These are five bands I first heard on the radio, and because of the song I heard, I bought an album.

the late 70s / early 80s wee a fantastic time 🙂 we had the Friday Rock Show here in the UK. You'd hear a track once, and then waited for Tommy Vance to tell us what it was before going to try and get it in the local record store. much better than these modern timers where everything is available at the press of a button. I think we valued our music so much more back then. Back then? I've turned into my father!!!

Well indeed! I can appreciate the modern advantages of being able to quickly find out about a band, album, or song, and also to be able to locate just about anything in the world rather than just what the local shop had on the shelves. But to contrast, I would listen to the radio metal shows or watch the music video programs hoping to hear a song or two that piqued my interest, versus now when I dare not open up too many rabbit holes lest I blow the bank on ordering too many CDs! Many of those barely get played twice before the next fanciful sounds fall under the order finger.

Hi Peter! This was really enjoyable! I am one of those few people who actually still listens to FM radio, albeit mostly college stations. I am going to give this some thought and put a video together. One of my best friends lives in Vancouver and I just sent him a link to this video.

Hey, that's awesome! Yeah, let's see your take on this. Be sure to tag me. I've been watching a lot of geology videos lately. Sorry VC. But it still about rock!

Hi Peter. I'm not familiar with these bands but your recollection is amazing. Pretty good topic for the VC. Greg

You heard these on the radio? Woah! I grew up with a local am station that played country (I actually don't mind some country now) all week and then had the top 40 on a Saturday night. Talk about partying in a country town. It wasn't until I moved to Melbourne and discovered community radio Triple R & PBS that changed everything for me. Sonics rock!! Well done on a sub 10min video👍 Cheers...Ben

That sounds like you grew up in a one-horse town! I bet it made your Saturday nights though, sort of. Yes, I'm trying for under 10 or at least 15. Somehow it rarely works out that way.

Really cool video there. The only band I can say I got into because I heard them on the radio is Stormwitch because a kids' radio show would play 'Tigers of the Sea' every day for a couple of months.

A kids' radio show played Stormwitch. Hmm... Now I'm curious. I've gotta hear that one! Thanks for the compliment, by the way!
