*Roasting nuts at home: Roasting nuts is a tricky business. If you like roasted nuts, I suggesting using temperatures at or below 265 - 285 F (130 - 140 C) for 20 minutes. The temperature sensitivity of nuts derives from their fragile omega-6 fats. But because macadamia nuts are low in omega-6, they are more stable. Even at 150 °C/ 300 °F, macadamia are okay. In fact, if you roast equal amounts of macadamia and walnuts at 300 F, the macadamia will end up with 1/30th the oxidized fats (pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/25766....

I'd only suggest adding organic pasture raised eggs, specifically the yolks if you don't like egg white. Also recommend 100% grass fed/grass finished organic beef sausage, and fermented A2-grass fed dairy, like kefir and yogurt. If you can find raw, even better.

The literature shows benefit from 15 - 30 nuts per day. I did out the path for someone else. If you buy the 1kg back from my landing page, it's $1.33 per day when applying the NICK10 discount code. So, all things considering, not a bank breaker IMHO. People spend far more on coffee and donuts daily for far less nutrition!@@eunicebelting

For years I ate macadamia nuts occasionally, without trouble. Usually I got them in the shell and had to crack them open using a hammer. Then after a break of a year or two I had a few (already out of the shell) and had my usual food-allergy symptoms. I’m not as allergic to them as I am to poppy seeds, but I still can’t eat them.

Interesting. OT but I find this term "insulin resistance" quite irritating, it is used as if its a pathology, like there is something wrong, when it is as I understand it the mitochondria downregulating their sensitivity either when they have sufficient energy substrate, or lipid and glucose at the same time (Randal Cycle). So it is actually a positive response to the environment and not a pathology, it is the environment (diet/lifestyle etc) that is the problem and is reversed by eating only carbs or only fats or just not eating at all, no need to eat macadamia nuts? Although they are still delicious.

He used the terms cis and trans in context of omega 7 discussion, where have I heard those terms before?
@CaptainDave05

In chemistry there is the concept of isomers - chemicals with the same formula, but a different shape (L and R isomers are mirror images for example). Cis and trans isomers have key groups on the same side or opposite sides, respectively. The different shape means they act differently in the body, and may or may not fit properly into receptor sites in the cellular machinery (some may not fit as well, some get stuck there blocking others, etc). Hope this is clear, my biochemistry class was... 35 years ago?

I find interesting the terms that are used to steer society. For instance the association of the term fat, being fat, dietary fat as an association as being bad. Cholesterol in the body, cholesterol in food as being bad. A few examples.

Omega 7 found in anything we ate historically (like elephants, mammoths, hippos, rhinos, etc.)? If not... in addition to these 5 benefits it's probably also giving you eyeball cancer.

Actually, kinda' TVA is a fatty acid found in ruminant meat that gets converted into Palmitoleic acid at pretty high rates. Palmitoleic acid is also boosted by high fat dairy.

If some non-animal-based nutrient shows benefit, then most likely it or a precursor would be found in or mimicking another nutrient found in the evolutionary diet.

I ate a lot of walnuts for a year because I got bored of eating only avocados and olive oil for unsaturated fats to prevent high LDL. Then I developed moles on my skin and am still developing them. It turns out that walnuts are high in omega-6s and can cause cancer. Now I may develop skin and other cancers in the future.
