Y'all are too cute and your channel always brightens my day! I've never been RV glamping or on a sailboat, but I love the water, fishing, and anything in the great outdoors. My husband and I built a stationary, anchored houseboat in 2000 with all the comforts of home. Unfortunately it was destroyed by a hurricane several years later. We recently bought a very comfortable, "traveling" , motorized houseboat. We love adventure and have traveled a lot in our 50 years of marriage, but we are now in our 70's and mostly use our HB for close to home get-a-ways. We have it anchored out on a beautiful river here in Louisiana with amazing wildlife, Spanish moss covered trees, and spectacular fishing! Love your channel!

I know the feeling. I lived in Japan for three years in the early 1980’s while serving in the Air Force and we were secluded...our TV consisted of what they wanted you to see otherwise you had to learn Japanese; when I got back to the States I was in shock at the choices and what was on TV ... it’s amazing how much one takes “plenty” for granted.

Best ice cream I ever had was when I was on RAGBRAI (bike ride across Iowa), and stopped at an Amish farmstead on a hot day, with big oak trees dotting the yard. They were making home made ice cream from their cows. It was so pure, delicious and delectable.

hi , in miami boat show, can you check on the new antifoulings, Mactac and other stick films, finsulate stick "carpet", Magic paint, and others likely to be showing their stuff. This is a yearly project to upgrade antifouling if the boat remains in water. I used a few types, like ablative, copper, teflon, each had advantages and disadvantages. My cheapest idea i had so far to be tested on my boat this year will be tarp , not sticked , i.e. sort of the boat "bottom in a condom" ... easy to remember ... using rain water and some chlorine . This idea came to me when i was discussing with my friend the possibility to swim in lakes and ocean , and not be bothered by jellyfishes , algeas, etc, My friend was selling a pool like membrane bassin net exactly for that. But my boat would be in it ... sort of vacuumed bagged ... swing keel up, thru hulls piped out, motor (outboard) up. We see those more and more on large yachts for swimming . They end up being full of growth if left in water for a longtime. Check them out, they had them at the FortLauderdale boat show . My ballast has been very successful with bleach and rain water or clean city waters. no odors and no growth inside. I also use the ballast as my floor radiant heating for our cold nights, no mildew !

It is interesting that we did our roaming opposite of you two. In 2010 we left La Cruz in Mexico and sailed around the world on our 52’ Tatyana Deck Salon named Serenity. You are going to all of the places we did. We wintered in Bayswater marina at Auckland NZ our first year. It was a nice place to tie up for awhile as we took the harbor ferry over to Auckland. By the way, there was a guy in Opua, Bay Of Islands, that had a business called Cars For Cruisers. He was an ex-pat that sold used cars to cruisers at a good price and would rebuy them back within a year minus a small percentage. If he is still around we would recommend him. His name was Phil, we think. Anyway, we ended up shipping our boat from Phuket to Marmaris Turkey. Two years in the med, crossed the Atlantic in 2014, through the Panama Canal in 2015 and up the west side to Ventura, Ca our home. We bought a used Fleetwood Revolution, adopted a dog, and visited all 48 contiguous states in 6 months full time RVing. We returned home, sold the rv, and bought a 38’ sea ray to visit our Channel Islands. Last year we sold the boat, adopted another dog, bought a 28’ fleetwood flair and are hoping to visit Alaska this summer. Hope you have calm seas and fair winds, cheers Gordon and Sherry

Locksy Take a pork butt or shoulder sear it on the grill, and put it in a crock pot. Double the salsa recipe made with the tomatillos and pour it over the pork. Cook on low all day. If you need to add liquid add chicken or beef stock. It makes really easy and good Chile Verde. Eat as street tacos with small corn tortillas, shredded cabbage and creama or sour cream, or with rice and beans.

