As well as the BMW engine, the car runs a BMW E92 M3 6 speed manual gearbox with traction and engine management being controlled by the MoTeC M150 ECU and assisted by a Tomei .5 way differential. Surprisingly this package has a weight split of 52/48 with a minimal overall weight increase. The S85 now has a dry sump setup as well as fuel pump and injector upgrades that are required to handle the demands of the E85 fuel.
With this years WTAC also being the shakedown run after a frantic 72 day build, we’re really excited to see how the car develops with a chance to fine tune before next years event.

I heard V10, I thought Viper V-10 and wondered how it would fit and if the weight would keep the back wheels off the ground. I'm glad I was wrong and it's a BMW V-10 (not the updated truck engine), a real race car engine. I can't wait to see what this car will do on the track.

Awesome build. I always wanted to put an S65 V8 (E9x M3) into a street legal 86/BRZ but I wasn't really sure about how badly it would affect the handling compared to a boxer engine with low centre of gravity. I'm sure dry sump lubrication system would improve a bit but the whole engine conversion (to be done properly) would cost a lot of money. I hope to see more BMW engines into these 86/BRZs!

+Eric I see, perhaps it would be good to get a carbon bonnet, wide front fenders made out of carbon fibre to house wider front tyres, relocate the battery to the rear, change the pulleys to lightweight ones to slightly improve the weight distribution. I would love to see some videos if you do ever plan to do this haha

I like that conversion. That engine is pretty rare to find depending on what market you're in. Maybe you've seen someone in Japan who put a 3.0 legacy engine into a red 86? kzbin.info/www/bejne/jIC3mZijg9ScsNE from 14:03 The ultimate build would be to source a crashed 991.2 GT3 and take its 4.0 litre engine with 500hp revving to 9000rpm.

Late to the conversation, but the LS would a better candidate. Especially ls1 through ls3 which are lighter than the fa20. A company called Sikky also specializes in these swaps where they 3D print some LS parts to get the low center of gravity.

Depend if it fits, if its too big it wouldnt, and if its so extreme it would get years working on, so its better going for something wich fits and easier (Ls', an Ej, a K24, jz, etc)
