Glad I could help. One of the best packs I have ever used. They have been making it for many years now virtually unchanged.

I bought my 511 “Rush 72 55L backpack, as a replacement for some cheaper backpacks that just wouldn’t hold my bug out gear securely. I love the fact that 511 went full ballistic on the Molly! Great bag!!! The only thing I wish was different, is that I would have liked the bag too have the large storage area on the back to be zipper removable.

Thank you for the comment. That is actually a Really good idea. Then you would have a bag that can convert to a day pack!

@@LuckyLoonOutdoors Why does it looks so small compared to my Kelty (2012) Redwing 50?
@LuckyLoonOutdoors
@LuckyLoonOutdoors 11 ай бұрын
I have never used that Kelty bag. In this particular video I dont have anything in the bag, so i have the compression straps drawn so things are not flopping everywhere. That's probably why it looks smaller.

@@LuckyLoonOutdoors Thanks for the quick reply. The old Kelty Redwing 50 backpack is my favorite backpack of all time, but it lacks Molle. 5.11 Rush 72 is too small for me, so I ended up getting the LAPG Atlas 72 instead. I also have an amazing Tidewe external frame backpack that can hold up to 150 lbs., but I would not dare to wear that one to school.

Good review, I have the same bags, (72 and the 24) since 2015, and share your gripes with the pack. Also, one other gripe I have is that I find the air channels on the back of the pack to be quite average, and could be improved as I tend to sweat profusely with the pack on, it’s very warm here in the summer, ( I live in Queensland Australia). I had intended to buy the version 2, but, with the exception of the hidden CCW pocket, there just aren’t enough changes to warrant the upgrade. Maybe if they used some laser cut molle, instead of the traditional molle and changed the design of the air channels, it might be worth it to me. Other than that, the packs are still going strong.

That is a really good point about the air channels, here in MN it does not get so hot but I did notice while in the desert the air channels made little difference. I also do not believe the 2.0 is worth upgrading. Not because its bad or anything but because the packs are so overbuilt that there is literally nothing wrong with them after years of use. I have yet to find an excuse to "upgrade". I did buy my wife a 2.0 rush 24 as a flight bag recently. Same thing, extremely well built and a few minor improvements, but nothing seriously changed....and it doesent need to, except that ventilation.

One gripe that I have is that the pack won’t sit on the ground without falling over. I have to constantly look for something to lean it up against or the thing just flops over. Other than that, I love it!

I agree, that is a good point. Not something I thought of, but is most definitely accurate. Thanks for sharing!

Hi, your review is very interesting. I have a question: in the side pouch there is room for a Pathfinder steel canteen from Pathfinder cooking set? The oval one. Can you tell me? Thank you!

I want to get this bag for fishing. Having to undo the buckles and having that front storage space flop open just to get to the main pack is my main concern. I am in and out of the main compartment constantly grabbing my lure boxes. Do you see this as a problem or can I just undo just one side?
@LuckyLoonOutdoors
@LuckyLoonOutdoors 8 ай бұрын
You can certainly undo one side. just depends on how large your boxes are. If you find yourself going back to one of the boxes a lot, you can shove it in the middle spot or front pocket. This is not a bag I would use as a dedicated fishing setup. As it is not very rigid. But it can definitely work.

@@LuckyLoonOutdoors What bag would you suggest for a fishing bag? Any thoughts?

@@steve4321able I think Kastking makes the closest thing to what I use. I am using a bag similar to Kastking Tackle Bag Hawg. Mine is a special made by Lund and Rapala circa 2001.

How tall are you, friend?… I’ve heard this pack doesn’t fit so well if you’re over 5’9”… Your thoughts?

i am 5ft 10" 220lbs. There is definitely a lot of strap left. For me it works good. Since I go into to work 3 days a week and also travel abroad I use this pack a lot more than most people. Work days its just my computer stuff mostly. But my once a month travel abroad trips, I pack a weeks worth of clothing as well as my work stuff into this. It qualifies as a plane carry on, so NO MORE LUGGAGE!

Quick question, how does it fair against rain? Specially heavy rain?
@LuckyLoonOutdoors
@LuckyLoonOutdoors Жыл бұрын
Light rain has 0 issues. I have never had it in heavy rain. If you are expecting to be in a rather wet environment, use a wet weather bag inside of it to keep contents dry.
