Since as long as someone still remembers you, you are still technically "alive" and even MIGHT be resurrected somehow. It makes me think that's why Traveler need to witness everything that happens in this world. Even if the Irminsul itself have forgotten you, even if you are dead DEAD, since we are going to re-weave fate itself at the end, meaning we will possibly change the Ley Lines where souls are and reconstruct everything/revive EVERYONE in our travels. And Natlan encouraging you to save and even know **every** NPC there is pushes the narrative more that Traveler SHOULD see everyone and witness everything about them. The abyss siblings might be attempting to restore something that was erased from Irminsul, something that only a Descensder can remember and restore. And I think the flower Inteyvat on Lumine hair would be a big clue to this.

Leylines carry memories to the Irminsul, memories are what we become when we die, that is the form of the soul, Irminsul is basically the afterlife. When someone is stuck with the souls or memories of someone, it's because they are mourning and can't let go, it is depressing for both parties because the soul is holding back the person and the person is not letting the soul go. Natlan has come up with a way to mourn the souls of the past by remembering them as heroes and honouring them, collectively letting go and letting souls become great memories. Which is why to prevent the memories of Forbidden Knowledge from entering Irminsul and corrupting Teyvat completely, Khaenriahns are cursed with immortality, if you can't die, you can't return to Irminsul and corrupt it. This is why Ronova can never undo the immortality curse, it will literally spread Forbidden Knowledge. The other way is to be completely forgotten by the world like Rukkhadevata, a true death where you no longer exist even in memory. Natlan is a story about remembering our history and legacy, honouring the great deeds of ancestors and those who came before us. It's about how a country's peace and culture is built upon countless sacrifices. It is also about how true death is when one is forgotten completely, but as long as one is not forgotten, they will continue to inspire and help future descendants as memories and lessons to learn from. This is why Natlan uses graffiti, weaves and other artforms to honour their ancestors, they are memories/souls recorded in beautiful physical form to keep them alive. Tangent, if memories are souls, it means books, newspapers, all forms of media and even the internet is literally the afterlife where memories of the past are stored.

I like to argue the greater commentary of genshin is quite literally about storytelling, and the importance of language. You last point is just like that. Think of simulanka: a whole world of sentient beings were created from a simple story by a HUMAN. Additionally, names matter in teyvat. They dictate fate and “role” in the world. Everything is passed down as a story, and everyone (with enough will) has the power to write their own story. The more I play this game, the more meta it becomes. A story-based game about stories and words. Hoyoverse blows my mind sometimes.

And Simulanka, a story literally based on philosopher Jean Baudrillard's Simulacra and Simulation, where it argues if a simulation is sufficiently real enough that it completely overlaps reality, does it actually matter if reality and fiction can even be distinguished? According to the philosopher Marshall McLuhan, the Medium is the Message, it is the form of the medium that shapes how a message is perceived, we perceive the same story differently whether it's told as a fairy tale, a newspaper report or an advertisement. The power of a story is the ability to restructure information beyond just simple facts into something that sends a message and inspire. You can choose to tell a story and focus on what the lesson you can learn, or you can choose to tell it in a way that changes the perspective of how you see the events. You can take a tragedy and instead of telling a depressing story about failure, you can turn it into a inspiring tale of those who fought to the very end, inspiring those who come after. Genshin and Hoyoverse as a whole are about stories, not accurate news reports, but stories of happiness, sadness, struggles and tragedies, told in poems, songs, operas and legends. They are not supposed to be truthful and accurate, but inspiring and thought provoking. It's about feeling and understanding the process and paths that those before took to arrive at a certain place and how we can learn to go beyond. And this was put to the forthfront in the Elysian Realm arc in Honkai 3rd, the last remaining memories of a group of people known as heroes who brought hope to the world but in reality they tried their best and ultimately failed in tragedy. The final message of the story is that it doesn't matter whether the story was true or realistic, it's the emotions and experience we had from the story that will live on within us as memories. And through these memories we can turn these "fictional" stories into reality as we apply what we learned and felt in the real world. It's why Venti's songs aren't truthful, why Liyue's operas are exaggerated, why Yae's stories are over the top and why the Sages were defeated by acting and dancing. We are not supposed to be told how the world works by the Archons, we are to experience the story ourselves and ultimately learn something that is ours. Also as a final note, Dreams of the Red Chamber is one of China's 4 Great Literature with this important line that inspired vast amounts of literature, including Western movies like Inception: "Truth becomes fiction when the fiction's true; Real becomes not-real where the unreal's real." That line above resulted in Hoyoverse's entire lore basis.

