Brian I clean the glass with Invisible Glass, scrape or rub with lubricated 0000 steel wool with Invisible Glass, Polish the glass, panel wipe then clean the blades. The use 2-4 coats of Rain-X on glass AND blades. Works well but doesn’t last long. Upside...cheap. Always looking for longer lasting. RainX is great and last even longer when you Wax the windshield ( I use prestone water activated; hard to find), Seal it (griot's One-Step), then use RainX on top along with RainX (Orange Washer fluid) last on my windows about a year before re-application. Doing This I rarely have to use my wipers. Thanks again "B" for saving us money and showing us the best products to use. Keep them coming :)
@tripjet9992 жыл бұрын
Rain-X also recommends using the product directly on the wiper blade edges, which cleans them nicely. I've never had any "cloudiness" problem when the Rain-X is properly applied and damp polished. Even without any rain, having Rain-X on the windshield keeps it slicker and thus, cleaner. A lot of things which would normally dirty the windshield won't stick to it.

it may not be the same case here, but I bought one of those 9h ceramic coatings BS and applied to to my glass. At first it worked great for rain and I loved it. I didn't have to renew it like rainx every couple weeks, but very quickly I started to see small hairline scratches in the coating because of the wiper. they were thin enough that regular driving wasn't an issue, but driving towards the sun and the whole windshield was evenly glowing bright causing immense difficulty in driving.

I've been using RainX regularly for over 30 years and I have found that I see right through the tiny drops as if they aren't even there and hence, use my wipers much less frequently. If you add their washer additive (4 oz per gallon) you can keep it fresh a very long time before requiring a full reapply. Aquapel I find is very similar but RainX is cheap and readily available. They also make a glass cleaning polish that does a great job of deep cleaning glass for preparation before coating. BTW, for some reason Walmart keeps the majority of the RainX products (SKUs) with the wiper blades and not with the regular car care products although they do usually put 1 or 2 of their products in that area as well.

I have always used Rain X. Last year I tried Smartglass, by GTechniq, and that worked well also. Like Bryan has mentioned, here in the Northeast, we have had a lot of wet, rainy, snowy, days. I live in upstate NY, and the Smartglass did hold up well on my car. I did use Griot's Garage Glass polish on the windshield, and I did do a wipe down using 90% alcohol, and then applied the Smartglass. I have had to use Ceriglass, and then the Griot's Garage Glass Polish on a few older cars and my customers have told me that seeing out the windshield was so much better. I like Rain X because it is easy to apply and works well. Thanks for a great video, Bryan.

The chatter can be from the quality of the wiper blades, as well. I've found Anco Profile beam wipers to be exceptional in both price, and performance. I believe the PolishAngel Rain is a ceramic coating, while the Rain-X is a wax. That said, for either application, I also suggest you clay bar the glass, the apply an IPA solution to clean the surface of contaminants prior to application. I would like to ceramic coat my glass with the Soft99 Gla'co MAX products, but for the moment I'm using Rain-X on all of the windows of my '15 Kia Sorento SXL, and as long as it's applied every few weeks to clean glass, it works extremely well, and I find the misting bottles they offer now, even easier than the older squirt bottle applications. Also note that some ceramic products, like the Gla'co Ultra, are designed to work best at speeds above 35MPH. Those were designed for aviation applications. That may explain some of the differences at low speeds, or in the parking lot. When deciding, if based on price, look at the total cost per year, based on number of applications, and cost per ounce used.

I am sure the super ulta hyper-hydrophobic diamong power wonder serium, known as polish angel rain, lasts longer but I am fine with applying more often. $6 for 16 oz is a lot better than 80 for like 2 oz. No contest.

@kikcodog5 жыл бұрын
@@Will-ii1dy Try buying their washer fluid additive (not just their washer fluid but an actual additive that is very much like the main coating itself) and add 4oz per gallon of your washer fluid (preferably their best one). Walmart keeps it near the wiper blades, not in the car care aisle. Then when it needs a refresh use your washers and see if that extends the life for you like it does for me here in New England.

I carry a dollar store mini squeegee in the back pouch on the passenger seat. I only apply the RainX only when it rains. I squirt a stream of the liquid at the top of the windshield and smear a good coat of the stuff. Sometimes I'll even pull into a self serve and use their paper towels to wipe off the haze. Also, a good coat on each of the side mirrors repels the rain like crazy.

Sonax BSD applied diluted as a drying aid following a wash is just as effective as Rain X. I've used rain X for around 1.5 years now and for me it lasts way over "few weeks". Depending how much I have to wash my car, it has lasted 3-6 months for me. (around 3 months when I had to wash my car every week, sometimes twice a week) Be sure to also clean your wipers! In some point you still want to wipe once or twice with the wipers and dirty wipers will wear out the coating faster.

Honestly, I'll go buy the 5 dollars option. To me the rain x is worth saving the money. That's being said I've always cleaned my windshield scraped if needed and applied turtle wax. It last for a few months and truly its relatively cheap. The small drops may be a little annoying but versus 80 bucks. I'll spend maybe 10 bucks and get a little bit better result. Awesome video. So many times on theses comparison videos we get the bucket dump or garden hose treatment. Seeing this with actual rain and road/tire spray is real world. Nice!
