What is it like to travel full-time with pets? It's incredible. But now we're being forced to make the most difficult decision of our lives: Continue sailing around the world with our cats or let them retire back in the USA.

Traveling about the world for the past 10 years with two cats has been an adventure, to say the least. They’ve sniffed, hunted and marked more territories in their lifetime than any other pawed creature I know. From climbing mountains, descending into canyons and lapping from glacial rivers, there isn’t much these two furry travelers haven’t done.
Choosing to live an alternative lifestyle, especially one as a nomad, comes with its challenges. Luckily for us, both Singa and Cleo have adapted and thrived through the ever-changing journey.
Our thousands of miles together around North America were mostly seamless and straightforward. Even moving aboard a sailboat proved to be more of a challenge for us humans than the felines. But, 13,000 nautical miles later we’re at a crossroads.
We’ve been confronted with some hard decisions and it’s been an emotional roller-coaster. But, it’s a part of our story and not one we want to leave you out on. This is the most difficult story we’ve ever shared, and you may want a handkerchief close by for the ending.

Gone with the Wynns My girlfriend and I cried so much ... and cuddled our 2 dogs a little more that night. Watching your Chanel for years, I often thought of the day one of your cats crosses the rainbow 🌈 bridge 🐾. I imagined your sadness, how you might do a possible burial at sea ceremony on the boat etc etc. But oh the sadness of 1st having to decide to separate from them (although you found the perfect place). This was sad 😢 and tragic enough. But I feel so much for you and for your loss, that you could not be with Cleo during his last moments. I’m really sorry it turned out that way. I’m sure if you had known you would have stayed close by until the end. 😔Hindsight is 2020. For having said last goodbye to a few of my furry family members, I feel your pain. Hope Singa is adapting to his new life and to the loss of his friend. Will be easier for him with the new friends than what would have been on the boat. Take time to grieve and thanks for sharing even this emotional part of your life. 🐈

@@vgandersonauthor Cleo was doing very well with her medications and special diet for her kidney disease. She had settled in nicely at Mutiny Ranch and was enjoying life there. She was happy there for a couple of months and there were no indications that she was about to die. In fact, when she did pass it was so sudden that Lynn & Clark didn't have time to grab car keys or call the vet. She died swiftly and peacefully in Clark's lap. Now everyone is entitled to their opinion, and if you clearly cannot see the logic of Nikki & Jason not wanting Cleo to be in a place with zero vet care, at 19 years old and with a life-ending chronic condition, then that is your choice. BUT, if you cannot express your opinion in a more civilized manner without name-calling & vitriol, I will ban you from this channel (as I do with all trolls who cannot express themselves like reasonable adults). @@gonewiththewynns You people really don't get it. I'm with V.G. This isn't about chastising them for leaving Cleo somewhere she could get vet care. DUH. This is about chastising irresponsible pet owners for ditching her there. One of the largest parts of responsible pet care is making sure YOU, the pets people, are where the animals can get care, and continue to receive YOUR companionship. The companionship the animal spent 19 YEARS becoming dependent on and is a HUGE part of their survival and safe passing from this life. Yeah, she died sooner than expected, they ditched her after 19 years, leaving her in emotional distress on top of her physical problems. Only the most selfish and cold-hearted people among us would be capable of such a despicable act.

Even though I knew a day ahead of time that the video was coming out I still couldn't watch it right away. I waited till afternoon and was still not prepared. Thank you so much for the care you put into creating this beautiful tribute. Even though we were there for Cleo's passing it still tore me up to see the words on the screen. Feel your pain. You are amazing cat owners, though. When a cat reaches 19 and is still quite capable and mobile you know you have done right by it. I wondered how well they would handle the boat life. I think they actually enjoyed it, as it was the two of you who made it a stress free experience for the cats.

