You can buy an Online ticket to visit Versailles and skip the ticket-buying line. You can start by visiting the gardens and then near the end of the day visit the castle. That's what I did 2 years ago and I didn't wait for too much although it was very crowded when I got there in the morning.

@MrTherealpad Ahhh, I see what you mean. My wife and I did actually explore the area a bit. I remember because we momentarily day dreamed about moving there in the future (knowing full well that it would never actually happen). lol. I remember a large courtyard/square in the middle of the town, and we had coffee right off of the corner of it at shop that had (like the rest of France) their outdoor seating set up perfectly for people watching. Sadly, I can't remember the name of the place, but I remember the atmosphere fondly.

In Saint-Germain-en-Laye, I'm glad you found the view from the terrace, where Paris can be seen in a distance. Not that it's beautiful, but it's uncommon (to me). Also, I'm sure the archeology enthusiasts will be glad to know that the chateau of Saint-Germain-en-Laye is the National Museum of Archeology ( aka MAN _Musée d'Archéologie National_ ). Worth a several hours glance.

You forgot one that is rather easy to access with RER A (and a bus) between Champs sur Marne and Noisiel stations (on the Marne la Vallée branch), it's an adorable and delightful little 18th Century palace. French presidents also used to welcome chiefs of State there during there visits for a more private discussion. I really encourage you to visit it. Vincennes chapel is a 14/15th Century simplified copy of the Sainte Chappelle in Paris.

Yay for French Fridays. Good to know about the RER system for my next visit. I've taken it from CDG to Paris, but not anywhere else. Google maps often tried to send us on the RER C to get back to our apartment but there was no obvious stop/station around the location. Luckily, walking through Paris to get to a close by Metro is always a good time.

When we were in Paris and went to Versailles, there were constructions going on. So there were busses, and changes, and it was beautifully handled by lots of people (official ones in vests (not yellow ones though)) directing you and everything went well! Smooth sailing! Berlin was more of a mess, and that just goes to show how wrong people are! :-) Unfortunately it was the hottest day ever, so queueueueing (I cut that short) was hotter than hell. Still worth it. I will say that the Hall of Mirrors did impress me quite a bit. I thought it would be tiny--it was surprisingly big! (That's what she said...) My husband lived right by Vincennes, so we walked over on a very hot September afternoon: we had the place to ourselves. I think there were maybe a dozen other people there. Not to brag, but we didn't have to pay to get into the chapel...

@@JaySwanson : No, no. The gold is real (this is not Disneyland). The gates had been destroyed during the Revolution and were faithfully replaced in 2007. And you can see on the following video that they were gilded with real gold leaves (the gilder doesn't use the brush for painting but for applying the gold foils) : kzbin.info/www/bejne/rIHEd5x9oJx_j80 And so is the gold on the statues in the basins of the gardens : kzbin.info/www/bejne/r2GZhHqKes9rr9U As far as I know, the golden ornaments of the monuments of France are always gilded. There are very stricts rules about the restoration of historic buidings. About the furniture, I would be surprised if there were replicas, but I can't tell. One thing is sure, it's that the chateau was emptied during and after the Revolution and that all the furniture was scattered all over Europe. If most of the current furniture is not the one that was there at the time, it's likely some furniture from other places, but it's authentic. Also, I heard several times on the news that, whenever possible, France repurchases the original furniture, if proven authentic.

He talks so fast and can't understand what he is trying to tell us. Hope you make a proper video for tips on how to ride trains in paris. With clear audio on the background while showing us on the video what, which and how about riding a Metro or RER and else.

Hi Issa, thanks for your feedback. You can slow down the video on settings if the pace is too quick for you. We're also working on editing and improving the closed captioning. And for transportation in Paris, check out this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/h5-XXpSZZdiDerM
