Some of the best fighters in the world train on concrete and dirt floors and have shit falling apart gear. It doesnt matter what gear you have as long as you and your training partners dont get injured and you train and dont stop. Some low end everlast gloves are dangerous for sparring. Buying expensive gloves because they motivate you to train is a piss poor reason. I havent gotten to that part of the video but if it is indeed a kid then he wasted his parents money. Idgaf but if someone came to me for advice about gloves/gear that would be my 2 cents.

I've owned everything from cheap ProBoxing brand gloves, to Superare, to Everlast PowerLock, Fairtex , Hayabusa, Cleto, and Winnings. Pro Boxing Hook & Loop (16oz): $30 is the main pro to these gloves. Great for a starter or the very casual boxer. They fall apart if you do any serious training though. Con is that they are very low quality. Rating: 2/5 Price: $30 Superare Hook & Loop (10oz): I love the Superare Fight Store but for the price of their in house gloves I'd save your money. They look amazing and unique but the craftsmanship just isn't there for how much they charge. 2.5/5 Price: $120-$200 Everlast PowerLock Hook & Loop (16oz): In terms of a budget glove the PowerLocks were actually really impressive. If you are on a budget or don't plan on boxing very regularly they are a great purchase. Down side is if you do workout a lot the padding breaks down after a few months. Rating: 3/5 Price: $50-$100 Fairtex Hook & Loop (14oz): Good quality glove but the wrists were a little short for me (Thai style glove). They also are a little too roomy for my taste. My hands even when wrapped don't fit as snuggly as I'd like. But as I said great quality for a glove under $100 (on sale). Rating: 3.5/5 Price: $80-$130 Hayabusa Hook & Loop (16oz): For the T3s are awesome. Best wrist support of all the gloves I own because they have the dual splint and double hook veltcro straps in them which is great. They also incorporate microfiber on the thumb which you can wipe sweat from your face with, I like that feature. Down side, compared to Cleto or Winning the padding and fit is not as good. Rating: 4/5 Price: $130-$170 Cleto Reyes Hook & Loop (16 oz) : Love these. Once you break them in they are amazing. Padding is great for knuckles and wrist. One thing you'll notice about high end gloves is that they also don't start to smell like cheaper brands. I've owned the Cletos years and they still smell like leather. They feel like the most well made gloves that I own. I'm a huge promoter of grabbing a pair if you're serious about training. Rating: 5/5 Price: $170-$190 Winning MS-600 Lace ups (16oz): They hit softer than Cleto's and they feel great out of the box without needing to be broken in. Well made and the padding is amazing. Although, I think Cleto has better wrist support. If you ever take a pair for a spin you'll see why the pros love them. Down side is they are extremely pricey. I was able to get mine brand new for super cheap from a rich guy I know who owned multiple pairs and had some sitting around. Lucky me. Rating: 5/5 Price: $300-$500 Overall Conclusion: If you are planning on training regularly my suggestion is go with Cleto Reyes for best price to quality. You'll spend $200 up front but you'll notice the immediate jump in feel and quality from gloves that are $60-$70 less and frankly, the Cletos will outlive those gloves by years. My Cletos and Winnings still feel like day one. I can't say the same about the others. But, if you're on a budget or boxing is just a fun side hobby there are plenty of gloves out there to suit your needs. The most important thing to remember is that no glove I've owned ever helped me in the ring. I've had on Winnings and been smacked around by better boxers wearing the gym's loaner gloves. The glove doesn't make the boxer, dedication, hard work, and heart do.
@Rocatagliata255 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for this honest opinion and excellent sumnary. I found amazing that you said Cleto and Winning gloves can last for years and years, I thought that was impossible. I can't wait to buy a Cleto or an used Winnings lol In my country there are just few local sports who sell things for boxing and the majority have cheap brands specially the infamous Everlast. I've had two pairs of Everlast Gloves and they just last 2 months and then start to crumble in the inside and obviously since the swet touch them they start to smell like swety socks, really sad thing.

nvan guy I didn't take to Reyes... they hit hard but are a little stiff and don't protect the knuckles that well. I have a wide hand, and they feel a little tight too. I naturally hit hard, so I don't need extra help from the gloves. On the contrary, I need something to protect the knuckles and wrists. the Everlast Protex3 is my choice for fighting and training. they are naturally clinched into punching position and really make me forget I'm even wearing them because of how natural and balanced they are. but yeah I had a similar experience with Venoms

@yec40442 жыл бұрын
Been debating getting those. How are they?
@rafaelguasp11412 жыл бұрын
@@yec4044 they are amazing for me. Very comfortable, doesn't need much of a break in, the double strap makes your wrist feel more stable therefore it allows you to concentrate more in power and not worry 2 much about technique so you dont sprain your wrist. It also has, at the top of the wrist, this thing where it blocks your wrist to cock back due to a bad punch, and prevent wrist spains further more. It's more of a sparring glove tho. I recommend leather gloves for the heavy bag so you feel more pop in your punches. But this glove is a bit of a "dummy" proof where an experienced boxer might feel like he doesnt need the extra wrist protection. But for beginners this glove is amazing. Could I have gotten a cheaper glove and gotten the same? Maybe. But I think the anti wrist sprain, the material of the glove, how comfortable it is.. its def worth it. Theres something about putting the second strap around the wrist, as opposed to most gloves just having one, that gives you the feeling of thinking u can punch a hole through a brick wall. And the anti wrist sprain def gives you more confidence. I def recommend watching YT videos on it tho, to get a better judgement.

We did use AIBA gloves to prepare for AIBA bouts (I wore 10oz as I'm 10 stone or less and lads above 64kg wore 12oz). As for puncher's gloves vs Winning like gloves, nobody cared. You gotta have a sharp defense to compete so we just took it as incentive lol. Anyways, most of us were Travellers and weren't strangers to bare knuckle contests.

Cleto Reyes for 70 dollars?! In Italy the cheapest are around 150 euro! And the good ones are between 220-280€!
@ek74045 жыл бұрын
He got them in Mexico, much cheaper over there. Here in the US they’re about $180 (160 euro).

Big fan of Rival bag gloves. I'd love a pair of Winning but agree the price is too steep. That said, I agree with some below that you should get the best you can afford. You can do more for longer and you'll have less joint issues.

Im not a boxer but looking for gloves to train with against a heavy bag. Any suggestions? I want something small which also feels natural. Would bandage only be enough and if so what would be considered good dimensions?

Mr Nugget all the good adidas globes are 500usd+, and the only good venum gloves in my opinion are the venum hammer

They are still injection molded foam. So freaking hard. I had a pair and sent em back. Ring to Cage and Sabas are so much better .
@JM-wo2bk6 жыл бұрын
Idk man you must've got a real faulty pair, just got mine and the foam is real soft and comfortable. It's difficult to feel hard shots on the bag because of how resistant but pliable the foam is. What I'm worried about is the wear and tear on the outside of the glove
@Processor6096 жыл бұрын
These hurt when you get hit with them, especially if they're old. With headgear, plus the bounce of the glove before you get hit with the knuckles, it's a more dramatic hit actually when sparring and they're old
