Hey, I heard plants like anubus would rather root on wood and large stones, does that STILL MEAN THEY CAN IN GRAVEL? just NOT AS WELL? I accidentally turned on caps and am too lazy to fix it, don't judge.

Thanks man. Your Video has steered me in the right direction. I recently planted some plants from Petco and Petsmart. Neither are doing well. Probably by design. Keeps folks coming back for more replacements. I am heading to an actual aquarium store in Wake Forest tomorrow to see if they have your list in stock. Thought it might be good to support local, true aquarium supply stores are getting few and far between. I will keep watching, keep up the good work.

Thanks for sharing this! I'm just planning to get my first tank (112l/30 gal) and I'm trying to decide how to make it work on 'low-tech' conditions. What puzzles me the most is this: is gravel alone sufficient enough for the plants you mentioned in the video? And second, how should one choose the amount of seedlings to plant in a starter tank? They are going to spread, aren't they? I know fish keepers use a formula for the max amount of seedling per tank, but what would you advice to the novice?

Yes gravel can support the plants with root tabs and just plant the hell out of the tank. You. Am always sell or trade clippings

I am fixing to setup a curved glass small aquarium that was re-gifted to me....I originally gave it to my brother who finally gave up trying to control severe algae...his bad, my gain. I used to have quite a few aquariums decades ago and things have changed so much I am not sure how to start. We used to use under gravel filters and no high tech stuff. I would like to go for a well planted tank so my question is best substrate but also easy and one and not conducive to sever algal growth. I hear Amazonia etc. can have these severe problems.....some guidance would be appreciated.

First day I put my amazon sword into my tank there was already a new leaf, new leafs would pop up at least every 5-7 days..after about 2 months the leaf growth slowed down each time and there were no runners witch i was dissipointed of..so i decided to split the plant in 2 so I had 2 separate plants and what do u know? The plant is regrowing again, it took 2 weeks for it to i guess settle in but after that the leafs started popping up again in my situation it was a bit risky since I foolishly cut only 3 leafs for the 1 half and 8 leaves for the other half of the plant, the roots litterally went across the entire tank so they both had good roots to start off and i used root tabs and liqued ferts to help particularly the plant with only 3 leafs to make it, turns out both plants did just fine i used scissors to cut the plant in half so I think aslong as you half nice long roots/good roots then it will be fine if u only cut 3 leaves like i did

You have been a great help cause of you im getting a fx6 for my 125. Now id like to know something else...i have a 75 with about 40 little swordtail molly should i also put a fx6 on that or 2 smaller canister filters the tank has been established for 2 years but i want to get away from hob filters.i hate the cartridges id rather use better filter material. And last.... I can't find Italian Lily Val anywhere can you recommend a place...you have been such a help thanks!!!