Another hope for capitano mains: if anybody completed the children of echoes final quest, a character accidentally creates the opposite of archon quest guthred, meaning memories can also create evil versions of an originally good character if the memories while remembering that person who is dying or died are that of pain or sorrow

I think they are not gonna give us a good reason. They are just gonna skip to him coming back and telling us "Since I spent time connected with LordOfNight it counts a a death so now I can go be alive again and playable. But the LOTN could also craft that record item for capitano, Xilonen can craft a natlan name for capitano, and ode of ressurection could then revive Capitano for us. More likely I think Arlecchino can visit and use her Memory-burning-fire. That counts as death for Ronova and he can be alive (and playable). Like the children of the harth, where Arlecchino I believe said something like when the kids memory is wiped it's like they died, cause they can only leave the house of the harth if they die. okay WARNING im about to YAP!!🚨🚨 so i think its pretty safe to say we’re nowhere near done in Natlan despite 5.3 having being the “final act” of the archon quest- even beyond the major fact that Mavuika still has the pyro gnosis and the Fatui will be sending another harbinger to collect it 🤨🤨 (also disclaimer i haven’t done Mavuika or Citlali’s story quests so apologies if im missing some info) for starters: the “Ignition” teaser doesn’t 100% lineup with the story we’ve experienced so far - it seems like it takes place sometime after the events of the archon quests seeing as Chasca is likely referring to her dead sister “I wonder if she’s watching” and Mavuika’s personality seems a lot more upbeat and relaxed compared to her slightly more serious characterization in the archon quests… but then the major wrench in this conclusion is how is it possible that Capitano is there if he cannot leave that throne in Ochkanatlan? Minsleif’s speculation about souls be “recreated” through the leylines/Night Kingdom sounds like a plausible explanation 🤔 furthermore, we have one unaccounted for ancient name that we saw Xilonen create in her teaser vid - “Mwongozo” which apparently means "guide" in Swahili… which idk guys that sounds like a PRETTY fitting description for a man that carried countless souls with him for hundreds of years in the hopes of “guiding” them back to the leylines/Night Kingdom 🤔 so maybe im just on MEGA copium but perhaps this isn’t the last we’ll be seeing of our dear Captain? but back to the “Ignition” teaser, we also still have NO explanation for that scene at the very end with Mavuika and the fire??? who/what was she talking to?? could it at all be related to the omitted name in the description of the pyro ascension gemstone? lastly, but perhaps most obviously, we’re still missing at least two more region expansions for Natlan - the Great Volcano of Tollan/the Collective of Plenty and the Mare Jivari ! we still need to wrap up our quest with our little saurian buddy + we know from the 5.2 main event that Enjou is back and the Abyss Order is very interested in Mare Jivari 🤔🤔 which interestingly enough is another location that has shenanigans w/ souls and memories considering the events of Venti’s 1st story quest and how Stanley’s “memory” was kept alive by Hans after he perished there

