You guys are amazing. you bring so much light and warmth in my life. (can't be helped, usually indoors coding) I am watching all your videos like a series from the time you got the van, they calm me down. I can work for hours (software and web dev) without burning out. There is so much good in this world. Not only are you showing it to us, you are part of it as well, and for that I am eternally grateful. remember to stay safe.

I want to hike the AT so much that I can almost taste it! Unfortunately I promised to care for my elderly mother since I was young and I am absolutely going to do it! I guess that I shouldn’t expect to live vicariously but I just love these two!

I'm sure you'll never read this far down, but I have something to say. I started watching your videos at the start of the pandemic. At the same time, I started watching hiking vlogs of people hiking the three longest National Scenic Trails (AT, PCT, CDT). Even though most of the virus craziness is gone, I still watch you....and the hikers. I even suggested you guys hike the AT when you solicited ideas from your viewers months ago. This collision of worlds is blowing my mind. Thank you to you and all the hikers that pulled together to keep me sane for two years. Oh, and this year alone, I've traveled to europe, and last month I did my first solo backpacking trip.

You guys brought up two important points about backpacking: 1) it makes you grateful for garbage pickup, flushable toilets, showers, and water faucets; and 2) it is nice to work for your scenery -- a hard hike usually brings great rewards (beauty, solitutude, etc). I loved this video! It's nice when you guys get back to the basics and just simply exist.

Thanks guys! I needed this today! I’m a 24/7 caregiver, taking care of a elderly total care palliative care patient & we are having challenges lately. I do get some free moments to rest, spending part of it on your hike today on the Appalachian Trail has been great! Yes I appreciate all the luxuries we often take for granted.,as well. YES safe hot & cold water, electricity enabling us to have heat & AC & washer & dryer & coffee maker and all his medical equipment, a bed I don’t have to pump up , SCREENED WINDOWS, are LUXURIOUS LUXURIES!! Oh my job is thrice as hard if the power goes out. Grateful daily!!!

Okay kiddos, I’ve been waiting for the day that you two awesome people were going to hike the AT! Nate is proof positive that you should, you clearly have wonderful Kara and you’ve finished college. Kara is so devoted and adventurous that after some convincing and promises of an endless supply of coffee I just bet she would do it . Just think about 5 or 6 months of content not to mention the hundreds of sponsors! I’m 67 and would have no qualms about doing it myself except that I have an 87 year old mother whom I happy to care for. I absolutely adore you guys 😊

I would love to see you two with Emmon and Bec do the whole trail next year like Bill Bryson did and you can read it or listen to it with the "A walk in the Woods". It was an amazing read but your videos are better still. At least you know one section of the trail so if you do it again you will know what to bring and what you can leave behind...or have a support car meet you at certain areas to change batteries or SD cards/cameras.

@@seanmitchy Socioeconomic privilege is the main kind of privilege that allows a person to be “crunchy.” For many, when they think of what it means to live a crunchy lifestyle-eating only organic food, growing their own food, composting, cloth diapering, breastfeeding, biking, etc slang) Having sensibilities of a counter-culture nature lover or hippie; derived from the concept of crunchy granola

The funniest (or maybe sad?) thing about the shelter is that on the bunk bed, there's a K-Pop fan that came by and etched TOP and G-Dragon on the wood.

Stunning nature videography in this - VERY IMPRESSED with your ability to identify a good camera shot and get the sound and background to cooperate. You must have hours of video to get those shots. Impressive, I mean National Geographic quality shots!

I love these kinds of "survivor" type videos. Loved the raft collaboration, the island survivor, the Canadian survivorship. They are fun to watch and give ideas on what to bring or pack on your edc packs.

1. Put water into the jetboil before lighting. 2. Repackage food to get rid of the bulky store packaging. It helps cut on weight, cuts down on trash, and if you use ziplocs you can repurpose for trash or dirty clothes once you’ve eaten the food. 3. Hiking poles add weight but are super helpful for crossings over water. It’s like having four feet.
