Came across your video by coincidence...made me giggle. I'm an Ol' Fart, compliment really, 'cause only the new farts stink. When I introduced my grandson to fishin' with his OWN pole and his OWN "stuff", 'bout 6 years ago, he was 5. I handed him a little tackle box, clip on the belt kind and a 5'9", used to be 6' pole...had 6# Walmart line. The tackle box LITERALLY had exactly the 5 baits you recommended. The boy started gettin' but from the git go...and he be fishin' ever since. Thanks a bunch for the video, if people would follow your recommendations, they'll be fishin' and catchin' ... Tight lines young man, God bless.

Cane pole and worms digging in the dirt and wading creeks and fishing with lures that have stood the test of time. So many new lures out there and so many people seem to forget what the same lures are being sold since before they were born. Thank ya bud your a good man for teaching your grandson and passing it on

The best thing I have personally found is a beetle spin with a 1/16 red head, Chartreuse and black body. Split tail or straight tail. I take the spinning apparatus off. You then take a large needle, a white spinner bait skirt and thread two separate strands of white skirt and thread them on. This will give the lures two legs on each side.Trim them to desired length. Any similar plastic lure will work but the beetle spin plastic holds up way longer than anything else I’ve found. They can’t resist those dangling spider legs. Good Luck.
@TBassFactory Жыл бұрын
That’s awesome Don what you did to the beetlespin. I bet that catches them. I like it.

We used the spinners other times but in low wind 1/32 on a spider is killer. In the wind and a little deeper water I sometimes throw 1/16.

Great information on this video Derek. Glad you included the crawfish, the only thing is to try and get them in white or close to the the red or maroon color. From personal experience the maroon color catches the most and gets them most strikes. I guess the next best thing is get a red jig head. I was sent some crappie jigs from a company and they were maroon color and I had twenty minutes of daylights last night and I caught my PB bluegill almost a pound. She hit like a bass

Having fished multiple s in different sizes and colors, kzbin.infoUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 this is by far my favorite. One thing to be aware of is the sided willow blade. One side is silver and the other is the green/orange shown. This is not bad, just unconventional. In terms of fishing, I have found the lure works just fine without a tail like a craw or shad. That addition is up to you. Also, the hook part where you attach the swivel snap or tie the line is a problem on baits these days, since it's able to slide up and down. However this lure seems to be tight enough that that doesn't happen often, and you can solve it by putting a thin slice of medical tube over the hook before attaching the line. Like others have said, it's really magic on a good windy day.

2lb test, green or dark blue filament, ultralite bobbers, and a artificial white or dark tail, a crappie minnow on the tail hook. Real in slow to fast and variate the draw. To me, a Blue Gill, or Largemouth are the best eating lake fish. The greatest fun I have had fishing is taking kids under 11 or 12 and put them on panfish. I still have great memories of my son and daughter pulling in their first sunnies and crappies, the giggles from my daughter and the look of pride from my son, cannot be replaced. For springtime bluegill fishing especially, I often use some of the smallest little spinnerbait "arms" that I have ... I clip on a little jighead of 1/16 or 1/32 oz. and slip on a tiny twistertail or such ... I use 2 lb. Maxima green or 4 lb. Stren blue line ... will also clean up on crappie and the smaller bass that often hang out with the bigger bluegills in waters up to about 10' deep ...