@EchoLx Duuuuude, I feel you!!! I've literally been checking for any and all signs pointing to his playability for weeks now, so I'm aware of a lot of the things that heavily hint at his release. You've got the files in-game about his avatar, his icon/pfp, the skillobj file regarding his sword and potential skill (meaning his kit may already be in development alongside other characters like Ifa who was listed next to him in the files and who's been confirmed to be playable), the Jesus symbolism with his nails constellation hinting at a resurrection since all harbingers have a sort of meta referenced release (hopefully 5.6 😉), the 5.0 trailer seemingly set in the future where Capitanos interacting with other characters since they don't focus on the stuff that actually happened in the AQs etc. Lmao sorry for the info dump, I've literally never had any interactions with another avid Capitano fan so it's nice to be delusional fans together!! 😅😁

An important thing to note is that Thrain's situation can parallel to Wanderer. Remember, when Scaramouche erased his existance from Irminsul, everyone but the Traveler forgot him, even he forgot himself. However, it was Nahida's backup plan in the form of a story that allowed to replicate Scaramouche's past for Wanderer to take full responsibility. Same deal with Capitano, only with much more material to work with as it not only was recent, but so many more people remember him and praise him as the hero he truly is. May sound like copium, but Genshin has established the rules, so here we are.

My hope is that we get the night kingdom as an accessible and explorable sub-area like we have the Chasm. There we could meet a bunch of souls (hey Captain!), help repair the leylines, learn a lot of history about the dragons and get a lot of lore in general. It could very well be a lot of dragon civilization ruins and more remnant moon fragments as well as hints towards the origins of Phlogiston we experience there. And finally, as the grand arch, we could get certain souls to be reborn or to repossess physical bodies - and thus get certain characters playable that had very... Playable designs. On the other hand, a lot of that would go against the character development of "learning to let go" and I'm fine with it if we absolutely do not get this last aspect.

You know, for the possibility of resurrection through memories, there was the very specifically stated intention of such in the Children of Echoes/Xilonen's Tribal Quest. Tlazolli was stealing memories of her daughter Nechca from other members of the tribe, used that vacuum of memories to convince them that she was still alive, and intended to use those memories to bring Nechca back in the body of the Nepecha, another little girl orphaned by the Abyss that happened to resemble Nechca. It would have happened if not for the Traveler. Even Xilonen had no idea what was going on until then.

fun fact, hunahpu gets his head cut off and taken away by a bat, only for xbalanque to retrieve it and save hunahpu. similarly, capitano is lead to the throne by our very much bat themed ororon, where he has his soul separated from his body and taken away to become one with the lord of the night. wouldn't be sorprised if at some point mavuika reaches out to lord of the night because she needs help from capitano and then the lord of the night lets the capitano portion of her soul or being or whatever take control, and maybe have his body host both their souls, maybe then he'll be able to hear her voice- like he did the screams of his comrads. even if it does happen tho i dont him becoming playable at least until we learn more about the seelies and their power at their prime which probably wont happen until we meet colombina

I still think part of Natlans story has been rewritten by the newly constructed loom of fate. Everything played out too perfectly... and things only really felt like usual when the god of death, one of the only beings in the universe who could likely tell the leylines had been changed, was directly watching Teyvat. The only motive I can think of for the Abyss Orders motive to do so is that Traveler was fated to die in Natlan, so Lumine changed the storyline

