I'm not gonna lie. I paused this video at 0:36 just to comment this. I like this guy. he doesn't seem stuck up and snobby like the rest of the KZbin guitarists I've seen and he keeps it real. " I'm not even gonna pretend like I know the rest of that solo" 😂

imo they are begginer riffs, but you not being able to play it doesn't mean you're below the begginer level. I've been playing for a year and still consider myself a begginer

Muggly X no they won't guitar hero is so much easier than actually guitar, instead of playing only five notes you have to space your fingers, constantly moving up and down the neck and you have to worry about picking, sweep picking, alternate picking etc.

I'm an old-school bluesy/rock guitar player and I've been playing for over 30 years. When I saw the link for this video, my old fart brain immediately thought, "Oh wow. Here's another long-haired douche who's just going to play fast and not teach anything". I was totally wrong, you ARE NOT a douche, and I always like it when I'm proven wrong in this manner - lol. I've know all of these riffs for decades, but if I believe in anything about guitar, I have a very firm belief in helping bring up new players so the traditions can continue. You've done an excellent job here. I'm going to e-mail my 13 year old son a link to this video and tell him to git workin' on these riffs. You've inspired this old dog to learn some new tricks. THANK YOU!!! :)

Robert Baker I'm confused because the way you show on the whole tutorial for More than a feeling is played differently than this. Which one is correct? You say it starts picking " D B G E" but in the full song video you made for guitar control you say "D G B E" for the intro picking. I'm lost

My nephews all pitched in and bought me an SG guitar. The first song or riff I tried to learn was Thunderstruck. The most common advice I've received is learn to play the riff slowly and the speed of the riff will follow. Well I got the slow part down but I can't seem to learn how to play up to speed. I get so frustrated that I put the guitar away for awhile and then after some time I try again but same result.

Νικος Χ it all depends on practice and what you start with. I remember when I started I learned to play the intro to snow by rhcp before even learning some basic riffs like smoke on water etc. I couldn't play it perfect but it was like 80% speed. There are some easy riffs out there that I still haven't even played just out of not wanting to.

Good work my friend! I wish someone had pointed out to me when I was first learning that not all learner riffs had to be so plain and not lead to better playing. It's great that you explain so clearly that there are good reasons to try and learn songs that will help you pick up other songs easier in the future. I hope your videos inspire player to keep developing and grow their playing styles.

Brian Kaiser Yeah, it's all about working on the ring finger and pinky. They're the two weakest digits, the ring finger's tendons are connected to the middle finger so making it operate independently is tough, and some songs like "Born to be Wild" need a real stretch from the pinky.

Learning how to play Rock You Like A Hurricane will make you feel like a million bucks! I learned how to play it when I was very young and it's a good "go to" song for impressing your buds, or more importantly...the ladies! Lol Power Chords + Distortion + Volume = Warm and fuzzy feelings inside + Confidence + Great sense of accomplishment! Thanks for the awesome recommendations RB! You rock, my man!

Can you make a video or a suggestion of certain solos that everyone should learn to help progress?
@brendandoherty9379

William White any guns n roses solos bud, if your total new to soloing start off with knocking on heavens door or maybe patience if you want an acoustic solo. Slash solos are amazing but to really learn to solo well learn what position each lick is being played in and figure out how he's connecting all the boxes together. Once you have the boxes figured out put on a jam track and start soloing. Use them licks you learnt from knocking on heavens door or any other songs uv learnt and just play them with different jam tracks in different keys and in different order to mix it up a bit, your ear will tell you what sounds good. Have fun with it man

brendandoherty9379 thanks for the tips. Haven't really played any slash solos. I'm not new to soloing but new to shredding. I've been working on Nuno bettencourts solo from play with me. I got it down just not up to his speed.

William White m Dude that's awesome, if your into playing solos like that you should start following Claus levin on KZbin, man this guy is an amazing neo classical teacher. I started his neo classical academy 12 week course 2 weeks ago it's expensive but you can pay monthly for 4 months that's what I did. But I'm telling you it's worth it your playing will reach a different level instantly. He also has a free course on the site aswell you should try that before you decide to buy the 12 week course and see if you like it. I have no ties to him I'm not a sales man. But check him out for sure man I think ul love the lessons. He's took my playing to a whole new level very fast

Booom...got all 5. Okay, I knew 3 already but great beginner riff's. Scorpions was the first power chord bit I've ever played I think. Glad you took Back in Black out, it's in the Sweet Home Alabama / Stairway over played category.

I just started playing guitar about a week ago and I got a Squier strat and a $50 amp from fender. The amp has basic gain volume and treble, bass controls. But no matter how I configure the tones or overdrive gain I can never get the sound this guy is getting. Any advice? I’m wondering if it is my amp