Omg. The range of emotions I had. When I first saw the title I figured you had to put Cleo down. Then when you told us that both cats were retiring on the ranch I was happy, but sad for you, and had tears in my eyes as Jason did. I knew I would miss seeing them on the videos, but at least they would be happy. Then at the end you told us of Cleo's passing, and again tears. But as you said she had a wonderful life filled with adventure, and two very loving parents. This whole video just hurt my heart. I didn't realize just how attached I had gotten to seeing your fur babies, the tears are still flowing while I'm typing. You both faced an impossible decision with all the love and grace that I've come to cherish on your channel. Crying, feeling the feels again from losing my last cat over 10 years ago. She was 18, and had moved across the country with me at least 3 times. It’s hard to imagine getting another cat after having such an amazing one. I know this video is from 3 years ago, but this just brought that back - the great life I had with her and the empty place I still have in my life without her. Our pets give us their unconditional love and in return we have a burden, to do the right thing for them even when it hurts so damned bad. Too often our cats and our dogs go down suddenly, and at the end we are left with just those fresh, bad memories. So glad you had time to say a proper goodbye, and that Cleo's last weeks were spent in happiness and lifted with the spirit of a new adventure. Hope the many wonderful memories of your journeys with your kids will help ease your weary hearts.

Only recently started to watch your videos and noticed there was a cat, curiosity drove me to this video. I just could not finish watching this; just more than a year ago I lost my 18-year old fur baby cat. Brought back so many memories. But the dear Lord had a stray move in a month later. Took her to the vet last year to have fixed but was already fixed. Now we have a new cat, this time a little girl cat that just loves to bring us geckos. Said to my partner I am not going to get attached again, but too late for that. Love watching your videos, thank you for sharing.

Didn't want to click on this video at first because I was afraid of what might have happened to the 'sea-cats'. Saying goodbye even when it's for the best, is never, ever easy. A peaceful retirement but one still filled with new adventures and friends. Though for Cleo her retirement was short, she crossed the Rainbow Bridge with Singa by her side and all the memories the four of you made and shares together. With that she was lifted up on wings of love -- Gone from this world but forever in your hearts and the hearts of those who have shared your adventures.

This is the only you tube video that ever made me cry. I was a big fan of yours when you were doing the RV thing, not so much when you switch to the boat; but for some reason this video came up on the top of my recommended videos, after watching it I know why. Each of them leaves an indelible mark upon our soul as they share their lives with us. My Lila, now nearly 12, has been fighting corneal necrosis for the last 6 mo. She's my BFF, rescued from a bamboo grove near our building when she was less than a month old. I'll miss seeing your babies on board.

We LOVED you guys when you were RVing with your little furry family...While we are empowered by your jump into the cruising lifestyle TBH we stopped watching when there was alot of talk about monies and "a blow is a comin'"...However, your example of taking your kiddos with you has been an inspiration...We can surely say regardless of our families health issues we would never give our kiddos up..We would rather they or we pass in each others loving arms than be apart...a real bummer for you guys....some respect lost too...your crying tells the whole story of a bad decision....

@@johndiezel5781 Your defense of the Wynns is misguided...My belief is that if you take in a family member, furry or otherwise that is commitment you make for life, not until it suits YOUR life or more importantly your travel plans...Case in point, I have cancelled 2 international vacations in the last year because we took in a 3 year old herding dog that had never been trained or socialized; that had largely been left in an outside kennel, by 3 different families, that no other family would adopt..8 months later she is one of the most amazing furry kiddos I have ever had.. Further, 2 of my current furry kiddos require medications twice daily and we have had several others who also required regular medical care all of whom passed of old age in our loving arms with their family..So in your blind defense of the Wynns, don't misjudge my statement. In my view again I would NEVER give up a pet to suit my future life or travel plans...especially one that had been in my family for soo long..A horrible decision for that animal to lose its seemingly forever family

Your heart will never be the same!!! I rescued Rottweilers for the past 30 years, and after loosing the last two to senior illnesses.... my heart just said no more. The pain of losing your best bud's was to much!!! Nikki & Jason -- So very sorry to learn of Cleo's passing. It takes great care to help a house cat reach nearly 20 years of age -- a sign of just how much love and care you provided for her. We are glad to know that Singa has taken to his new home with some relish. Hope that your travels will allow you to adopt and continue to travel with cats at some point in the future. There are lots of cats in this world that need loving homes which you have clearly provided in spades.

Sorry for your loss. Cleo has been a large part of your traveling past. I "caught up" on your RV videos a few years ago and have been following you ever since. We pass through Cortez every 2 years or so when we visit family. I can say I know/knew someone from Cortez. Our daughter started a church service mission last October. Her cat, Sadie, passed away last month. It was hard but our family was by Sadie's side. -- Love you guys.