18:30 - no worries, we all did the same mistake 😂😂😂. Bot for real... Arlecchino has lots of connections to Ronova, but she can be connected to the other shades, too. The Sustainer has blackening eyes and glitches. Like Arle. Istaroth is the shade of time and arlecchino kinda teleports during her attacks and can create subspaces (or whatever that place is with the balemoon at her ult animation). And she sits onto a throne in the sky in her demo video... And she states she like people having misconceptions about her (character, power, both?). She might be this way because of her crimson blood or because she is a shade or because she is a reincarneted premordial one... That last one sounds wild but also... Wouldn't it be epic AF? And Capitano will for sure stand up from that throne - although I think, it will take some time. 1) Lich King reference pro max. So if he doesn't stand up and raise rhe army of the dead somehow, than the devs are jerks. 2) His name. Thrainn. No, not Thrain the LotR dwarf! It was written with 2 Ns for a reason. Then, he gone old and tired of life so he retreated to his borrow, sat down ro his throne and became the living-dead king no one could dare to approach. Except one hero who alone went, fought him for his sword and went on killing many... Again... Capitano is N O T A L O T R R E F E R E N C E. Every other character is a Norse myth or Ars Goetia reference. And this dude alone would be a reference to a side character in a fantasy novel?! 3) he is on the "we will fight them" side of the Fatui emblem wheel, but the fight with him should come after Columbina. So... Saga ro be continued, people. And about Columbina, I think, we will meet her on Snezhnaya and not Natlan. It would make more sense ro send Pantalone for the Gnosis. One, we should not fight any harbinger anymore (we got a new boss with the abyss dragon). Second, his bottomless pocket could be a bargaining chip in war-torn Natlan. They have little use of the gnosis as they rely on the lord of the Nihht's direct protection and their own humanpower (including the archon herself). They only needed the gnosis to keep up the fight with the abyss and have a way to resurrect their worriors but now the leylines and the night kingdom is on the mend and stable thanks ro GigaChad. So... Could be exchanged in theory for endless financial supply for repairs. BUT, I think, we will waltz away with the gnosis ourselves, or Natlan turns away Pantalone. We could also meet Birdie Girl in Mondstat. As I think, she is connected to Venti somehow...

I’m not sure if you considered this when talking about bringing back Capitano, but you mentioned how after defeating the Abyss that the people of Natlan are now able to travel outside of Natlan and how the Night Kingdom might be able to recreate someone’s soul from memories, but aren’t sure if that’s even possible outside of Natlan. It reminded me that the only reason that Natlanese characters can leave Natlan now is because the Night Kingdom is now connected to the rest of the Ley Lines in Teyvat so it’s still able to record their journeys outside of Natlan. In the Children of the Echoes’ tribe quest [SPOILER], you meet Xilonen’s master who tries using an orphaned girl as a vessel for the memories of her deceased daughter. Xilonen describes her master’s plan as creating her own Ley Line network using the Inscriptions she made and distributed throughout her tribe to harness memories. She would then take the place of the Wayob and sift through those memories and gathering the desired memories of her daughter. Xilonen warns her master that it is a feat that exceeds humanity’s capabilities. So to me this means that the only difference (post Abyss war) between Natlan’s Ley Lines and Teyvat’s is that they have the Wayob to act as intermediaries between humans and the Ley Lines. So if you had someone sufficiently strong enough that could take the place of the Wayob, the same should be possible outside of Natlan. I know the video wasn’t about this and it was just a small tangent, but my mind got stuck on this idea after you brought it up.

building on the comment about recreating souls; i think a really good example of this is xilonen's questline, and it genuinely might need a re-evaluation to figure out exactly where nechca and nepecha fit into that theory. the blazegem incriptions and collecting of memories in order to help nechca end up coming into big question at the end of the quest. the memories of nechca were essentially distorted from other people's views, leading to a situation similar to guthred IMO

I dunno if anyone has pointed this out but the correlation between death and rebirth to memories is intruigng. As the video theorized, a new soul can be reborn through stories and memories of people, but remember Arlecchino's story quest where she "killed" some members of the hearth by essentially erasing their memories, hence becoming new people. Its a bit of a stretch since in natlan's case, the memories belongs to other people while the memory erasure is on the person rather than others. There's also the part where they soldier from khaenriah read about his true old self, yet stayed different, like its its own soul now. I dunno, again its just interesting how memories plays a big part in the laws governing life and death in teyvat.

