I recently bought the pro version of this rifle. I absolutely love it. It is very accurate right out of the box, and I mean really accurate. Mine loves the H&N Baracuda Hunter, the H&N Baracuda Hunter Extreme and the Gamo Rocket pellets. I was shooting pcp's a lot, but this one gave me back the love for break barrels. I recommend it 100%.

In my experience when you zero your scope using a certain pellet & then try to use different pellets you need to re-zero for that brand. I just put up a video talking about this. I zeroed with Daisy Quick Silver wadcutters @ 35 yards & then switched to Crosman Hollow Point & Gamo Tomahawk, both the Crosman & Gamo shot to the left & low.
@HuntShootLive
@HuntShootLive Ай бұрын
@@TheCleaner6969 you are correct if you want each pellet to be zeroed. I was just testing the grouping capability of each pellet. All I care was that each was hitting the paper so I could see the group. Taking the time to adjust them all to center was not necessary. That doesn’t change the group size just the shot location.

My Fusion Swarm gen 3 in .177 shoots RedFire very good but it shoots H&N Baracuda Match 10.65g the best. 4.52 head size. One tiny hole at 25 yards. I also did the trigger screw mod, its a must if you want to get the most from a Gamo.

So a few things to consider with this rifle. No. 1 velocity if the pellets are breaking the sound barrier they willl typically not shoot well because they become unstable. A typical diabolo(skirted) pellet is most accurate in the 820-870 fps window. No. 2 spring piston rifles especially magnum spring piston rifles are incredibly hold sensitive. Because of their unique dual recoil they need to move freely on the rest. In other words you need to forget everything you've learned about traditional powder burner shooting. You might want to check out what is known as the "artillery hold". A sand bag or similar rest is more ideal so you can let the gun move during recoil That said your groups aren't that bad but these guns are capable of even better accuracy.
@HuntShootLive
@HuntShootLive Жыл бұрын
@Tactical Jackalope I was hoping the heavier pellets I tried would group better just for that reason but they were terrible. I will probably try another pellet type somewhere between the weights I tried here. I did a video testing different holds. It did seem to make a slight difference. Thanks for watching and for the comment!

Very true. Took me 2 tins of Gamo Red Fire, one tin of h&n barracuda and one tin of Gamo Match and that would be 2x125 + 400 + 400 pellets to figure that one out. Red fires and Gamo Matches werent bad in powder hunting or my personally very tight grip(workers hands) but after firing around 350 10.6 grain h&n barracuda bullets I noticed consistent inaccuracy with that particular pellets(I thought its because of the bullet materials - german thicker vs spanish more powdery pellet(noticed this since only Gamos were smoking before I removed fabrics Cosmoline with wd40 out of barrel), design of the bullets and its weight 10.6gr vs 7.8/7.5 gr) so I thought maybe if I start wielding & aiming differently maybe these h&n baracudas will actually hit the guarana can at 30m.. and it made a considerable difference! For the better! Since I started shooting more like artillery hold but with left hand gently clawing the weapon right in front of the trigger area and with elbows contracted down the body. With my weapon of 24J and 386m/s hunter 440 spring piston pellets will generally go supersonic right off out of exiting the barrel(crack) with 7.5gr ammo but h&n barracuda 10.5gr(no crack and inaccuracy comparable to 7.5gr Gamo Match). So its about preference and factors, a lot of factors). Every supersonic pellet/bullets are more accurate and subsonic ones are made for silencers, and nothing other then that. The worst that happens is that during the flight trajectory like with barracudas which are heavy.. bullets goes from supersonic to subsonic for in this scenario bullet will wobble a lot and form factor/negative air pressure or resietance would lead it away and cause consistent inaccuracy. Oppinion: Gamo rifles are made & tested with Gamo pellets, if not exclusively then primarely thus these pellets are made and specially calibrated for these guns 2nd In order for a heavier pellet to be more precise then lighter variants it would need to get longer according to its weight 3rd 343m/s is the speed of sound, so 386m/s is developers or production speed for supersonic speed not aiming for subsonic

GSM 3I .22 JSB 18.13 take the cake for pellets at 50y for me. Anything longer I single load slugs and pull out the chart. At 25 most of these group well. I also find my palm and a sandbag more accurate with spring guns than a bench rest. TY for the video.

