Clipper is the main brand of lighter in the UK, all are refillable with changeable flints, they're the same to us as bic is to you guys, only bic is cheap disposable junk.

A possible reason the 1st one may have had issues lighting unless only on low setting is because you just filled it and butane would have been cold

Clipper is a great brand, I have a couple Jet Clipper lighters, a titanium metal one and several of the standard refillable plastic ones but of various different designs

The clipper, when you hold it uppright it give a normall flame but when holding it sideways it willproduce a bigger flame. they are made that way for bongs.

Righty tight lefty loosey. You are opening the gas to get bigger flame. Closing it to the right is less gas lower flame. You can use your finger to adjust it. Even with cut nails.
