Leadership sets the tone for workplace culture. When trust, respect, and transparency are missing, it’s no surprise the team struggles. Senior leaders must take responsibility-whether through action or inaction, their behavior shapes the environment. Strong leadership builds connection, not division.

Following you is like having a great career coach and role model! I relate to the situation you experienced. I regret not documenting the things I experienced, standing up to the bully and openly questioning their abuse. I went into a fear response (specifically when they lost their temper and yelled at me in a meeting). You are right, we all have more influence than we think we do. In future I will make efforts to stand up to unprofessional behaviour.

I've consistently experienced group bullying (mobbing), and I'm still troubleshooting how to deal with it. It definitely has consistently posed these issues. I've learned to do exactly what you are saying. I appreciate how straightforward this is. I'm sorry that happened to you, though.

There's no HR where I was hired a month and a half ago but I'm old enough to know what I'm witnessing isn't right. I should've listened to my gut feeling when I came to pick up onboarding paperwork and it pinged me. It's a bunch of miserable people, and some are rewarded for being covert bullies. I just watched this video to see how I may temporarily let it not affect me, as I only need the job for a couple of months before my self-employment income kicks back in. 'Til then maybe I'll just float above everything and smile humbly yet confidently.