I have this rifle in .22 cal. With mine it did take close to 1000 shots to settle in. When it comes to testing finding the most accurate pellet it is a real hassle. Because different manufacturers use different lubricants on there pellets before you shoot a 5 shot group on paper you should shoot at least 10-15 of those pellets first to season in the bore with that particular lube. You will get better results and a better idea of what you're gun wants. I've found it's the same for testing 22 LR and cast bullets that are lubed. I know it's a hassle, it's just a matter seeking the truth. And after you clean the gun it will take a lot of shooting to get it to settle down again. And stay away from anything that has moly on it, it'll never come out of the barrel. Great video 😀👍

@George McArthur Tinkering with the pellets is all part of the fun! All that is just another excuse to spend more time shooting. It is funny how they all perform so different. And just because it works in mine doesn’t mean it will work well in another gun of the same model.

Gamo sucks in .177 cal. I have 4 gamo swarm maxxims in .177 all of them group like crap. My 22 swarm maxxim groups great . Also Gamo has a very serious quality control issues. Its like lottery, you either get a super accurate rifle or you get a lemon , as a matter of fact 4 out of 5 Gamos is defective. I am allowing myself to make such a statement after owning 16 different Gamo rifles.

@Paul Karkorian Yeah. I’m definitely not blown away by the performance but this one shoots just as good as the Gen2 .22 I did all the previous reviews on. Tried probably 8 different pellet types with it and .75-1” was about as good as it got.

In my opinion,after owning lots of gamo swarm maxxims and swarm magnums and even the whisper fusion mac1, I came to conclusion that the best gamo to buy is the swarm whisper (147$) gamo, its the most accurate and power is not too inferior to the magnum and it cheap, and works even better than the more expensive gamos.

Thanks again for your review video. Now that you have a .177 Gamo Swarm Magnum, I would like to request some penetration tests and any recommendations for hunting pellets or slugs. Your skull tests are probably a more appropriate way to measure the effectiveness and practical accuracy. Obviously I am not suggesting that you use the .177 or .22 Gamo Swarm Magnum Gen 3i for hunting anything more than the small game you can humanely harvest. If you stick with headshots or aim for inside the earhole on varmints or small game a 1 inch group is going to be lethal and the tissue damage will be more than sufficient. Can you please also keep a count on how many rounds you shoot so that we can get a good idea of the durability of that scope? Do you think the .177 has more felt recoil on effect on the scope or less than the .22 ? I assume that the .177 would have less. Also, do you have any experience or knowledge of Diana's version of a recoil reducing rail for Magnum Airguns? There's also a Chinese knockoff. Both are supposedly a lot more effective in mitigating the recoil, but so far I am only aware of one KZbin channel that uses it. What is your opinion about this airgun as a small game harvester for raccoons, possum, or iguanas? Lastly, I would like your opinion on whether you would consider this airgun and caliber an equally useful or appropriate to the Gamo Swarm Magnum in .22 and your preference between the Gen 2 and the Gen 3i. Thanks again. Stay Safe, Be Well, God Bless.
@HuntShootLive
@HuntShootLive Жыл бұрын
@Ken Fan Thank you! I’m not familiar with the effectiveness of Diana though I have heard of them. I will be keeping a shot count with my gen3i. Can’t say I notice any difference in felt recoil between the .22 and .177. Possibly the .177 gen3i feels a little better. I always said the Gen 2 .22 felt like it “shakes” badly. I could really feel the action of the gas piston. Possibly that seems less with my gen3i. The gen3i for any small game you listed would be more than sufficient but I personally would want head shots only. Squirrels and rabbits can easily be taken with body shots but I still try for head. A vital shot on the other small game you listed would kill the animal but I would personally only try for head shots. That would guarantee quick, ethical kill. I don’t have a preference so far between the .177 and the .22. I would have to say the velocity you gain from the .177 would make up for smaller pellet size as long as an appropriate hunting pellet is used. My .177 has performed perfectly on squirrel so far but not got to take any other small game yet. I am trying to compile a kill shot compilation with it. May take me a few months to get various game with it. Hope that answered all your questions. Thanks for watching and for the comment!

@dironizareyes596 It is not good for one but I would imagine the newer air rifles are made pretty tough with the manufacturer understanding it’s going to happen. I would avoid it if at all possible but I would say it can take some minimal abuse from time to time.
