A more apt comparison for the Planet Ocean would be the Sea Dweller. The Omega answer to the Submariner is really the 300M, not the Planet Ocean. Other than that I loved the video! These brand guides are great

Luckily I have a large wrist and can carry off a large watch comfortably. I have a seamaster ploprof 1200m. It came with the mesh strap but I got the orange rubber strap put on it. It’s big, thick and heavy and a beautiful watch. It’s also quite rare (compared to say the planet ocean variations) and I have never met anyone else wearing one. It attracts plenty of good comments and is a conversation starter.

People will never consider Omega a true hype watch alternative because there are just too many models and too many editions. But this is pretty much what Nicolas Hayek wanted, when he founded the Swatch Group back in the day: Great Swiss made watches for everybody. But unfortunately people desire most what is rare. Not necessarily impossible to get but certainly more rare than 1600 readily available Models (except some special editions). But who knows knows and watch lovers and nerds can enjoy their Omegas. Great video guys!

Fantastic video....very educative and unbiased....Omega as a brand offers you all sorts of watches and movements...and none of them seem dated....I have just bought a seamaster 300 dive watch(Silver dial with blue bazel on a rubber strap) and not only is it super comfortable but also addictive to look at and wear.....also fairly reasonably priced when compared to a Rolex.....one thing that I do want to counter here is that it was with the seamaster 300 dive that they(Omega) wished to counter the submariner with...not the Seamaster 600....with that they wanted to counter the rolex sea dweller

Excellent video, well structured and clear. Well done ! I have just added an Omega to my watches and that is the Seamaster titanium NTTD as I found it so unique and absolutely irresistible. This is a very discrete watch, very well camouflaged, under the radar, feather light, slim bezel, slimmer profile aside from the beautiful doomed crystal. And of course it has a COSC & METAS certified co-axial movement. The co-axial movement has a direct link to George Daniel who I consider a horological heroe.

It wasn't mentioned but the Grey Side of the Moon is the best looking chronograph I have ever seen. Amazingly, the case is ceramic rather than steel but you won't know until you feel it. Only downside is that it's also gigantic! But that's chronographs for you. I would also rep the white dial Seamaster Professional 300m. I didn't get the hype around the SMP300 in general until I saw this walking past a boutique, and bear in mind I grew up on Brosnan as Bond. Yeah, this one is the best and it's one of the best executed white dials I've ever seen as it has a brilliant sheen to it. The markers have black outlines done in a probably v. clever way, making the watch extremely legible. The contrast with the black ceramic bezel is icing on its design perfection.

One of the best features of the Speedmaster Professional is the fact it’s missing a distracting date window. I think so many watches would look much cleaner without a date window.
@diegoborgonovo55883 жыл бұрын
I respectfully disagree. I check the date on my watch occasionally, and I never have the need for a chronometer (and few people do, really). The date window is usually small, while the small dials in all chronometers impact very heavily on readability. As a diver, I find the bezel in the dive watches extremely useful but out of the water I prefer a "cleaner" look. My favourite Omega, the 2002 Rail Master. A beauty. No date!

Damn... I was a little bit of a noob when I decided I should present myself a decent watch... seems like I didn't make mistake with Speedmaster Master Chronometer with black dial, still looks classy almost like moon watch (nothing fancy like orange accents), but the "sapphire-sandwitch" and automatic movement were the things which made me decide over classic Moonwatch. I actually went to buy Omega thinking about "Moonwatch", but in practice plastic "crystal" and blank back is really underwhelming. Yes I know policarbonate is authentic as Nasa needed plastic in space in case it shatters, but what is the likelyhood of me going to the space very soon? Perhaps if I going to be in possition to afford space trip, I could buy another Omega just for that! And manual winding... just don't know, I was told it was not so much of an issue, but I feel keeping watch in the winder when not wearing is far easier solution. Just now I learnt that 9900 is apparently as far advanced as mechanisms go, although just looking at the number itself somebody could have guessed it. I kind of wanted "Moonphase", but it being actual watch I weareveryday, I felt that having a date seemed like more practical choice. The only downside... rather underwhelming 50m water resistance... going to the shower it is ok, but near the sea you better of limit yourself to wading, as 50m and diving in salt water does not go well together!

Not that I have children but asking what our favorite Omega is is certainly a similar question.:) My favorite would probably be any Professional (321, 861,1861(3) or 3861) I do like the 3861, especially its bracelet but not enough to switch from the 1861. I have the 57 triliogy anniversary which is a close second.

I have a 1966 moonwatch with the 321 movement in it. I love this watch but I wear it sparingly because of its vintage. I am considering buying another speedie to wear more as a daily because I love these watches so much. I’m torn between the 57 and the moonwatch with a 3861. I would appreciate any opinions on the matter. I also have a planet ocean. This watch is built like a tank! It feels and acts virtually indestructible. It keeps near perfect time. Is extremely legible. The arrow hands and orange end on the second hand along with the orange numerals are awesome. It’s hard to beat Omega at any level, at any price, in any model …. IMO

Very nice summary of the plethora of Omega models, Nathan and team. I guess I always considered the Seamaster Professional (SMP) to be more a direct competitor to the Submariner than the Planet Ocean. SMP has more of the Submariner size and WR. I agree with the Tresor as a beautiful dress watch, but like Cellini with Rolex, most are here for the sports watches, not the dress watches. My favorite Omega is the one on my wrist right now--and almost all the time--the Aqua Terra 38.5 mm blue dial with the 8500 movement--AKA Skyfall (because of its appearance first in the Bond movie of the same name). This iteration of the AT was the only one to have the frame around the date window. The new METAS ATs have a more balanced dial with the date at 6 o'clock and color-matched date wheel, although I am not sure about the conical crown. Cheers!
