Ordering the 24 and the 72. I’ve been a survivalist/prepper since 1990. I can’t even begin to count how many packs I have. It’s ridiculous. I’ve been downsizing A LOT of stuff. I’m pretty sure these will be my go toos. Selling the rest. Honestly...it’ll probably easily cover the cost of the two packs. Those with my large backcountry pack will be more than I need. Excellent review. Between you and Sootch and another channel....I’m sold. Thank you.

This is by far the best review on this series of packs. Thank you for the time you took to completely cover every nook and cranny of each individual pack. I was ALMOST ready to order the 12 until I watched this video. I think the 24 will be a more versatile bag serving as a hunting, bug out, and day hike bag. Once again, thank you for this comprehensive and honest review!

@@GearReviewDepot definitely the quality is the same in v2.0 but the changes they have made do not convince me either. I own a 24, but plan on getting a 72. Hands down, these packs are absolutely fantastic in terms of durability. I have used a 24 for 3-4 years non stop, every day, for work and it looks as good today as the day I bought it. While I wish these packs had an additional secondary zipper pouch, nevertheless I love these packs. These packs will last a lifetime - just like the old vintage Kelty backpacks they used to use climbing Everest.

Thank you so much for this review. I just got my Rush 24 2.0 yesterday and I was having some buyer’s regret thinking I should have gotten the 72. Mind you I use my backpack primarily as an EDC bag. Your review however, convinced me that the 72 really is a little too big for an EDC. If you need more room, you should just buy another bag in addition to your EDC bag, but clearly based on your review, if you could only buy one of the three to use both for some hiking, and as an EDC bag for work, the 24 appears to be the one. I would like to have a bag I can use for long camping trips or hiking, so I need ample room for gear, but I also would need to use it for school, to carry heavy books and things. Would the 72 look to big, and would the 24 be to small to carry all my gear/school supplies. I'm thinking about buying the 'double tap' color because it's more urban looking.
@GearReviewDepot7 жыл бұрын
In my opinion the 72 although heavy compared to more traditional hiking or camping backpacks is great for those trips, it's a huge bag (although heavy) and can hold lots of gear as well as lots of options to strap gear to the outside using the PALS webbing. As for an EDC or school pack I feel it's too big. I actually know a few people that really do use it as an EDC pack and they said it's hardly ever full but they do like having the extra room if needed. I personally use the 72 when I'm going into the woods with lots of gear for the day, food, cameras along with all my other usual crap including the products I'm reviewing that day. As for an EDC bag I use the 12, it's far too small for hiking and camping (for me) but absolutely perfect for the crap I carry every day. Now, the 24 is really the perfect "overall" or "all around" pack, great for hikes, a light over nighter and can even be used as an EDC pack but not be too big. As for a long hike or a long camping trip I feel the 24 would be too small, one night out maybe but nothing longer than a weekend. It would work if you are a ultra light camper or hiker but then that means you probably wouldn't be using any of the RUSH packs. They are all great but they'er not very light. In a perfect world and money wasn't an issue I feel the 72 for camping and long hikes would be best and the 24 for EDC/school and short day hikes would be best but together you're looking at around $250 or a little less. Hope this answer helps a little.

Good video brother. I use the 12 as edc in Multicam, and just boughtthe 24 for but out bag. Good video! 👍

Awesome! Thank you for watching. I used the 12 for EDC for years, since moved onto something else but the 12 certainly served me well.

Thank you for taking the time to record the video. I've been looking at the 72 online. I also like the PALS options. My concern is the yoke system and me being 6'4". My current "trunk" bag rides too low on my back and is uncomfortable.The Kelty's have the adjustable yoke but no PALS.

I completely agree with your concern. If you where to buy the pack directly from 5.11 you have I think 30 days to return it if you're not happy with it. You'll pay a bit more than place like eBay or Amazon but at least you know you have the option of returning should it not fit well.

I like the 12 as a EDC, I don't carry a lot so it's the right one for me. Good review, nicely done with a lot of info.

I am looking for an edc that doesn’t fall forward or sag. Does the 12 stand up on its own? My pack that I have now has to be propped up against something or it falls over and drives me nuts. Thanks. Great review.
@GearReviewDepot3 жыл бұрын
It doesn’t. I find none of the 5.11 packs stand up on their own. I use several Vanquest packs for my EDC now, they’ll do what you’re asking about.

Great comparison video. I just ordered the 72. Did I miss it or did you point out the waist strap on the 72 and the big pocket in between the front & main picket? Also, what pouch are you using for your first aid kit? By the way, I am a diabetic on insulin too. Thanks for a great video. Oh, and Ii use the 5.11 covert 18 as my EDC bag. It has a concealed carry pocket. Kinda in between the Rush 12 & 24.

