As we are closing out 2022 I thought we might take some time to chat about some Brutal truths I think guys need to accept in order to live their best lives. In a world of participation trophies and trigger warnings I though we might need a little real talk for a minute to get a break from all the nonsense and recalibrate before we dive into 2023.

Thanks for this, Jeremy. I'm 62, and yes, I look back on being in my 40s and reflect on what an idiot I was sometimes. The main things a guy in his 60s has figured out: Every person we meet knows something we need to learn, what we think matters way more to us than to anyone else, and we've lived longer than we have left, so we can't afford to spend time doing useless stuff like worrying about what other people think.

Gramps, if you think you were an idiot in your 40s, as you put it, then you'd better not look towards your 20s. I'm barely 30s and I wish to wipe my 20s from my memory.
@rangersmith4652

@@Hynotama Gramps?? I am in effect a grandfather, but have I somehow earned that often derogatory title? I think not. I see that in your 30s you haven't yet learned to respect your elders.
@Hynotama
@Hynotama Жыл бұрын
@@rangersmith4652 When did "gramps" become derogatory? And I'm no expert, but it seemed rather rude if called you "bro", as kids do these days. That was my attempt at acknowledging the age difference and showing a modicum of respect. Then again, I'm not american, nor am I a native english speaker, so maybe those ways of addressing someone come across differently to me, because of the cultural and linguistic differences. You'd think a 62 year old man would have learned not to make assumptions about strangers. And don't ask for respect just because you existed 6 decades. It's not nearly as impressive as people think. Respect is earned, not demanded. Maybe elders should remember that.
@rangersmith4652
@rangersmith4652 Жыл бұрын
@@Hynotama Thank you for your reply and explanation. One might call his own grandfather "gramps" or some variation thereof, but it is otherwise a term one uses to imply that the person being addressed has seen better days and due to age has lost his relevance or ability to make a difference. If one is uncertain how a term might be interpreted, one could simply not use it. That's part of what we older folks have learned, or ought to have learned anyway. To summarize, your reply need not have included the word at all, and had it not, I would have taken it as 100% positive.

Realizing that I’m a man and that I’m responsible for keeping my family feeling safe, secure, and able to lean on me was the greatest thing I’ve ever been told when I was in a deep, deep slump that I almost didn’t make it out of. I could’ve lost everything but it wouldn’t been at my own hand. I wasn’t allowing that to happen anymore. Don’t wish it were easier, wish you were better. The last one is important. I grew up in a religious family and was always taught to be obedient and to disregard my own needs/feelings in favour of getting along with others. Also my father was a bit overbearing and volatile so i learned to walk on eggshells to avoid trouble. These qualities are dangerous around the wrong people and if you're this kind of person you may attract people who will take advantage of your good nature. I've had a friend who I eventually figured out was a narcissist, he was controlling and abusive and he knew how to get away with it. Normally if you dislike how someone treats you, you just distance yourself and eventually they are not part of your life. Narcissists refuse to leave, they won't let you go but they won't treat you right and you can become trapped in this situation...until you accept that YOU HAVE TO BE THE BAD GUY. Now, its obviously them that's destroyed the relationship but you have to take the blame.

I needed this. I lost my father a few years ago and I miss getting these bits of truth from him. He was a veteran and one of the best people that I ever knew. Your "be nice until you're not" comment hits home that was one of his lessons as well. We called him "Mr. Perfect" not because he was "perfect" per se, but he worked hard and never complained. He got the job done and never whined about it. That is what I truly miss about him. At any rate, I find your videos and wisdom are down to earth and people need to hear this worldwide. Thank and have a merry Christmas. #boldfortune #tiegehanley

These truths are for everyone, men and women both. These are the same things my dad instilled in me and I am a woman. He also taught all of his daughters to be independent and not 'need' a man to survive. My mother never had an 'allowance' like most of the women on our block. She was on the checking account, new what their budget was and made decisions about how to spend the household money. Big money decisions were made by them together. And she worked outside the home when we were all in school because she liked to work. Something not done often by their generation. I feel I was very lucky to be raised by such 'outside the norm' parents.

