Robin's son, Robin John Gibb, said "When he passed away we went out, they took the equipment away and we came back in, I picked up my phone and found "I Started a Joke" on KZbin and played it. I put the phone on his chest and that was the first time I broke down. I knew that song and its lyrics were perfect for that moment. That song will always have new meaning to me now."

Okay, I've been waiting for you all to realize this. Robin makes the BeeGees what it is. You cannot have the BeeGees sound without Robin at all. The timber and purity of his voice is crazy. He was always overshadowed by Barry, which is why Robin and Barry struggled a lot in their relationship. I think Robin had resentment. I grew up listening to the BeeGees and I will tell you that they were played in my house from the very beginning and through the disco phase. My parents loved them throughout. This sounds really unpleasant and you can hear the difference to Barry's falsetto extremely clearly (from which his falsetto is also available "isolated")!!! When the Bee Gees went "disco" (it was actually R&B-based), they lost many fans, but gained millions of new ones, and eventually, all of the fans were able to reconcile the two phases as part of a whole incredible body of work. One of the reasons the group broke up temporarily in the late 60s is because Robin decided he could be a star without his brothers, and he did have a substantial solo career, but eventually came back to the group and they made history together.

I'm not quite old enough to have witnessed firsthand their transition to disco, but I've listened to all their albums and am fascinated to see how it played out. Their album "Mr. Natural" was their last pre-disco album, in like '74, and it didn't have any hits, but it's really good and has a lot of hints of things to come. Robin’s voice was spectacular ❤ I love Robin, All 4 brothers had great voices and all together they were extraordinary ❤ quite a number of Robins song you have to listen to. Plus Maurice singing Closer than close and Man in the Middle, he sang after giving up alcohol 👍🏻😁🏴

Quando o react é com os Bee Gees, eu já dou 👍🏻 antes de assistir. Simplesmente amo os Bee Gees! Eles tem músicas maravilhosas que não são exploradas como por exemplo "Dearest", "Country Lanes", "I Could Not Love You More", "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow" e muitas outras. Vocês vão amar!😊🇧🇷

Their very last single & video from 2001, "This Is Where I Came In", also has Robin singing mostly lead (but not entirely), but in a very different sound from the usual Bee Gees music catalog. It was the last single from their last album before Maurice died unexpectedly. It remains one of my favorite Bee Gees songs... just because of Robin's great voice and the different but great musical arrangement. Looking forward to whenever you get a chance to react to it.

Spend an hour with Bee Gees 1st. It's perhaps the 2nd or 3rd album I purchased as a young lad at 14 years of age and now as a 70 + year old person, it's never been forgotten or removed from my list of monthly plays. The transition from this style to the disco world was necessary for them to make a living and the rest is history. Personally, the progression from their beginning to that time period was amazing and I am not confidant a new listener could ever duplicate that experience, but this group is always a delight, no matter what age group you are part. Thank you for the video.

He sings way too much thru the nose. Worst nasal sound ever. If Barry hadn’t taken over the lead singing, this band would have not been what it became. Hes way too nasally. Music 101, “don’t sing thru your sinuses”

Great reaction to one of my top favorite Bee Gees songs of all time. I like all of their musical periods, even the much neglected post-disco Bee Gees. This song, I seem to remember reading that Robin wrote this song while feeling very depressed, maybe even suicidal depression. It is a sad song. But so damn beautiful.

I remember hearing or reading of this also.... So sad but, thank God he was okay and he was there to sing this beautiful sad song. RIP Robin

In the 1960s I only had albums by The Beatles & BeeGees. The big change in their sound came with Jive Talking, and the album Main Course which was more soul. After that the transition to the more disco sound. I loved it all, especially the diversity of sounds. When the disco demolition & ‘BG free’ weekends on the radio happened, it made me angry. They had 29 top 40 hits & 9 number 1 hits. And only 2 groups held 5 of the top 10 songs at the same time (Beatles & BeeGees). I was glad they had MANY top hits in the 80s writing for others, and were recognized with achievement awards & recognition before Mo passed! Can’t wait for the biopic Barry is working on to come out!

This was the music of my childhood. I am 63. The disco Bee Gees came later. It was almost a true second career and it was a very different sound. Music was somehow more innocent in the 60’s. The bands were all wearing matching suits like the Beatles did. This song is on my playlist for when I am feeling down. My sad playlist. Robin Gibb is the soulful one in the group.

Can we talk about how they wrote and sang these amazing songs and they were barely out of their TEENS!!!! I have loved The Bee Gees all my life. All the eras. Thank you for this.
