Like your demonstration. Easier to use the silicon coated wire than enamel coated type. I have build small ones and larger types

The RF transformer kit you built is for a lossy 4:1 HF transformer -- like the one used for the Comet HF wideband vertical antenna (see Owen Duffy: An explanation of the Comet CHA250). It's similar to the G8JNJ 5:1 UNUN design, but not the same. It will work, but it's not as efficient as the G8JNJ design. Both transformers are designed as lossy (i.e., inefficient) 4:1 UNUNs to flatten or broadband SWR via RF resistive loading caused by the looped-back winding. For the G8JNJ design, the average loss is about -1.5db (i.e., 70% efficient). For the Comet design, the average loss is about -3db (i.e., 50% efficient).

This good to know. I have this antenna and I love it but it's not the best for my 2.2 watt mountainopper running off a 9v battery! Hihi