While I agree with the sentiment, it's always people who had well-off parents who gave them a bunch of money or a house (at least!) for nothing who go around preaching how you're not entitled to any help in life... I'd also like to add that the entire point of this thing we've evolved over the millennia called "society" is necessarily to help support each other in a civilised caring manner, looking out for one another as collective and furthermore constantly trying to improve that support and stability as a collective. Now, suddenly, we seem hell bent on going backwards and dismantling anything we've worked so hard at for so long to support others. Since the corporate world has become so bloated and greedy, with an increasing number of billionaires holding more than 1/3rd of the entire world's wealth and still going up, we're all being conditioned into following some ideology of self destruction, hatred of anyone who supports social collectivism and supporting one another and an endless rabid greed for personal status and wealth while poverty in our own countriees and around the world is increasing on an unprecedented scale and hardly being talked about in the news. The media (all of it owned and influenced by these billionaires btw...) seems far more desperate to constantly make you angry with your neighbours for being "woke" or "millennial" or "bleeding hearts" or "commies" or "nazis" etc etc. I find most people of all views and walks of life are generally great people, and the media cherry pick a few neurotics and/or play up certain situations or views to wind you up. So...considering YOU, sir, were given a lot of money and support by your fortunately well-to-do parents, it's pretty rich you preaching to everyone about entitlement and hard work while merely using this as a platform to pose in your expensive big house and to advertise dodgy products on yet another billionaire's social media cash cow - the very same social media platforms you deride for helping cause everyone to become so "entitled". It sure is a trendy fashionable aggressive point of view to preach for money on youtube, that makes you sound all manly and tough and successful. No doubt all your mindless hipster followers, mostly also sporting daft beards to desperately feel more "manly", will get offended by these facts being pointed out and start trying to defend such weird double standards, arrogance and corruption.

Just stumbled on this vid. Me, just turned 50 two days ago, can confirm every single you make. Though the last point I came to approach a little different..just like I tell teen son, always be polite even if you might not like someone or a situation. See if you can leave but if you can't and you feel forced to be somewhat blunt, be blunt. Same goes for a fight (yeah, yeah, I lived through that time), if you can avoid it then stay polite and avoid however if you feel forced to then f ing fight. But always see if nobody sees you because you won't be treated that polite. Love the vid, will make shure to drop in more often, keep going! Greetings from Netherland

Liked. good vid, nothing offensive. In my 40s also and would add a few; 1. Manage expectations, if someone disappoints you, its not them but you, that expected a different outcome. 2. The only respect you owe others is "live and let live", understand trust is earned and giving it away prematurely, is you being nice only, and not something you should default to. 3. Love, hate or anger are on opposite spectrum's and show a level of involvement, by default its better to be indifferent to anyone until they prove some reason to act otherwise. Just my 2yen, back to my bottle of Chablis.

There are things that everyone should be offended by and there are things that shouldn’t. The problem in the world is most people have no clue how to differentiate between them.

We need to get back to being able to agree to disagree yet still get along. MSM doesn't want this to happen, but it's still OUR choice. Choose wisely.

Thanks Jeremy and Hello 👋🏽 I just came across your KZbin channel and I wanted to see what you had to say about the title of your video. And I’m impressed 😎 I started growing my beard and having a shaved bald head at the start of the 2020 pandemic and the family couldn’t stand it. My wife, my kids, my In-Laws but I was committed to growing it because I have connected with several Men that are younger, same age group as me and older men like Rich Cooper and have bald/ shaved heads like me. I just turned 38 years old in October and I’m gearing up for my 40’s after 39 but definitely getting prepared sooner is key. I’m definitely going to order some Tiege Hanley products from your online store. I was always a fan of smoking cigars since I was 18 but that was in my smoking weed blunt days. I just connected with a guy that is a small business owner that owns a cigar store in my area called “The Cigar Quarters” you should Google him and connect with him on Alignable. I’ll definitely checkout your other videos on your channel. #BOLDFORTUNE #TIEGEHANLEY
