years working on a crash truck crew for SCCA and having seen what the drivers experience on our much shorter courses and far shorter races now, I have immense respect for the people who competed back then. The drivers on a front line team usually set the pace, but the other guys, on the "back-marker" teams were on the same race course with far less well prepared cars. They had to work just that much harder to be competitive... and to survive.

I can vouge for the 96-99 mustang gt getting crappy in rain. I had a green 98 that decided to break loose on a ĺightly damp road. Just giving it enough throttle to move down the road. I've been watching almost a dozen car enthusiasts channels over the past year as a dive back into this wild world and these guys surprised me. Rarely, if ever, do car enthusiasts talk about how dangerous certain cars are-almost to the point of recklessness. Now I love the idea of an analog, "driver car" as much as the next guy but when you are reviewing this type of vehicle I feel you should use Throttle House's formula here. This is a dangerous car. It can seriously injure or kill you if you make a seemingly minor error. I'm not saying people shouldn't drive these cars. I absolutely love the Ford GT. It is my favorite American supercar. Just be really damn careful. And do not drive with 17 year old tires on a Ford GT. As much as I loved this video I think they should have delayed it until new tires could be acquired. That being said this was beautifully filmed, with gutsy driving and even though the fear was real they kept their cool and didn't hurt anyone or damage the car. Amazing work guys, you've got one more subscriber.
