This is what i ultimately want to learn. Park skating and tricks are cool but its not really my thing. As a kid in the 80s and 90s i would gawk at skaters dancing at the rink. I always wished i could do it! Next year i will be 40 so i would say its about time! I only wish i had a skate partner.
@wintertaz51013 жыл бұрын
Wow me too. I'm 40 next year and decided to start skating again because I got my daughter into it and she's on them everyday. Made me want to get a pair again after 15 years, been on them for a month now. I agree with the rink skaters, I was a street skater never been to a rink in my life, would like to now

Hi Nina I’m a street skater and just recently went to a roller disco and have tried a few dance moves out and have really enjoyed it so i guess I’m a street jam skater now lol

No lie that 'pump spin' is what I did in my living room to start getting me comfortable with transitions and I still do it with my livingroom skates when good ol' NC gets too gross for outdoor skating.

Youre awesome, great fun stuff. in 1957 and 58 my Dad was the National Champion, singles so i grew up with skates on. He taught me all that he could starting when i was like 2! But when roller disco came around in the mid 70's he wasnt a disco skater so i could only do spins and stuff, never what youre teaching. Then 25-30 years of no skating and now i want my 9 year old son to skate with me. Im gonna learn your stuff and show him! Thanks!

New skater here. Just figured out how to skate backwards. Was trying to do some of your dances. Got brave and took off my stoppers. Fell within seconds of trying to skate. Putting stoppers back on LOL I’m not at that level yet.

I guess for the pumping spin you did, you could describe it like this: There's an imaginary circle on the ground with a dot in the middle, like a target. The foot carrying weight is on the dot, while the other foot traces a half-circle on the outer edge of the target. Once the half-circle is done, you quickly bring in the outer foot to the center, shift your weight onto that foot, and move the other foot to the outer edge to do another half-circle in the same direction. Repeat those motions until you've got a bit of momentum and are doing a smoother spin. Does this sound like a fair analogy? I'm sorry I'm not very good at explaining things! 😅

the zero is absolutely the hardest for me and i'm easily discouraged, so that hurt 😭😭 but i didn't start this just to give up, so i'm gonna keep going!! surprisingly, the dribble is the easiest for me - i can't get my knees bent enough for the simple crossover move in the beginning! thank you for this video, it's so helpful. i'll be practicing these!

I have a pair of American Dream wheels that I use for rink skating. Would recommend I use them to skate outside on the tennis courts?
@laviniagiannoni69352 жыл бұрын
Hi!!! I love all your videos. You are so good at explaining how these different moves work.(You're also really beautiful, like movie star beautiful and I've always looked up to your style) BUT I do have a question though. What kind of wheels are you dancing with? I think I may have the wrong ones. I have the gummy wheels. But I think the fundae or the energy wheel would be better suited for dancing? I still want to go up and down the boardwalk where I live (santa monica/Mauve Braude trail I think it's called) that's what I usually do, but I've been going up and down the Mauve Braude trail for three years now, and I would really like to make my skate sessions more fun and interesting AND I really really want to learn transitions (forward to backwards) Because skating is so so so much fun, but I know that I could get so much more out of it, then skating up and down the trail really fast, which is so much fun, but I now feel ready to try out different things. SO basically I'm looking for a wheel that Can go on cement for long periods of times, and be super agile and tactile (turning/transitions/going from backwards to forwards) Eventually I would like to go to skate parks too but for now I really just want to get roller skating and dancing down. Anyways sorry this comment is so long! Love you girl! You are my inspiration!

@QueerGirlStraightSkates3 жыл бұрын
So try using the kick forward to give yourself a little momentum when you pull it back. Also, when you shift your body to the side, that will give you a little momentum as well. Let me know if this helps!
