I'm working on the same truck and some ass hole messed up the oil filter houseing messed up the oil filter trying to take it out to change the pressure line and left the guy truck setting there for a week and now I have to fix what he fuck up and your right every bolt you get too is in a messed up spot

My thing is how they fuck up a oil filter so bad I had to order a pil filter houseing it was so bad I bent my snap on oil filter wrench then I knew the oil filter houseing had to come off it looked like the shot it with a 50 cal. Bullet smh

Gotta love modern engines! No room to move. My Canyon required me to remove the driver's front tire and wheel well and use 2 swivels on my socket wrench just to change my thermostat.

I used a wood chisel instead of a coal chisel cause the wood chisel is sharper and will cut closer cause of the flat side getting closer to the nut, getting as much of the line away from the nut as possible. It was the only place where the line wasn't rusted. Lol. Cut er off clean though.

from under the truck remove the oil filter and drain cover and using an 18mm crows foot remove the high pressure fitting.

Its is way easier and quicker to take the whole pump out to remove and install the high- pressure hose on the pump side - those 10mm bolts appears to be stuck but they are not unless someone put lock tight on it -

Why did you cut the line on the pump,,,, when you already took the pully off the pump?

How you do it is you take out the two upper bolts and the one bottom bolt that isn’t blocked by the pulley. These bolts hold the power steering pump to the block. You put a box end ratchet through the opening in pulley and back out the last bolt and the power steering pump will fall off the block. The. you can remove the high pressure line.

That's what worked for me. 18 mm line wrench for high pressure line

Is the 18 mm “line wrench” a narrow small wrench to better reach through that small space? I just did this job and I have worked on BMW, Mercedes, but this was insane. The access to the fitting was blocked by the coolant hose and oil filter. I had to remove the bolts and the remove the hose mounts to get enough slack to raise up the pump where I could get a wrench on the fitting. Then putting the new pump back I didn’t press the pulley on far enough so had to loosen the fan should which gave me just enough room to use the tool to press on the pulley. Never again.

Nice work, I see you are a rigid man.. so am I .. I have 03,Expedition just recently changed most of my brake lines including master cylinder.. I did my transmission lines last year.. that was a beast of a job.. I do mostly all of my work, car mechanics don't have a clue as to what they are doing (some).. I have to changed my power steering hose(s) soon so any advice would be greatly appreciated.. I love ridgid tools

Great Video. Question: Do you know what the specs were on the 18 mil Bolt coming off the pump line? Also the 10 mil Bolt for the tie down on the valve body that holds the plate for the two lines. For the life of me I cannot find the proper specs. Any help would be greatly appreciated brother! Just in the process of replacing the rack and line. Is there a part 2 (installation video) I could find the specs? Your title is replaced but, you only show the partial removal.

Yes agree talk/ complain too much. Lol. You should have watched more than one video. I removed the front bumper/ four nuts and the plastic shield across the front under the rad, plastic studs. I used a hammer and a wood chisel to cut the line away from the nut behind the power steering easy piesy. The new line comes with the nut seperate from the line. Screw the nut in before putting the line in. The line is held in place with a snap ring and cannot be removed once snapped in place. It has the snap ring and the sealing o-rings already placed inside the big nut. Do not overtighen the big nut, it only needs to seat onto a plastic washer, already also on the nut. Yes of course the return line is going to leek. Replace it now instead of wasting your fluid. And time. I had to weld a two inch by 3/8 bolt all the way around the end of the line and use a socket and rachet to turn and a hammer to remove the end of the steel line that broke off in the hole of the rack. Nothing to it. I am 66 years old, handicapped and full of arthritis and a cancer patient, if I can do it am sure you can. So stop your wasting time complaining and get er done.lol. much love brother.

@@DS-TRUCKS changed my pressure steering hose,,, i cut off the old line with a sawzall blade jus holding the blade with my hand lol, and use a socket to get old one off,, and my new hose came with a quick connect nut that i installed to the pump first with a ratchet and socket,,, then i start tapping the hose/line into the quick connect nut thats already on the pump