About how capitano's "death" can substitute mavuika's gives new meaning to 'high rank harbinger is equal to archons' statement from nahida. Maybe its more to their 'soul values' than strength? Or their courage to challenge heavenly principles? Since if Ronova didn't see him as equal substitutes, she could easily reject Capitano's idea. Can't wait for nod krai, since some unresolved issues from prev aq might be mentioned here, like delusion, or dottore's experiments. I believe the new power that predates the elements is refering to delusion, instead of new element (like quantum/imaginary), but we'll see 🤷‍♀️

on the subject of nod-krai and the power the people their have i think this could be why skirk will be becoming playable in 5.x, i and i assume many other just kind of jumped to the conclusion that she wouldnt be playable until at least khaenri'ah and that they would introduce new "elements" during that time for characters such as skirk who dont have visions and seem to have powers outside of the seven elements, if they are teasing the people of nod-krai having new powers this early just after revealing that skirk is going to be playable i think there is a decently high chance that she will be the first character to have this new "element", i think it would be kind of weird for her to just be one of the seven elements tbh, unless they do something like miyabi in zzz where she is that element and buffs and debuffs apply but the way that element works for her is completely different(for those unaware miyabi is ice but only in name, the anomalies, basically reactions, she triggers are completely unique to her but ice shred and dmg buffs still apply to her dmg, i think this is something genshin could do if they dont go the route of making a new element).

I can see them bringing Capitano back but as part of the Night King using his old body as an Avatar after 2-3 patches though. The Night King needs time to repair the leylines. that's how I would do it at least.

What this sort of implies is that ALL of the shades were doing things behind the PO's back, but maybe that was just after the original calamity when the second who came damaged "it's" functions. Then it was no longer all seeing. Ronova basking in the worship of khaenrian's because she could get away with it could be a thing. We still dont know where the life or space shade is. They like to remain hidden, and istaroth has appeared in the time stream sometimes but currently we dont know much about where she is now. The sustainer's cube's are littered with red eyes as well, either meaning corruption (not abyssal) but of a sort the same as alechinno's forebears, ronova's influence? Or was ronova herself corrupted as well. Then there's marana, the sphere with a fractured piece that behaves like a flying eye, a product of forbidden knowledge. The glitching of arlechinno, what happened to sumeru and the withering having little red eyes on the plants. if forbidden knowledge came from the depths of the abyss, it's not the abyss itself but something possibly more dangerous, worse yet if it has it's own sentience. Maybe one of these perinheri like orphans came to khaenriah with a seed of this forbidden knowledge with it, thats a scary thought.

This was already raised before by other theorists, but I would also want to share as well. Back in the 5.0 teaser of natlan, almost all important charcters were introduced by a ball game. After this, Mavuika and Capitano met and she asked if he's willing to play. Again, this hasn't happened yet. The gnosis hasn't been collected, another harbinger (Columbina) will be introduced for this purpose, and the games of Natlan hasn't started yet. I have a gut feeling that since Capitano has played in the past, there's a big possibility of him coming back to play the games of Natlan again in the future. That's a weekly boss and a playable posssibility all-in-one.

Another thing that is still unexplained in the grand scheme of things is SImulanka's event and the "side quest" of the three soldiers about the foundation of the metropolis and the fact that in the end we reach the conclusion that all three stories are true. This subject hasn't even been touched yet, if anything, it has been contradicted by Citlali story quest, so I think the part with our Tepetlisaur is gonna be much more important than this whole Archon quest. A lot of things are still missing in the whole narrative.

Capitanos outfit has lots of scales on it. His hands also look like claws... ? It reminds me of a dragon. The cryo dragon? Neuvillette is a dragon that was reborn... natlan is a nation of war and dragons... Well dragons can be reborn... but Capitano is from Khanriah... so that doesn't make sense. But then why does his outfit have so many scales on it? I'm not sure but I have a strong suspicion that there is some relation to either a dragon or a snake and that Capitanos story isn't over thr way it appears to be. I don't know if that means they'll bring him back or not but I do think he'll get mentioned in future updates.

tbh the whole situation with Guthred kind of reminds me of what happened to Wanderer, somehow. I can't put my finger on it though. But also it's just like the summer event with Nilou -- how she *imagined* the paper creatures to be alive. This is a theme we're seeing over and over so I'm curious as to where it must be going.
