Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the #travel bug! We started “travel hacking” & finally decided we wanted to go travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this #travelvlog to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling, and we didn’t want to stop after just one year! After achieving our new goal of 100 countries and then all 7 continents (check out our documentary here: • 100th COUNTRY DOCUMENTARY , we had no plans to slow down, until 2020 decided to force us to ;) which is when we bought a converted Sprinter van to start exploring our own country for the first time. #Vanlife was a major adjustment and so different than flying every week like we were used to, but we are incredibly thankful to be able to continue doing something we love every day. 😊🎥🌎 #celsius

As a Native Minnesotan and someone who goes to the Boundary Waters every summer, I had a lot of fun watching this. You got extremely lucky with the Mosquito that year because of the wildfires and dry temperatures, because the way they were at night is usually about how bad they are in the daytime.

As a MN native I’m so happy you guys are enjoying the beautiful boundary waters! It really is a hidden treasure for wildlife and amazing fresh water. It only feels right to let you know right now there is a Canadian oil company clearing forest and digging up natural land, miles from you, to lay large pipes to drill oil. We have to speak up against and expose the cruelty currently happening to the sacred land of the Ojibwa and stop Enbridge from further ruining our environment.

Me too one of favorites so far because it reminded me of how nieve I was when I moved from southern Ontario Canada to northern Ontario. Canada. Where there are l a lot of everything from black flies, to deer flies, to horse flues, to misquiots × 100. And do not wear makeup. Deodorant. Pufume. And no dark clothes. I learned the hard way. got bitten so bad that I thought I was going to loose my hearing and had bites all over me. Even in my hair. I learned my lesson.

@@KaraandNate I am not going to lie having done a 2 week canoeing trip up there in the boundary waters on the Canadian side "The Quetico" that I was going to start cracking up the moment Kara said the bugs haven't been a problem. As you discovered there is a Misquito hour and it is at that point that en mass all of them will come out and start swarming. Had nights were you just wave your hand and you were smacking them out of the air because there was so many Small addition, but what you can actually do is instead of putting up a bear bag, because they literally don't do anything, you flip over your canoes on your side and put the bags under one while using the other to weigh down the first. Makes for so much less work and makes it so the bear would have to move all the canoes.

I’ve done many backcountry canoe trips, and have even taught canoeing once upon a time. Your video is a pretty accurate reflection of the highs and lows of a trip: peaceful, beautiful scenery and body destroying portages. I must admit I did wince every time your canoe touched a rock, however.

So I'm just curious do you by any chance know why they only have one person carrying the canoe? I have canoed my whole life in the Northwest and we have always had two people carrying a canoe. LOL
@stephenr3827
@stephenr3827 2 жыл бұрын
@@laurao8099 It's actually much much easier to have one person do it. The canoes they are using are super light so the weight isn't much of a problem. My canoe weighs about 50% more than theirs and the aluminum canoe you saw from the other eople weighs about twice as much as theirs and neither of those options is much of a problem. Trying to portage with 2 people carrying a canoe is a navigation nightmare.

I enjoyed watching your boundary water canoe trip. Im 67 years old and have made 4 trips to the boundary/quentico area. The last trip about 10 years ago I enjoyed having the Kevlar canoes. The old aluminum canoes we had weighed twice as much and were like paddling an oil can (not streamline) like the Kevlar canoes. Fishing was always great and we would enjoy fish fry's for dinner.

As a former boundary waters guide this made my heart so big. You southerners ❤️ took to it all so well. And everyone learns the mosquito war/put up your bag ASAP lesson. Also, died when you saw a bear on your first day. I haven’t seen a bear up there in years. But I was sad you didn’t get to seen any loons or otters 😭! Maybe in the next video? If you go to the BWCA again, come in early September. Not a single bug but warm weather, warm water.