Thanks for stopping by! For my diabetes kit I'm using the PPM-HUGE 2.0: Personal Pocket Maximizer Organizer from Vanquest and my med kits for EDC pack as well as my hiking packs are the FATPacks (Gen-2): First Aid Trauma Packs also from Vanquest.

Hola una consulta de acuerdo a mi estatura (1,65 metros) que modelo me recomiendas, y es que pienso que el Rush 72 me quedaría muy grande

Go with the 24. It's perfect... not too big and not too small.

Apparently, anything tactical looks "too big" on a woman in midtown. I'm 5'10"/220 and have gotten offers to carry a pack comparable to the 12 for me, along with hesitant questions along the lines of "isn't that kind of...big?" No, doofus; it's not big, it's serious! I've always wondered if I'd get the same reactions with a tactical bag in pink instead of black or olive!
@GearReviewDepot7 жыл бұрын
justalurkr I personally like the "tactical" look but it all comes down to usefulness, if the pack serves a purpose then I'm on board. Luckily I don't care how it looks or what people think, if they don't like how it looks then don't look! Lol As long as you're happy with it and it serves you well, then I say run with it. Can a pack be pink but still considered "tactical" looking? lol
@justalurkr7 жыл бұрын
TheTacticalDefender I will never know because I'd rather schlep a tote than anything pink. We never had to evacuate the building in a real emergency or they would have appreciated that mean looking bag a lot more. I carry a trauma kit and a pry bar, among other useful things. Good vid on the Rush series, thanks!

Got my Rush 24 today. First thoughts it's heavy. Very heavy especially compared to the Jakaari s. The chest strap seems to rest right under my chin across my neck. Doesn't feel as comfortable but I haven't used it yet so early days. Hopefully I'll grow to love it. Made me feel better about my Savotta purchase. Still not used either yet. I think I may look for a smaller bag at some point. Maybe.. Also I thought it was expensive.. I'll update my thoughts on both as I go along... It was the side pockets that made me go with the 24 over the 12 but on first looks the side pockets are maybe not so important afterall.
@GearReviewDepot2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, These types of "tactical" style backpacks are heavier than traditional hiking backpacks. This style is all I've used personally so it's nothing to me but I have friends with more traditional style packs and they hate the heaviness as well as other features. To me, they'er perfect... I wouldn't use anything else. The sternum strap can be moved but it'll also run high if you wear your pack lower on your back. I wear my packs higher to reduce any strain on my lower back. This is easier for me because I rarely wear the waist belt (if it has one) if at all.

Hi, the multicam version is a lower nylon quality ??? Haave 1000 deniers, is that very important using the backpack year after years ?

hey Tim great review what do you think of the 5:11 covert series of backpacks?
@GearReviewDepot8 жыл бұрын
They're definitely nice packs/bags, not enough PALS and far less "tactical" looking than I like, wich of course is the purpose of that line. They are also half the denier (500) than the other packs. Having said that I'm sure they're still very well made.

I have the rush 72 with the Moab 10, the 10 connects to the 72 but it makes it soooo huge. Only thing I find with the 72 is the straps are very uncomfortable on the neck.
@GearReviewDepot7 жыл бұрын
Happy FM I really can't say I've had that problem, the 12, 24 and even the 72 are all very comfortable for me. I once attached the 12 to the 72 and it was certainly heavy but not uncomfortable.
@happyknife87857 жыл бұрын
TheTacticalDefender I love the bags on so many levels and a lot of people have no issues. Its the back of the neck for me. How the straps connect to each other and roll around the back of the neck. But 90% positive.
@GearReviewDepot7 жыл бұрын
Happy FM I could be wrong here but there's a chance you're pulling the pack too high on your back. All of our bodies are different and no pack will sit on everyone the same, you obviously have to find where the pack sits best on your body and I may wear it differently. With every one of my packs they never touch the back of my neck, especially the RUSH packs, that spot you mentioned on the should harness never comes in contact with the back of my neck. I also never wear the waist belt, all the weight hangs on my shoulders with no hope belt and nothing touching my neck, and I never have back issues or neck pain of any kind. Maybe I should make a video explaining how I wear backpacks, maybe it could help someone.

TheTacticalDefender i'll give it a go wearing it lower. The waiste belt goes across my stomach so no point in that. Im 6'1.

I'm EDCing my 24 and love it. I added compression straps to the bottom; so now I can cinch them up if the bag is mostly empty, but always have the optional volume if I need it. Just ordered the 72 yesterday.

only wish there's side pockets on the rush 12 just like rush 24..
@GearReviewDepot6 жыл бұрын
I agree. The only problem with that is that the pockets would be internal with the zipper on the outside like the 24, but when you fill the pocket then you lose some room on the inside. Or if you load the inside first then your pocket gets too small to be of any use. It works with the 24 because it's a larger pack. But you're right, a pocket on the side for items that aren't bulky would be nice.
