Boy, did this ever come at the right time. I'm gonna sit down tomorrow and make a plan. Happy holidays.

Excellent advice! Funny story about portfolios. A potential customer was looking for a photographer who could tell a story with a series of photographs. So, i, being the wise *ss that I am, sent them a single photo of a Tombstone with the comment "nothing tells a more complete than a tombstone." About a week goes by and my phone rings. The customer said to me, "you must be channeling your Ernest Hemingway," and gave me the job, which oddly enough involved Ernest Hemingway. In this instance, I got lucky, but don't suggest this approach. I had no expectations of getting the job, I responded in a sarcastic way, and by pure chance I nailed it. But the whole idea is that you have to have a plan, do projects for your own edification (it will turn put to be useful sooner or later), never over-do it, and only do it to the point that is necessary. That, and being long winded with a hundred images gets you glossed over. If you can say it with a minimum of images, do it.
