I'm sure you'll never read this far down, but I have something to say. I started watching your videos at the start of the pandemic. At the same time, I started watching hiking vlogs of people hiking the three longest National Scenic Trails (AT, PCT, CDT). Even though most of the virus craziness is gone, I still watch you....and the hikers. I even suggested you guys hike the AT when you solicited ideas from your viewers months ago. This collision of worlds is blowing my mind. Thank you to you and all the hikers that pulled together to keep me sane for two years. Oh, and this year alone, I've traveled to europe, and last month I did my first solo backpacking trip.

You guys brought up two important points about backpacking: 1) it makes you grateful for garbage pickup, flushable toilets, showers, and water faucets; and 2) it is nice to work for your scenery -- a hard hike usually brings great rewards (beauty, solitutude, etc). I forgot how incredible that view is. I'm from East TN but I'm living in San Diego right now and when I saw the first glimpse I teared up.

I sometimes get the impression that Nate makes Kara do these types of adventures.

So happy to see y'all hiking in the Smokies. Too many people just drive through and miss all the park has to offer

This honestly is the funniest thing to watch right now 😂 I just finished hiking the pacific crest trail and it is just hilarious seeing how unprepared and inexperienced you guys are hiking like this, I made many similar mistakes when I first started hiking 😅

Do you have any pointers for us novices?

1. Put water into the jetboil before lighting. 2. Repackage food to get rid of the bulky store packaging. It helps cut on weight, cuts down on trash, and if you use ziplocs you can repurpose for trash or dirty clothes once you’ve eaten the food. 3. Hiking poles add weight but are super helpful for crossings over water. It’s like having four feet.