Hey Guys, here's my question for the Miami Boat Show; "Are any of the catamaran manufacturers going with totally electric power plants vs. diesel, or diesel-electric hybrid engines? Hope y'all had a great Christmas, a Super New Year and enjoy the Boat Show! Cheers!
@richardhobbs90385 жыл бұрын
A couple of years ago I was considering buying a salvage Nissan Leaf (had been rear-ended so the front drive, heat-pump, stereo, instruments = all intact) to use as power plant for a sailboat. 24 KW lithium battery would mount above bilge as ballast . Under sail (day or night) can use regen-braking to charge the battery if solar has not been enough. 107 HP motor could allow water skiing , etc. if you configure the boat right ? ! Ha - ha ! The salvage Leaf was $5K . What would it cost to replace the failed 25 HP diesel ? Just a thought . ( Of course I would carry a minimum 2K watt portable generator for system charging/operation . . . . & for luxury surplus power ) For a catamaran you would only replace the failed / worst engine and retain the other hull's power plant since a cat can operate nicely under either or both .

Take your pick of Po Boys to Canes Chicken, OutBack to The catch. Something for everyone. I live in the country. Near me on the main highway are three favorite places, T Blancos for Mexican food, Dukes for fish, and Crawfish Cove down by the Sabine River. Omg! Stow some bags of Masa on your boat and have you a small tortilla press (and have plastic wrap). Get dried milk for doing your icecream and get freeze-dried strawberries. Also got something like that for your boat that dries food. The fruits that you get will last longer if you can dry them. And Salsa... See if there's any such thing as powered salsa that you can just add water to. There again. You might be able to buy the ingredients for making your own salsa and dry the tomatoes or something. Gotta think like an astronaught on your "International Water Station". Also spend a day going over every aspect of your vessel and so you can make sure your boat is a happy boat with all it's needs and make sure you're stocked up with all the lures you need for fishing and the ones that really work have 4 or 5 of that type. Extra spool of fishing line. Also get yourselves a small casting net to use where it's legal to do so at anchorages. A few crab pots would be useful at achorage too (like the collapsable type). Just some ideas to toss at you. Also you could stock up on freeze dried icecream to nibble on while on watch. Rasins are something that will keep well.

I love your #1 pick. I can eat the whole bottle & chips. If I run out of dip I just munch on the hit of lime chips. There so good even by thereself. Oh I'm going to have to make that 20 min drive to the store, but I'm going to be smart & buy 2 bottles of salsa & 2 bags of chips. That away I'll be better off & not run out of either one @ midnight when I'm craving them darn things. It's addictive & your always running out of one or the other @ the wrong time of the night. And usually you always have more of one then you do of the other. It never comes out equal amounts. I always have more chips then salsa. Maybe I should have less salsa on my chips then it might come out closer @ the end of the salsa bowl..... lol... Oh well I'm going to anyways have that problem of having more of one then the other. And I love my salsa to chip ratio, 3 parts salsa to one part chip. It's spot on. Have a great time away from the boat. Eat & drink while you can & be may you have a smile of contentment on your face. And may the salsa God's be w/you in your journeys, Chris from Missouri

What about accessibility of fresh ingredients to make your own salsa? I’m a California girl living in rural Australia and the salsa situation is pretty much the same as you describe so we make our own but even then certain chilies are only mail order (we grow our own serranos, jalapeños, and paprikas but good luck finding a poblano).

I’m disappointed y’all aren’t doing a meet and greet here in Texas before you head back to Curiosity. Hopefully on your next trip back to the states you can plan one. Enjoyed this video, I’ve worked in other countries for many years and I always had to hit my favorites as soon as I got back home. Love you guys!

I lived in Sydney for 15 years. My partner and I moved to Rarotonga last year and I was very surprised to find a variety of ingredients. I was so happy because I am able to make food that I miss back in Australia. #winning

Living near Old Towne Orange in Socal I miss the diversity of food choices when I am away. It's so amazing to be able to find Malaysian, Peruvian or Polish restaurants or markets only a short drive away, and the farmers' markets are awesome.

As an Aussie who just went home to my food after 3 years. Tin Passion fruit, fantales, minties, pies-meat, BBQ sauce Masterfiod (American BBQ sauce has too much sugar) plus a few other foods. I brought back what I could. Living in Vancouver.
