Hellooo i've just started learning thai ...just a week ago rn i've been able to grasp consonants and vowels a bit but.....i was just wondering why do we write "ส" in between while wrting sawatdee i mean its sound is that of 's' ..so plzz explain ik it may be a sillything to ask but i'm new and 'ud want u to explain🙏❤....RSVP P.S: guys i'd like to have ur tips n all for learning thai better ,so i can have a good start..

There are eight final consonant sounds in Thai - ก, ด, บ, น , ม, ง , ย , ว When ส is used as a final consonant, it sounds like "ด".

If the water is served in a cup or a bowl, you can use "ถ้วย /tûai/", but Thai people commonly use the word แก้ว /gâew/ to refer to glasses and cups.

I thought Mai Daai meant “can not”. But it means “did not” also?

"did not" if you place before verb. "mai daai tum" = didn't do or haven't done , "tum mai daai = can't do .

I think those kind of errors (which I'm often guilty of) come about by trying to use native language constructs in a 2nd language. ปล วันนี้มดทำผมสวยจังเลย :)
